Review Penn Brewery - Pittsburgh

Richard Hagans
Penn Brewery, conveniently located in the Pittsburgh International Airport, offers a delightful culinary escape for travelers. Despite the city's somber mood following the Steelers' recent loss, our experience here was a beacon of positivity. The service was swift and warm, ensuring our food arrived promptly, hot, and delicious. The soft, salty pretzels were a perfect starter, especially when paired with their finely crafted beers. The grilled cheese sandwich was a comfort food masterpiece, with its perfectly toasted bread and a generous, gooey blend of cheeses. However, the real standout was the wurst baguette. This dish was a revelation, featuring a juicy, savory sausage nestled in a fresh baguette, elevated by an amazing sauerkraut that added a tangy zing to every bite. This combination of flavors and textures was nothing short of sublime, transforming a simple meal into an unforgettable dining experience. Penn Brewery at Pittsburgh International Airport brilliantly showcases traditional German flavors with a modern twist, making it an essential stop for anyone passing through.

The service was good. Wait-staff was very polite and friendly. The food I ordered came hot and was very delicious. There are plenty of beer and drink selections as well. The cost is affordable and comparable to outside the airport restaurants.

Pleasant place in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the airport's A concourse. Rarely busy in the morning and have a limited breakfast menu. Prices are reasonable for an airport although the portions are a bit skimpy. Staff was nice and efficient. Food tasted good.

The waitress was great and I ordered their grilled cheese sandwich, which was really good. Their fries are also very tasty, and they have nice selection of beers. Prices are also reasonable for airport pricing.

Wowowow. Get the German potato salad. It isn't a German potato salad, or even a potato salad at all...but it is delicious! It's like home fries with some type of sauce on top. It tastes smoky, slightly sweet, and 100% delicious. Worth a stop for this unique side. Also the beer was pretty good, and the service was excellent!

This is a nice bar in the Pittsburgh airport. It is located in terminal A close to gate A6/A10. I'm usually here during the breakfast hours (read mimosas and French toast sticks) and it's always been very good. Bbq chicken sandwich was excellent. Nice soft bun, char-grilled chicken, plenty of bacon. French fries were tasty, but could have been hotter. Oktoberfest beer was outstanding Prices not too bad for an airport Attentive service

Our family ate at this location while waiting for a flight. I don’t hold high hopes for a quality dining experience at any airport. However, I was really impressed with the quality of food and good service at this location. This place was an unexpected great experience.

After having a great time in Pittsburg alas I had to go back home. Sigh. We were referred to check out this pub that has great selections and awesome Penn Brew Chili. Being from Texas and thinking about leaving the breezy 80 degrees to a 105, my mind didn’t fathom ordering something like that. My friend decided on it anyway. The server offered to loaded it up with up for an extra buck. ( Sour Cream, Cheddar and Onions). I heard they had Poutine on the menu and I never looked at the menu. It’s one of my favorite dishes. We had beer all weekend at Fresh Fest so I needed something cheesy good to soak up the tasty beers as we wait. Our fresh cut fries prepared in traditional Canadian style with white cheddar curds and wild mushroom demi-glace or American style with chili, bier cheese, and bacon. It was so gooey good for only. You could add a couple of bucks and get brisket added but like I said, I never looked at the menu. It was already so filling to me. Both items were under ten dollars. I have to admit that chili was amazing. It has a little spicy kick that I wasn’t mad at all with chili beans. It would make a perfect chili dog or if I had some in Texas I would need a nice piece of cornbread to make my dish complete. Then we had two beers from the draft. What had my do a double take was when the server saw me preparing to leave trying my best to finish my beer, “Ma’am, would you like to take you beer with you?” Whhhhhhaaaaaatttt?!!! He just smiled at me, “Sure, I can give you a glass and you can finish your beer before you board the plane.” Well hail yeah, pour it UP!!! That was the food I’ve ever had in an airport.

Airport food can be tough but this was fantastic! Went based on other reviews and wasn’t disappointed. Got the sausage plate w a side of Brussels… very good! Great wait staff too.

Always good beer. German food that is tasty. Not a lot for kids to eat. Adult recommended.

I had their BBQ chicken sandwich before a flight, so simple but SO delicious (the side of fries was really good as well). When it comes to beer, I enjoy a simple lager - the penn pilsner was delicous. It paired extremely well with my food, also. Also, can't say enough good things about the service. This is now my go to pre-flight lunch or dinner spot.
