The dough was so fresh with a nice soft but chewy texture. The sauce was very nice with a strong sweetness that complemented the great toppings, particularly the sausage. However, the spinach and cheese rolls are what made this place stand out; excellent herbs and spices used with a nice buttery dough to encapsula it all. I highly recommend this place!

Not bad. Pizza had a bunch of flavor, and the Italian hoagie was pretty good. My only complaint was that the pizza was a little bit under done for me. It was 100% cooked. I would have just preferred for it to be a little more well done. Other than my own personal preference, it was very good. Pepperoni had some good spice to it.

There isn't any indoor seating which was a bit misleading based on the photos.
But the pizza came out in a out 10 minutes and we carried it home. The supreme was very good. We'll definitely pick up again in the future

We were visiting from out of town and were searching for a good gluten and dairy free pizza! Giovanni’s hit the spot and Was easily the best GF DF pizza I have had! The service was great, our pizza were done within 8 minutes and the staff was very friendly. We are already making plans to return the next time we are in Pitt!

My Ex-girlfriend's favorite pizza spot. The owner has always been super nice to me, he even remembers my first name even though I might get pizza from there only 10 times a year now since I live in Lawrenceville.

The other night I was in the ER and waiting for hours so I ordered food. I got the penne a la vodka with chicken and it by far was the best vodka sauce I have ever had.
Tina-Marie Jankowski
Their pizza is out of this world!
Personally, your pizza is 1,000 times better than Papa John's, and YOU guys even have Garlic Butter Sauce!
On our first night we ordered your Meats Pizza with the Garlic Butter Sauce, and my fiancé ordered something else with your Marinara Sauce.
We even ordered from you guys on another night and ordered 2 orders of chicken tenders, 2 orders of large fries, and an order of onion rings.
If we ever GP back to Pittsburgh and want Pizza, we will without a doubt order from Giovanni's 🍕 & 🍝
You guys rock!

Food is delicious. Love the bruschetta and garlic toast. Honey balsamic salad dressing is a must try. Had the mixed greens on the grilled chicken salad. Sauce on pizza is a sweeter sauce than I'm accustomed to in Pgh, but perfectly made pie. Wait staff very friendly and attentive. Parking is street parking only but they deliver in the south hill s.

Ordered eggplant parmasan and it was delicious! Restaurant quality and enough for two meals. Came with nice salad (not just a bowl of lettuce) made with crispy field greens and toppings. Homemade Italian dressing was very good too. It's not like the menu says; not rolled with ricotta, just has cheese and sauce but that's all it needed (and pasta side with it too). They should probably change what menu says. Will definitely order from them again!

Best pizza in Pittsburgh, love it! Great gluten free options as well.

Giovanni’s has the pizza I dreamt about when I left Pittsburgh. The perfect combination of fresh stretchy cheese and homemade sauce with their perfectly baked dough/crust is unforgettable. Their pizza isn’t all that’s good- they also have great sides and hoagies.
Dan Guerrini
Awesome food with lots of choices, gluten free items were delicious! Will certainly be ordering again, was a great find for lunch on a day out with the family!

I really love that they deliver beer, and they have a very extensive menu as well. I haven't tried much except their vegan options which are pretty disappointing. They have so much potential but I get the feeling that they're made by someone who doesn't understand the difference between vegetarianism and veganism, and maybe doesn't cook vegetarian dishes that much. For instance, their vegan chicken gyro-- why not a vegetarian version with cheese and sauce and, I dunno, flavor? Their fake chicken is cooked well but without any seasoning whatsoever. Maybe the cook is afraid that flavoring it won't make it vegan any longer? I also ordered the vegan wings which were just breaded vegan chicken fingers, again no seasoning, and honey mustard sauce. Blech! Fried to perfection and not dried out but flavorless.

If I could give 0 stars I would. It took almost two hours to get a pizza delivered on a regular weekday evening. When I called the people at the restaurant were disrespectful and rude. My food arrived soggy and cold and they refused to refund me. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!!!!!!!
FoodFather
Been here quite a few times and never disappointed. Sauce has a nice sweetness to it and the crust and cheese go perfectly with it. Hoagies are good. Buffalo chicken tenders are bomb. The breadsticks are fluffy and buttery. FoodFather Approved!

Giovannis BEST FOR GLUTEN FREE. BEST for gluten free. Have ordered many many times, over 100 I believe, Im not even kidding. These guys are turkish, and are working hard to make a ton of pizzas, so if phone calls can be a little difficult sometimes just say you have a hard time understanding and they will sort it out. I love this place. Dont listen to stupid women.

Horrible Service. I can't tell you about the food, because I never received any. I called to place an order for delivery and the person was very abrupt with me, interrupting me and not letting me finish a sentence. I then waited over and hour and 20 minutes for them. When I called back the same person was very nasty. He told me that the driver could not find me, (perhaps it was because you did not listen when I told you I was on the 2nd floor) I was amazed that no one thought to contact me! He then said, "oh well your order is probably still in his car if you want him to try again" Um no, I don't want my food after it has been sitting in the back seat of a car that long! No apology was offered. I told him to please cancel my order and to remove the charge on my credit card. Sure enough my statement came to show that they did indeed charge me! furious!

Don't order Gluten Free here!!. I have Celiac Disease & ordered a GF pizza last year and spent the evening in the bathroom. Decided to give them a 2nd chance tonight and ordered the pasta....... and have spent my evening in the bathroom! Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Don't worry there won't be a 3rd time. My guess is they cross contaminated their ovens and water. I wish Mandy's in West View would open a South Hills location. P.S. my daughter enjoyed her personal pepperoni pizza.

Not bad pizza and I don't like burgh pizza. Contrary to other opinions the service was fast and friendly. I will come back.

RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!. I will never give another dollar to this restaurant. The pizza is great ( when want to be) , but I will not tolerate rudeness. 4 employees seen me waiting in line and they did nothing but stare. 1 employee walks back and forth behind the register several times and did not offer to assist or get assistance. This has happened to me on more than one occasion and I will no longer deal with it. they should already know customers are the business. LEARN HOW TO TREAT THEM!

Gross, the pizza was a disgusting greasy mess, after a few bites it was in the trash. Worst pizza I've ever had.

We ordered the meat lovers pizza (large), an order of 12 buffalo wings, and an antipasta salad for delivery at 6:05 PM on a Thursday evening. We used the online ordering and paid with a c/c. The delivery man showed up at 7:05 PM, not bad. The pizza was cold and the bottom of the box was so soaked with grease that the box was starting to fall apart. The sauce was so overly sweet it was sickening! The wings were okay, not the best we have ever had AND definitely NOT JUMBO as indicated on their website! The $12 antipasta platter we ordered was NOT what came. They sent an $8 Italian salad instead. We didn't realize it until we started to eat it and moved all the greasy lunch meat from the top and noticed that there was lettuce on the bottom. NO artichokes, kalamata olives, eggplant or fresh herbs! Sneaky trick I would say to rip us off! The garlic bread that came with the order was so un-edible, we threw it in the garbage. It was so soggy and smelled so gross. We spent $50+ for everything. NEVER AGAIN!

Coupon use. I ordered food via phone and confirmed I had a coupon during the order. when I went to pick up my order I was told I colud only use the coupon if I ordered over the internet. Won't be ordering here for a while!

Delivery Disappointment. Saturday night 3 of us ordered a medium margherita pizza, 12 Wings and a small house salad, totaling $31.32 plus $5 dollar tip. Eating at Giovanni's before, we were expecting a lot more than what we were delivered. The margherita pizza, (which I ate before and was good) was saturated with too thick of slices of WET mozzarella cheese, (either that or it was under baked) making the pizza complete mush. I understand this isn't "Il Pizzaiolo" style, but the prices were comparable for the size of the pizza. From what I look at the website, the restaurant owner prides the pizza creation process, which is why we chose to order in the first place.

Their pizza box marketing on being "3rd best gourmet pizza in North America" is misleading and sensational... we ended up getting two pies on this night and both were cooked to disaster.

As soon as we got the first pizza, the bottom cardboard was soggy through a double-thick pizza box. We called immediately to tell them about the meal. They agreed to bake another pizza at no charge. Forty minutes later (it's about 11:30 at night by now, we're still hungry and live a minute away) to our dismay, the second pizza was rubbery and burnt. We called and discussed our disappointment with the manager at 11:45 at night, still hungry from the over-fried dozen wings we divided amongst the 3 of us.

The entire meal and delivery process forced us to remove our business from Giovanni's.

Lastly, the delivery driver insisted that my boyfriend walked to him to get our food- We live on the second floor of a commercial building and the driver demanded my boyfriend to WALK across West Liberty Avenue to get this tragic order. Quality control? What happened to the convenience of delivery?

I attached a picture of the Small House Salad for $4... generous portion, eh?
Greg
Awesome pizza and great service. We used their order online feature, and placed our order 24 hours in advance. They had four delicious pizzas ready right on time.

Pizza is very, very good! However, service seems a bit slow and a little pricey.

It's gone downhill. We stopped ordering from Giovanni's a few months ago when they had so much trouble with my online order. I decided to give them another chance today - bad decision! I ordered a buffalo chicken salad (they called to say they were out of blue cheese dressing - huh? - the salad was a lot of chicken, a few pieces of lettuce, some bad cukes and a bunch of old fries on top). This for $9.99. The pizza was cold and looked like they flipped the box a few times before delivering. I also ordered a 2 litre soda and they brought me an entirely different kind then said I basically had to accept it since it's what they had. Why put it on your menu if it's not available?

I'm kind of sad because it's nearby and they always are very nice when we eat at the restaurant. The ordering/delivery, however, is just plain terrible. I guess we'll take another break - longer this time.

Finally, why start chocolate and gelato if you can't get the pizza part right? It used to be a great place. I don't know what happened.

Lost a customer. The pizza was extremely overcooked, the cheese was burned, and was missing the toppings ordered! The attitude of the employee when notified of the problem was complete unconcern and did not offer a solution. Very poor pizza and worse customer service!

I LOVE this place!!!!. MY ABSOLUTELY FAVORITE PIZZA!!!
Giovanni's is so delicious. The crust is always a prefect combination of crispy and soft, and the sweet sauce is unlike no other. This place is the best. Also the chicken marsala is delicious. They have a great selection of beers if you dine in. Mmmmm awesome......the cheesy twists are sinfully good too. Yum"

Wanted to try something new tonight, so I gave this place a try. I'm left with a very "meh" feeling. I tried two different salads, both of which were delicious. (It's nice to be able to get a caprese salad delivered.) Where things fell really flat was the stuffed shells. When I pulled the container out of the bag, I thought someone was playing a trick on me... 5 small shells, withered and soaking in grease, not even enough to cover the bottom of the dish. For $11, I expect more than that. The filling was good, but they were just SO GREASY and lacking. Also, the marinara sauce accompanying the provolone sticks was watery and bland. If I'm in the mood for a salad, I might get it here, but I doubt I'll order anything else. Shame.

You take the good, you take the bad.... ... you take them both and there you have, Giovanni's. Ok, so I've had mixed experiences with Giovanni's. First time ordering, I placed an order for a large cheese pizza, and tried to give the girl my name and number which she said she didn't need. So, of course, my girlfriend goes to pick up said pizza and it was non existent. She waits 15 min for them to make it, and they give her a free 2 liter. A nice gesture. Anyway, the pizza was middle of the road, and made me wonder why they got such good reviews. Fast forward a few months, and tried their margherita pizza based on good reviews. Now this is the pizza that I can see them winning awards with. The crust was perfect. Crunchy outside, and perfectly soft and chewy inside. The sauce was a little sweet, but you could taste the fresh tomatos. Really a delicious pizza. I would order this again for sure.

Never Again, Dormont Location. I cannot comment on Giovanni's other locations, but Dormont has had a real problem with filling and delivering orders and last Friday was the final straw . . . no more for us. I placed an online order (half hoagie, fries and an small Margherita pizza) just before 7 pm . . estimated delivery time was 45 minutes to Brookline. OK . . . we were patient, but after an HOUR went by, I called (at 8 pm ) - the person answering the phone told me they were "closed for the evening, not taking any more orders!" I told him I had already placed an online order. He then said it was "just going out the door - would be there shortly." Another half hour passed by - I called again. A young lady answered this time and, after finally locating my order, said the driver would definitely be at our home" any minute," offering a weak apology for the delay. Another 15 min. went by and finally the driver showed up - no apologies and, of course, the food was COLD as ice. ONE HOUR AND 45 MINUTES for delivery of a small order to an address less than TWO miles away! Additonally, after tasting, we determined the food would not have been good even if hot and delivered on time. My husband said the steak hoagie had no taste, the fries were dark brown (maybe change the oil a little more often?) Reheating didn't help. The "gourmet" Margherita pizza, a new item on Giovanni's menu, the kind you see Wolfgang Puck make on the Food Network was NOT worth $11 (yes, for a mere 6 very small cuts.) Reheated, of course the crust lost its crispness - but it was supposed to be covered in slices of fresh mozzarella - I couldn't tell if it was fresh or not, but the key ingredient, FRESH BASIL LEAVES, was seriously lacking. From Margherita pizzas I I have seen, there should be at least one basil leaf per slice. Instead, they took ONE little basil leaf and cut it into six teeny tiny shreds and put that on top of the pizza. Oh, and one more thing - I guess one shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but, just an FYI: We got a free new dessert with our order, a "Sweet Twist." It is a gloppy mess of regular unsweetened pizza/bread stick dough formed into twists filled with cream cheese and drowned in chocolate syrup. What a mess! It comes free with an online order - but we threw it away. It's a new item too - $4.99 on the menu . . . my advice: PASS!!

Worst Pizza I've eaten in Dormont. This pizza smells fabulous if you walk by their shop, and I have heard others recommend it, however this is the worst pizza I have tried since I moved to Pittsburgh in January of 2010. The pizza was put together very sloppily, the cheese was flopped all over the crust and the sauce was not under the cheese it was kind up on top of the crust. Totally visually unappealing, and the people who worked there weren't particularly friendly. If you're craving sweet pizza, go to Fiori's instead! I will NEVER order here again.
Fethi Turan
Best pizza there is. Hands down. Also their pasta dishes are incredible. Never a disappointment.
Mister E
Best Pizza Around. Pizza Scale: 10 out of 10. The sauce is sweet, but it works. Try the Chicken and Feta gourmet pizza - it is excellent. I enjoyed some items on the gourmet menu that are no longer there (like the Pittsburgh Pizza), but the remaining choices are all good.

The meals are well worth the price. One meal is more than enough for two meals. The Mediterranean makes my mouth water just reading the menu.
Steeler-nurse
It's OK..... But definitely not the best in the area. I'm not sure how it gets GOLD awards from the Tribune. I've ordered twice and it's OK. Not the best I've ever had and not the worst. It's kind of pricey too. I prefer other (better tasting, less expensive) pizza places in the area.
Cindy
Absolutely Not. Flat out terrible service and horrendous sauce (unless you're a hummingbird or maybe my MIL who's really sweet but likes her food that way too). I recommend avoidance.

Only take-out in Pittsburgh w/ Romaine lettuce. I don't really know why, but It's hard to find salads served here for TO or D with Romaine lettuce, but this place had it! Had a really good salmon salad from here & an antipasta salad also.
Had a meal- it was tasty at first, but then REALLY greasy.
I'm not sure how they got all of their rewards for pizza, because my family/friends & I think it's mediocre at best!
Mike
Consistantly bad. I live right next door and have tried this place more than a dozen times. Maybe once I had a decent meal, mostly greasy, cold, and just plain nasty. Don't over pay for a sub with nothing on it but a slice of ham and brown lettuce. Go somewhere else and leave this place alone.
Zalewskimm
Family Place, Friendly. I am a vegetarian snob at time but love this place. Big portions, cheap and good.. Nothing fancy. Owner is friendly. His kid/grandkid (?) was helping the night I was there. An adorable polite 10 year old girl. Left me a good impression. Try this place.
Pghphil
Mixed reviews. Avoid the pizza if you do not like a "sweet" pizza sauce. Good tasting chicken salad.
Mr.mister
Most of their food is pretty good, if you can get past their unwillingness to make any modifications.

Giovanni's pizza on West Liberty Ave in Dormont is a little place. There are only a few tables so take out would probably be a better option on a weekend. They make that easy with their online ordering and if you are in the right zip codes, they will even deliver. Giovanni's has a candy counter inside. They have some ice cream and it looks like they are set up to make milkshakes, although I didn't inquire about them. They also make chocolate. Most of their chocolate is gluten free, unless otherwise specified. For instance, the chocolate covered pretzels and Oreos are obviously not gluten free, although I have had their gluten free chocolate covered pretzels before - they weren't anything to write home about. I did enjoy the truffles I've had from here. The gluten free menu has pasta, pizza and salads that all come with gluten free garlic bread. I ordered a pepperoni pizza. The gluten free pizzas only come in one size, medium. The waitress brought out dipping oil with spices on a

We ordered the neapolitan margarita pizza with bacon. It was entirely underwhelming. The sauce had a bit of a pleasant kick, but it ran rather thin. The toppings seemed haphazardly strewn across the pie and the whole thing just seemed....
Coyote11
Giovanni's makes an awesome crust - I have to say that it is one of the best crusts I have had in Pittsburgh - tender and flaky, thin yet sturdy, and very flavorful. We ordered an 8-cut pizza with extra sauce, light cheese, and mushrooms on half. The sauc
