Review The Pretzel Shop - Pittsburgh

The Pretzel Shop has a variety of tasty pretzel items for reasonable prices. The staff is friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to see they also had some bakery items like cookies for sale. Parking in the area was easy to find. Plan ahead and bring some cash because this establishment is cash only.

Have patronized this establishment for decades, still my favorite Pretzel Shop, always get a dozen salty pretzels and a dozen peanut butter cookies! Added a box of peanut brittle, a chicken, bacon, and cheddar pretzel sandwich, and a sweet sausage, provolone (maybe) pretzel 🥨, appreciate the egg, meat, and cheese morning pretzels! Peanut Brittle, first time trying it, was very good!

Love the sandwiches especially the chicken salad on the pretzel! I ordered 10 of the and took them to work. My fellow employees went crazy over the sandwiches.

Wow! How have I missed this gem before now? The shop is reminiscent of those kinds of small street shop bakeries you see all over larger cities like NY, Philly, Boston, etc. but the star here are the pretzels. I stopped around 3 in the afternoon. There were two guys ahead of me who seemed to have been here before and they ordered everything in the place. I bought a cinnamon sugar pretzel for the wife (which she claims is the best cinnamon sugar pretzel she’s ever had) and 4 regular salted pretzels for the rest of us. Later that night we popped the pretzels in the microwave for 30 seconds to warm them up, and they were soft like they’d just come out of the oven. Nice doughy bite and bready aroma with a hint of salt made for a deliciously pleasant snack. These are better than any soft pretzels I’ve ever had from Philly (and I’m originally from there!). So good! I will be back!!!

This is one of the best bakerys in Pittsburgh. The pretzels and pretzels sandwiches are what they are known for, but the cookies and muffins are great too. We always get trays for family parties and they are always a hit. Cash only!

I got made-to-order pretzel sharks for shark week. They were packaged so cute and had so much detail put into each pretzel. They were some of the freshest pretzels I have ever had and couldn't be happier with my order!

Hands down the best pretzel I have ever eaten. You must visit if you are in the area.

Best pretzels around! All food here is delicious and the staff is very friendly. These have been a favorite since I was a little girl and now they are my 2 little girls favorite! STILL THE BEST!!!

The best pretzels in town. Much better than Philly style!!!

Affordable food. Meterd parking. Only draw back is they don't keep the pretzels warm after cooking. And when u ask the lady to microwave them for a fews seconds so they're actually warm and soft they will NOT do it without a fight. Either keep em warm of do what we ask "most regulars know to ask for this"

About once a month I get some pretzel dogs, hot sausage sandwiches, and plain bagels for making other sandwiches. They are always fresh, fast, and consistent.

The pretzels are awesome and the staff are super friendly I highly recommend this place for all your pretzel needs

Best pretzels! Also have breakfast and lunch sandwiches, veggie pizza, cookies...lots of great food! Small family owned business. They do party trays and catering events. Love this place!

Happy to see this shop is still in business. They sold pretzels outside my school in the fifties, and they were a staple of my daily diet for years. A stop at this shop is still a must, I have never found anything that compares.

Love The Pretzel Shop in Southside! Have been going there since I was a kid. Was just recently back in town and had to stop in - its like nothing changed, the pretzels were still delicious as ever.

With bakery fresh pretzels cooked fresh every morning and baked goods as well this is one of south sides favorites. My girlfriend LOVES this place. They bake the pretzels fresh every morning but if you come later in the day the pretzels are no longer hot ? They maybe warm but I never understood that I feel like if the pretzel isn’t hot it doesn’t seem fresh but honestly they’ve always been fresh when I got them. They have a variety of flavors and variations you can order as well as pretzel sandwiches which are good but the pretzels don’t keep well for more than a day so just order what you’ll eat and enjoy now. Come back for fresh pretzels. The bites are good to order if your having a party i recommend the cinnamon sugar and the regular pretzel but order the nacho cheese for dipping! Enjoy

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s on my on-going list: Veggie pizza (the cold kind with cream cheese), Cinnamon sugar pretzel 🥨 *This place has been here forever. My dad used to pick up a dozen plain soft pretzels on his way home when I was a kid. Support local! -not the chains. They are made with more love 🫶🏻💕

Here's the truth. There is no inside seating, and the outside seating is limited to two small tables on a noisy, high traffic street. The pretzels were all cold - even the ones we asked them to heat. Service was also "cold" and unhelpful, and the cashier seemed as though we were bothering her by asking questions.

I had a chicken salad sandwich on a pretzel bun ... Nothing special. My husband had a cheeseburger roll that was cold, even though he asked that it be heated. We had to ask for dipping sauce as it was not offered to us.

This is a place to maybe pick up some pretzels to take home and heat up ... Definitely not a lunch place as some have suggested.

Tasty, affordable pretzels. The pretzels here are way less expensive than I thought they'd be. The garlic parmesan ones are amazing.

If this place stayed open late to serve drunken South Side partiers, they would make a killing.

My grandpap started taking me here when I was 6 years old. A local secret is that if you get there before they open to the public (before 7am), you can get fresh out of the oven pretzels in the alley behind the store. But remember "cash only" as always! One of my favorite places in all of Pittsburgh.

Just can't do it.. Since I was born and raised in the South Side, I've been craving a Chicken salad pretzel sandwich for weeks. However the last, oh I don't know, 10 times I've been there I was confronted with such rudeness that I can't justify spending even $5 there for my sandwich. I worked at a restaurant right down the street for years, so I stopped 2 or 3 times a week. The two " young ladies" who work later in the day are in serious need of a customer service class. They often told me they were out of what I wanted, then laughed when I asked them for a fresh one, not the soggy one sitting in the display case. " yeah, we don't that " she told me. The constant eye rolling and tongue sucking they don't even attempt to hide. They act all mad when you walk in. Like " how dare you walk in here and make me wait on you". They go about sweeping the floor and texting forever before they even acknowledge your existence. They are short w you and snatch money out of your hand. I even listened to an entire conversation about how I have a " bitch face " and how annoying I was while waiting for my food. These two didn't even bother to walk out of ear shot before making me feel like dirt. As much as I love their product, I can't justify going to any establishment that treats me this way. It's just not worth getting myself upset. My dad always goes down in the morning, and never has an issue, but since I work nights I' don't even bother because I'm familiar with the evening staff. Oohhhhh, how I miss you, Pretzel Shop!

Great. I really enjoy this place. My clients go crazy, in a good way, when I drop off pretzels instead of donuts or bagels. The pretzel wrapped hotdogs are off the hook. Ham and cheese - good too.

A Pittsburgh Staple. These Pretzels are, hands down, the best anywhere. I lived in Colorado for 5 years and when family from Pittsburgh would visit, I would have them bring me a dozen and I would keep them in my freezer. If you can get them just after they have come out of the oven, you are in for a real treat.

A Pittsburgh institution. Fabulous, hearth-baked pretzels. Family owned and operated. Always fresh.

Hidden Gem of the South Side. I only knew it existed b/c of a pretzel flag hanging outside and decided to stop. AWESOME pretzel sandwiches! People in the office love when I go there b/c I always buy a 2 dozen pretzels and bring them back with me. They're cheap, and they get you in and out faster than any other food joint I've been to. Bring Cash, and don't expect to sit inside and eat. Grab your bag of heavenly joy, go elsewhere to eat and make others jealous, and God help you if you don't have any to share with me.

Best Pretzels!. The Pretzel Shop has the best pretzels I have EVER tasted! I've ate them all my life and can't imagine there's anything better out there. Try to get there when pretzels are warm out of the oven

Great Snack Food or Quick Cheap Lunch. If I'm ever in a hurry for lunch I usually go to PRetzel shop. You can get an awesome pretzel sandwich with chicken or varius lunch meats for $3 PLUS you're usually in and out in a few minutes. They also have great cookies and of course pretzels. To me the Pretzel Shop IS the Southside.

Overall, it was yet another solid sandwich: the filler was a notch above adequate while the pretzel bun really, really stole the show.

If you didn’t already know they have sandwiches made out of pretzels. Think that’s weird? Try one! My favorite used to only be available one day of the week and is now available every day. They also make
