Tasty, affordable pretzels. The pretzels here are way less expensive than I thought they'd be. The garlic parmesan ones are amazing.
If this place stayed open late to serve drunken South Side partiers, they would make a killing.
My grandpap started taking me here when I was 6 years old. A local secret is that if you get there before they open to the public (before 7am), you can get fresh out of the oven pretzels in the alley behind the store. But remember "cash only" as always! One of my favorite places in all of Pittsburgh.
Great. I really enjoy this place. My clients go crazy, in a good way, when I drop off pretzels instead of donuts or bagels. The pretzel wrapped hotdogs are off the hook. Ham and cheese - good too.
A Pittsburgh Staple. These Pretzels are, hands down, the best anywhere. I lived in Colorado for 5 years and when family from Pittsburgh would visit, I would have them bring me a dozen and I would keep them in my freezer. If you can get them just after they have come out of the oven, you are in for a real treat.
A Pittsburgh institution. Fabulous, hearth-baked pretzels. Family owned and operated. Always fresh.
Hidden Gem of the South Side. I only knew it existed b/c of a pretzel flag hanging outside and decided to stop. AWESOME pretzel sandwiches! People in the office love when I go there b/c I always buy a 2 dozen pretzels and bring them back with me. They're cheap, and they get you in and out faster than any other food joint I've been to. Bring Cash, and don't expect to sit inside and eat. Grab your bag of heavenly joy, go elsewhere to eat and make others jealous, and God help you if you don't have any to share with me.
Best Pretzels!. The Pretzel Shop has the best pretzels I have EVER tasted! I've ate them all my life and can't imagine there's anything better out there. Try to get there when pretzels are warm out of the oven
Great Snack Food or Quick Cheap Lunch. If I'm ever in a hurry for lunch I usually go to PRetzel shop. You can get an awesome pretzel sandwich with chicken or varius lunch meats for $3 PLUS you're usually in and out in a few minutes. They also have great cookies and of course pretzels. To me the Pretzel Shop IS the Southside.
Overall, it was yet another solid sandwich: the filler was a notch above adequate while the pretzel bun really, really stole the show.
If you didn’t already know they have sandwiches made out of pretzels. Think that’s weird? Try one! My favorite used to only be available one day of the week and is now available every day. They also make
The Pretzel Shop has a variety of tasty pretzel items for reasonable prices. The staff is friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to see they also had some bakery items like cookies for sale. Parking in the area was easy to find. Plan ahead and bring some cash because this establishment is cash only.
Have patronized this establishment for decades, still my favorite Pretzel Shop, always get a dozen salty pretzels and a dozen peanut butter cookies! Added a box of peanut brittle, a chicken, bacon, and cheddar pretzel sandwich, and a sweet sausage, provolone (maybe) pretzel 🥨, appreciate the egg, meat, and cheese morning pretzels! Peanut Brittle, first time trying it, was very good!
Love the sandwiches especially the chicken salad on the pretzel! I ordered 10 of the and took them to work. My fellow employees went crazy over the sandwiches.
Wow! How have I missed this gem before now? The shop is reminiscent of those kinds of small street shop bakeries you see all over larger cities like NY, Philly, Boston, etc. but the star here are the pretzels. I stopped around 3 in the afternoon. There were two guys ahead of me who seemed to have been here before and they ordered everything in the place. I bought a cinnamon sugar pretzel for the wife (which she claims is the best cinnamon sugar pretzel she’s ever had) and 4 regular salted pretzels for the rest of us. Later that night we popped the pretzels in the microwave for 30 seconds to warm them up, and they were soft like they’d just come out of the oven. Nice doughy bite and bready aroma with a hint of salt made for a deliciously pleasant snack. These are better than any soft pretzels I’ve ever had from Philly (and I’m originally from there!). So good! I will be back!!!
This is one of the best bakerys in Pittsburgh. The pretzels and pretzels sandwiches are what they are known for, but the cookies and muffins are great too. We always get trays for family parties and they are always a hit. Cash only!
I got made-to-order pretzel sharks for shark week. They were packaged so cute and had so much detail put into each pretzel. They were some of the freshest pretzels I have ever had and couldn't be happier with my order!
Hands down the best pretzel I have ever eaten. You must visit if you are in the area.
Best pretzels around! All food here is delicious and the staff is very friendly. These have been a favorite since I was a little girl and now they are my 2 little girls favorite!
STILL THE BEST!!!
The best pretzels in town. Much better than Philly style!!!
Affordable food. Meterd parking.
Only draw back is they don't keep the pretzels warm after cooking. And when u ask the lady to microwave them for a fews seconds so they're actually warm and soft they will NOT do it without a fight.
Either keep em warm of do what we ask "most regulars know to ask for this"
