My date and I split a bunch of appetizers and salads. Mujadara, sleek, tabbouleh, mohamara, baba ghanooj, hummus, and artichoke hearts. Flavors, textures, freshness, variety were all exceptional. The use of spices in the dishes was exceptionally well done. Not overpowering, but not subtle. The presentation beautiful. The tabbouleh was fresh and crisp, tomatoes firm and fresh, the parsley not overpowering, and too bitter. The mujadara was earthy, the mohamara was a complex mix of sweetness and tart. Based on appetizers alone, I would love to come back and try an entree. Lots of options for vegetarians or vegans. The interior was clean and elegantly simple interior. The appetizers sampler of 3 appetizers for 15-16 was a great value. Two of them combined perfectly to give a lot of option and was perfect for the two of us.

My favorite is BabaG. The amount was amazing and tasted great with a smokey note. Shower, the disappointment was that I'm accustomed to eating it warmed and pignoli nuts with oil in the middle. Also looked at the spinach pie but they are premade with onions of which I have a sensitivity to onions. Good experience overall.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. It has been a long-time lunch spot while working at Pitt and CMU. The quality of food and service is consistent and has been for the more than 20 years that I have been eating at this wonderful restaurant where I have many fond memories with friends and coworkers. It's always a first pick when dining in Oakland.

As long as I avoid the pita, there's plenty for a diabetic. You can get most of the sandwiches as a skewer or platter without pita. I especially like the baba ganoush as it is very smokey. I'm here weekly for lunch and almost never have to wait for a table. Service is usually fast and always attentive. The hidden gem on the menu is the falafel platter. Crispy outside, tender and moist inside.

We were in town for a day and looking for something different than standard pub fare, Ali Baba did not disappoint. The Kibbeh Nayya was fresh and delicious, the baba ghanoush smoky and every other thing we sampled was amazing. We ended with Arabic coffee and baklava and left full and happy.

✴️ Updated August 15th, 2023 📖🔖 Added Menu Pics. This is one of my top 3 in PGH. ⭐⭐⭐ Delicious Syrian and Syrian-American lunch specials. Wraps hover around $11 Ali Baba's has been around for a 1/2 century. The owners retired a while back. New management made this place even better. Gone are the brown derby interiors that were here till their recent renovations, and instead, a restaurant with a permanent partial sunroof and a French inspired stucco countertop. It was nice to get some sun while I had this french fry sandwich. It's fries, aioli, lettuce, tomato, pickles. And it's delicious. I've been going to this place on and off for the past 40 years. Reccos: Sleek Mujjadara Mezze Platter Loobeh Coffee (done Turkish style) Any of the wraps but especially the French Fry Wrap with Garlic 🧄 Aioli THE BONE-IN LAMB SHANK 🍖 Also, ty so much for 777K views. It means the world to me. Please follow me here? At 1M I'm posting YT videos. Love to share my adventures, good eats style.

Wanted a light dinner and went with the spinach lentil soup. For $5, it was plentiful and so worth it with the pita being warm and comforting. Picking up my order I went happy as the lady smiled handing me my bag as well as giving me extra cutlery. Super nice people and good food as well!

The atmosphere is great and the staff is superb! She lent me a book Our Syria Recipes from Home. The content is beautiful and sad at the same time. I had a mixed feeling after skimming it. Moussaka came with a salad. I thought it wasn’t much but I could barely finish it. The portion was more than it looked. The sliced eggplant itself has a bit stronger seasoning so the salad brought it back to balance. One downside is that the men’s restroom smells. I mean it’s dominated by the smell of ammonia. If it’s resolved, I’d give this restaurant five stars.

The food here is very good! They did a fantastic job of grilling. The grilled chicken and baba gunooji both have wonderful grill flavor but are not burned. I wish I have the stomach to try every dish. So good!
