Review Tako - Pittsburgh

Great spot to enjoy food and drinks. The atmosphere is nice. The food is tasty. We went after a Steelers game, so it can get really crowded. I would suggest making a reservation on days that games are held in the city.

We got to sit outside on the park benches that let us look right into the kitchen. Being able to watch the kitchen work was a fun change over where we usually sit inside. As always, the food was amazing. We had the tako taco, chorizo taco, chips n salsa, and salmon poke. It was just the right amount of food for two hungry people, almost too much.... almost... fair warning: the chorizo is a messy taco, delicious sausage and runny egg going everywhere. Order it for sure, just have that napkin ready :)

super amazing food- i mean, wow! the tacos here are just incredible. everything is so fresh and that truly makes the difference in my opinion. the staff was very friendly and accommodating, very knowledgeable about the menu. we sat outside and the atmosphere is cozy but also chic- you’d never guess it’s right on the road. the outdoor eatery bar they have in front of the restaurant is very cool as well, i think it offers a unique dining experience- but also in a comfortable way. the baja tacos were my favorite by far and the spicy pineapple marg was fabulous!!! (keep in mind that it is serrano pepper- NOT jalapeños- so it’s got a liiiittle more of a kick) the queso was ridiculously good- it was still steaming when it got to our table highly recommend stopping by this place for some really great food :)

Interesting variations of tacos. This was a little fancy for my tastes, (I'm a pretty basic foodie), but was definitely good. They have an enclosed outdoor seating area where we were seated. Would definitely recommend this if you're going for a more relaxed dinner because I had to go in the main building to use the restroom and it was very loud n lively.

This place has a TON of tequilas to choose from (and plenty of scrumptious margaritas to try them in) but do not overlook their food menu. Even though there are only a handful of tacos on their menu, they pair pretty excellently with whatever it is you choose to drink. Try the mushroom tacos even if you're not vegetarian -- they look like pork BBQ and have the texture of fried chicken! It is rather loud (plus we went during the holidays so they had even more colorful lighting than usual), and it can get crowded (not sure if they have seating options for larger groups) but it's a very fun atmosphere and a perfect kickstart to an evening downtown.

We sat at the bar and honestly had the best time!! The bar staff was SO much fun and super helpful in all of their recommendations. We got a bunch of drinks, the Korean tacos, the carnitas tacos, and chips and salsa. Everything was to fit for!! Just the vibe we were looking for. A reservation would be great, but not having a reservation and sitting at the bar was so much better. Just be sure to get there RIGHT when they open or you’ll be standing hovering over the bar seats!

My husband and I came here on our first night in Pittsburgh and it turned out to be a great choice! What a delight! The service was fantastic, and the food was even better! We ordered Mexican street style corn to start, and it was so creamy and delicious 🤤 and then I ordered the chicken tacos while my husband ordered the beef tacos. I wish I had ordered the beef tacos because OMG they were mouthwatering delicious 🤤🤤 We ordered the churros for dessert and again it did not disappoint. The churros are made fresh and fluffy. The caramel and spicy chocolate sauce are both wonderful additions to the already fantastic churros. I would HIGHLY recommend eating at Tako, you will be very happy you did!!!

This place is great. So happy to have it in our city. One of the bright spots of the new food scene in Pittsburgh. Every once in a while a taco won't be 5 star but most of them are and everything else about this place earns 5 stars.

Super trendy spot with excellent vibes and ambiance. There are a variety of seating options from an outdoor area right next to the kitchen, a high top zone next to the bar, and then additional seating upstairs. The service we received was excellent from a friendly host to a great time with our waiter. In terms of food, I was very impressed with the chips and salsa, as well as the quality of tortillas. The tacos were also good, but I would have personally filled the tacos less as they began to fall apart. Drinks were tasty and strong. I would definitely come back next time I'm in Pittsburgh.

A really great spot for some tacos! The food portions are generous and tasty. The staff are attentive and they have a good selection of Tequila available. Great for a pre-dinner snack or dinner before one of the events nearby. The Baja tacos were great! They also have outdoor seating to enjoy the good weather if need be!

I came with a party of 11 for my birthday. The food was great! I wanted to be adventurous with the grilled octopus taco, but that wasn't quite my cup of tea. The other tacos, however, were amazing. Everything is pretty much on point... from the margaritas to the deserts. Our server, Natane, was amazing! I can't emphasize enough how helpful she was. A truly genuine person who did the best possible job to ensure we all had a great time. That was really important, and we all appreciated the efforts!

Very hip vibe - great decor but definitely loud and dark when seated upstairs. The food and drinks were phenomenal and the service was great and speedy. Awesome bar seating downstairs also. They have the option for heated outdoor seating in igloo tents which was really cool. Would definitely recommend to someone grabbing dinner and drinks in the city.

Our experience at täkō was absolutely fantastic. We haven't gone on a date as just the two of us in a very long time and täkō made the day perfect. Jules was an absolute hero with her suggestions and service, the atmosphere was welcoming and the food was delicious, thoughtful and original. Everything was amazing, but the Shining Wizard cocktail, Tako tacos and Korean tacos took it to another level. Truly phenomenal, can't recommend enough

Restaurant was amazing. It’s very small, intimate, and loud! Was almost like a nightclub with the option to eat. We got tacos, margaritas, and some starters. The star of the menu had to be the tuna guacamole! That was amazing! I did not get a picture because it got devoured immediately. The food was awesome and service was great. If I had to complain, I would say the music was a tad loud, especially on the upper level since you right next to the speakers. The decor is great, and they have just about every tequila you can think of.

What a great meal! The staff was super friendly. I just had esquites & chips & salsa (I know, at a taco restaurant) and they were delicious. The drink was wonderful. I sat in the outdoor area and it was a delightful & relaxing experience. Wish I lived here, I’d be here all the time.

My favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. Period. Even before you come the tacos themselves, there are so many other items that will make you happy, as well as the cocktails. You should at least try chips, guacomole and papas bravas for appetizers. You can't go wrong with their tacos, although the octopus is probably a favorite. Absolute gem of a place. Highly recommend!

From the outside it looks like a tiny taco shop but it's gorgeous and two stories on the inside. The chandeliers and the lighting give this place such an interesting ambience. I ordered the queso fundito and the Korean tacos. The flank steak in the Korean tacos is so crisp and delicious and the peanut sauce really offset the spicy cucumber. All the food and drinks really compliment each other well.

Walked in on a Thursday night and was able to grab a seat at the outdoor counter. The tuna poke tostada was refreshing and quite good. Lots of flavors ever bite. The al pastor tacos were also great, though the I wish the avocado salsa was more pronounced. The tacos are huge, so even 2 (one order) should be enough. A little on the pricey side but overall a positive experience.
