I do not have the time to revisit restaurants too often, but when I have a taco craving I do like to make my way to come here. The fish tacos are great as well! I love their salsas and service is quick for how busy they can get. All the photos I attached to this review are from different times I have been here. I have probably come here 10+ times which often for me. I mention that, because it speaks to how often I make my way to go downtown and attempt to find close parking just to eat their tacos. Love it here!
Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere in Roosevelt Row. Great drinks and tacos. El Pastor only served on Wednesdays which is the only one I haven’t tried. Consistently good even on busy days such as First Fridays. Friendly service always willing to help decide on a drink or meal. Also, very excited they are opening a new location in the East Valley
Taquero Mucho is a decent spot for tacos; while I won't describe them as amazing, I tried the fish taco. The torta, however, had an average taste. Despite the nice ambience and seating, the overall flavor was mediocre. We appreciated the vibe and service, but I wouldn't recommend it solely based on taste.
We visited Taco Chelo in the evening around 7 pm and it was busy, but there was still available seating inside as well as outside on the patio. It's a walk up counter where you order and then they bring the food out to you. We ordered both the Sonoran style tacos with cabbage and the Tijuana style tacos with cilantro and onions, as well as tortilla chips / salsa, refried beans and a margarita. The food was delicious and had a lot of flavor. The carne asada meat was marinated and tender and the size of the taco was a decent size (not the tiny ones so many street tacos seem to be these days). The refried beans had a creamier texture than I was used to but they were absolutely delicious. Whatever they are using to add some spice to it definitely works! Great salsa too. Overall, we were very pleased and if we found ourselves in the neighborhood, we would visit again.
This is a good little Taqueria. It’s in the downtown area Phoenix not too far from Chase Field. They have a good selection of tacos all on house made tortillas. Our first visit here, we tried a selection of five different tacos and all of them were good. Our favorite tacos were the fish taco, Al Pastor, and the Sonoran taco. We’ll be coming back to taste some more!
Some of my favorite items are:
Sonoran Taco ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Al pastor taco ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fish taco ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My guide on how I use the 5 star system:
⭐️ = Not good
⭐️⭐️ = Not terrible, but would not get again
⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Solid, but I’d try something else before this again
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Really liked it! You should try this
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Loved it! Must try
I’ll make adjustments to my ratings after subsequent visits. If you see a .3 or .7 it means:
.3 = Wasn’t as good the 2nd or last time I tried it
.7 = This was better the 2nd or last time I tried it.

We dined at Taco Chelo in downtown Phoenix, it was a good experience. Cozy atmosphere with a creative twist on traditional Mexican cuisine. The service at Taco Chelo was friendly and attentive.
Amazing tacos and such a fun down town spot. Fast service for a Saturday afternoon around noon. The barbacoa was amazing, as was the costra. The fish taco was delicious and perfectly fried but the best one of all was the the Sonoran… 10/10. Chips and salsa are also a must, the chips are awesome. Only disappointment was the refried beans… tasted like ketchup. Highly recommend and will be returning!!
My wife and I ordered one of every taco 🌮 🙌 🌮
I struggle to find the words for how amazing these tacos were. Every single one of the tacos were astounding! Perfect level of char on the carne, the porky flavor coming through in the carnitas, the smokiness of a mesquite kiss just enough for nostalgia without overpowering the rest of the flavor, even a crazy caramelized onion and caramelized cheese taco that was was like nothing we'd ever experienced. The big shocker was how fantastic the veggie taco was, so flavorful and savory. The tortillas are often underappreciated, but here they are so good they have their own strong presence in the flavor and texture profiles that serves the elevate the rest of the handfuls of perfection.
The food is just so damn good, and the atmosphere is relaxed. We were in town for a show and even tried to head back for seconds afterward, but they were closed already. We keep talking about driving the 2 hours just to enjoy it again. Next level wonderful. 💯 🔥
Done if the best tacos I've ever eaten! They were flavorful and spiced just right. I tried the carne asada, the chicken, and the Sonoran. My favorite was the carne asada. I also had the prickly pear margarita which was flavorful but not too sweet. While it's a seasonal flavor, I imagine since it was that delicious, the original they make must be just as great.
I had the Carne Asada and Costra tacos and they were delicious! Horchata tends to be either a hit or miss when I go to Mexican restaurants and theirs was a definite hit! The staff are also very friendly and nice.
