Sid Booker's - Philadelphia, PA - If you follow my blog much, then you've probably figured out that I love good fried shrimp! Sid Booker's is a no frills shrimp shack, actually, it's just carry out window located at the corner o
Grabbing shrimp from Sid Booker’s is more than just grabbing shrimp. This place is a North Philly staple and at this point should be a landmark. A dozen shrimp and fries only took about 10 minutes to prepare. Were they the best shrimp I’ve ever had – no. Was the cashier the most welcoming – hell no lol. But the fried butterfly shrimp always hits the spot and I will be back! I don’t ever want to see a day where this establish isn’t a part of my city. Thank you Sid 🙏🏿
Always a hit especially for a late-night snack. Even though they only sell shrimp and fries.... They are never disappointing. The shrimp are always good and the fries are always good. And the shrimp are always husky!!!! I've been eating there for over 25 years and they're conveniently open nice and late. Services fast to it's only about a fifteen-minute wait.
I was pleased with what I received from this establishment. The shrimp were large, butterfly shrimp, and fried to perfection. I don’t frequent fried shrimp, but for the first time in a long time I had them and they were pretty good! If you enjoy fried shrimp I think you will enjoy Sid Booker’s.
The coleslaw that they sell is a creamy coleslaw which was pretty good and the macaroni salad was OK. It’s similar to what you would find in the store. The prices for the salads are very inexpensive.
The corner hosting this money maker leaves much to the imagination. Over the years I've waited in line for upto an hour for 2 dozen shrimp. Visiting on a weekend night will guarantee a line. I visited yesterday on a Sunday and can say my shrimp lacked flavor and seasonings in the batter. Not sure if this was a fluke or new folks in the kitchen but I wasn't happy with my shrimp and neither was my momma with hers. We purchased 2 dozen shrimp in under 10 minutes with no line cooked to order. I had salt, pepper, and ketchup and still my shrimp were bland. Honestly, in over 20 years I've never had this problem so I will give it another try in the upcoming months but yesterday was a bomb. Usually they have juicy, plump and flavorful shrimp.
Sid bookers shrimp is and has always been the place to go for fried shrimp in Philly!! I've probably be going for about 30 years and they've been very consistent on the quality and taste.
I come here too often. Sometimes the wait is long. Shrimp are always good and fresh. Fries are solid. Mac Salad is not for me & I don’t eat coleslaw.
Shrimp and fries! Been eating them fir over 40 years!! Still delicious. The Shrimp are nit as good as they used to be but still good.
The Service Was Amazing The Food Was Amazing and Hot it Took No Time for the Food to come Out!!!
Great hood spot, food never changes after all these years. Great for late night munchies
The food is always on point and perfect place to head to after a concert since there are not many places open after 12am in the city. Not the best area but the food is definitely delicious.
