Had a later evening reservation with my husband for date night a few weeks ago and was blown away by the gorgeous ambiance of the restaurant before we even sat down. It was quite packed and required some shuffling around in the entryway to allow space for more customers to check in, but the staff at the hosts stand did a great job of getting guests seated and helping to thin out the waiting area. Our server (their name is escaping me..sorry!!) was amazing! I wasn’t so sure about the cocktail offerings and they were able to recommend a modification to one of their non-alcoholic drinks that I ended up LOVING. For me, this entire trip was centered around trying the blue dumplings and my heart was absolutely crushed when our server informed us that they were sold out for the night. It wasn’t their fault, of course, but they must have felt the disappointment from me and went on a mission to track down one last order. That gesture saved the entire night for me and I left feeling so well taken care of. Overall we enjoyed our food, drinks, service and overall experience. One thing to note was that parking was pretty difficult to navigate but we eventually found a spot a few blocks away.

Managed to secure a reservation for lunch. The atmosphere is very bright and lively. The servers were knowledgeable and gave us recommendations for what to eat/drink. As i was in a group of 3, we each tried the respective cocktails. The ariya is basically a mimosa with a twang, the yaya is kind of like a mojito, but the one i enjoyed the most was the nakadia which was more fruity and sparkling beverage inspired. We order the duck salad app, the crab sticky rice & the kanom jeen gaeng pu( crab with vermicelli). Personally loved the crab fried rice as i enjoy savory flavors, but the kanom jeen gaeng pu was surprisingly good as ive never experienced a flavor like this. The three dishes between three people would appear as it’s not enough but it filled us just right. There were multiple servers bring dishes to us/ taking dishes away so the service was good; possibly one of the perks of sitting near the kitchen. Overall a pleasant experience and am willing to recommend to others to try as well.

It was a good experience to try this popular new place. It is pricey relatively but im sure its based on the unique style of their dishes. I have to admit my favorite was the cocktail! The lum yong is awesome! I wasn’t sure if it would be too creamy but wasn’t at all! You have to try! Food: We tried the stir fry crab dish (its like a stew), bronzino and beef tenderloin stir fry that was mild and creamy. We also got a side order of the Chinese broccoli. For an appetizer we got the chicken dumplings. The dumplings came out small and cute as 4 bite size pieces. Im pretty good with spicy foods and didn’t find the crab dish at all spicy but my friend found it to be spicy. The flavor combination was good although unexpected because I thought it would be a stir fry and not liquidy. Out of all the bronzino was the spiciest. Definitely has a kick so if its hard to eat spicy foods dont order it. The flavors for seasoning were awesome though. The beef tenderloin is a good non spicy dish option. The Chinese broccoli was cooked perfectly and was somewhat spicy. Needless to say we ate alot of rice with this food. To finish it all we shared the thai ice tea shaved ice. I was so full by then so didn’t eat much of it but it is refreshing after a spicy meal. Ambiance: a classy bustling restaurant. I think the high ceilings contribute to the vibe and the large palm plants/trees in the middle. Service: Our server was attentive and gave suggestions Not sure yet if it’s worth the price point until I try other dishes. I look forward to visiting again and trying new foods!

It was a great experience to eat non-American Thai. Food was exciting and somewhat pretentious. Service could be better, especially with guidance of food choices, or offer a prefixed menu of Thai exploration. I would definitely try again as the food was very exciting.

My husband and I saw Kalaya on Somebody feed Phil. We decided to try it out over the weekend while we were in Philly, and they did not disappoint. In every bite from the appetizers to the main course and the amazing Duran sticky rice for desserts, I could taste the love. Amazing job, Chef Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon. Your attention to every fine detail was so very much appreciated. From the beautiful interior and exterior of your establishment to the taste of pure perfection. Next time we come to town your beautiful restraunt will be our go-to place to feel your love.

Kalaya is hands down my favorite restaurant! I love everything about this place. The food, AMAZING. and the service, phenomenal. I’ve been here on multiple occasions and I always like to try something new each time. There are two dishes that are a MUST on top of trying something new, and that’s the shaw muang dumplings and the pu pad pong karee. The dumplings I could eat all day honestly. Eventually I will try the entire menu. Can’t wait til the next time!!

I really enjoyed my experience at Kalaya. The restaurant had a great vibe and our server was awesome. We loved the dumplings. Unfortunately, the main dishes were too spicy for me. I wish we could have adjusted the spice level when we ordered but that is not possible. Our server tried to give us tips on how to counter the spice, though. The dessert ice was a great way to end the meal.

Had an amazing dinner at Kalaya. Lindsey, our waitress, was incredibly helpful and helped us ensure our selection of dishes had a nice blend of spice levels for everyone at the table. The flavors were vibrant and delicious, and all the staff were very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and cannot wait to return.

We were able to make a reservation a week in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant, it took a few minutes for us to be seated. Our waitress was amazing and walked us through every dish. We ordered the laab ped, gaeng pae, nam prik long rua. Our waitress mentioned that the laab ped and gaeng pae are the spiciest items on the menu and recommended we get a vegetable to offset it. So we also got the kalum tod nam pla. The laab ped was good but very spicy. The gaeng pae was delicious and tender and not nearly as spicy as the laab ped. The pork belly was also phenomenal, but the ground pork was both too salty and too sweet. The cabbage was okay and definitely a good recommendation to help with the spiciness. For drinks we got the thom kha colada, lychee negronie, and Thai iced tea. They were all solid. Overall, it was a good experience. The staff did an amazing job. I thought that the gaeng pae was a little expensive for the amount of food you get while the nam prik long rua was a good deal.

First time coming here, immediately fell in love with the vibes, great atmosphere, very friendly and educated staff, they gave great recommendations. Loved the food, very spicy 🌶️ My mouth was burning in satisfaction and happiness. Everything was great but my favorite dish has to be the goong ob woonsen (grilled shrimp and glass noodle) and the Thai tea shaved ice.
