It's in a fairly run-down strip mall and the decor is, though clean and tidy, quite dated. Photographs of local minor celebrities, some that have been hanging there for some time, line the walls.
But from inauspicious surroundings, I was really pleased to stumble upon this place. The food was fresh and tasty, and the service staff quick and friendly. Egg Drop Soup hit the spot, thick with egg and just the right amount of salt. Beef Fried Rice was delicious and an entree of Chicken and String Beans was tender and crunchy in the right places. Chicken perhaps over-sauced but I'm grasping for criticisms - the food was great.
$20 got me more food than I could eat. Bread-stick-type things with sweet chili sauce, and tea, were brought to my table while I ordered and we're not on my bill. Very reasonably priced then.
Well worth the stroll from nearby hotels (I was in the Hilton), if you want a change from their own restaurants. Would definitely return if I'm in the area again.
Good option in City Ave area. Nearly everything near our hotel (Crowne Plaza at City Ave & Presidential) was a chain, which we hate. Read some good reviews of this place, which was an easy walk on sidewalks all the way. Shrimp in Tomato Sauce was excellent, as was Szechuan Beef. Offered to open the bottle of wine we'd carried in from the bar at our hotel and brought us glasses. I'd go back.
Good Food. Decent prices and amazingly friendly staff. They offer 10% student discounts with ID. I highly recommend the General Tso's and any of the lo meins. They will ask you if you want white/dark meat--something I had never heard of--though I only prefer white meat. The egg rolls are awesome. Do try!
My wife and in-laws have eaten here since the early 80s and still love it.
Chun Hing has the BEST hot and sour soup I've ever tasted. The General Tso's chicken was excellent and made to order. They made it not too spicy and brought me some hot sauce to make it just to my liking. They even added extra broccoli at no charge when I requested it. The service was fast and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
I first visited this Restaurant in 1998 and fell in love with the food and the Folks. Very good service. I have travelled most parts of these United States and only a few Chinese Restaurants can come close to Chun Hing. The Owner John is a great Gentleman with a smiling face. Their Pork and Watercress Soup, Steam Meat Dumplings, Fillet of Beef with Watercress are to die for. Over all great food and a decent atmosphere. The only thing missing is some Chinese Instrumental Music.
This place is a must go. My family has been going there for years and they have never given us a single bad dish. This is without a doubt some of the best Chinese food in the Philadelphia area. If you haven't eaten here yet, change that as soon as possible!

This place is incredible. I've been eating here for 24 years. You wont get food of this quality for this price anywhere else. I am a vegetarian, and I never have trouble finding something great to eat at Chun Hing. The vegetarian general tsao's chicken is the best I have ever had, and I have tried a lot of vegetarian general tsaos in my day. I also highly recommend the singapore noodles (ask for it without meat) the eggplant with garlic sauce (ask for it with tofu!) and the veggie moo shu. The service is wonderfully friendly, and they are always accommodating to any dietary restrictions you might have.
One of the best Chinese food in the area. Lot of flavors and freshness. Try honey walnut chicken and pork with yishing sauce. Many people do take out, but table service is quite excellent. The shopping mall looks run down, but don't let it fool you.
Chun Hing is my favorite place to eat on the planet. I have been eating (DUMPLINGS!) there for over thirty years. My family takes out once a week or so, but eating there is where it's at. DUMPLINGS! The menu is excellent and extensive. Some favorites include the steamed and fried meat DUMPLINGS!, which are addictive, thin-skinned, and yummy with the red vinager sauce. My son and I can eat about twenty in a sitting. In fact, we are going there now.
Also love filet of beef with watercress, Singapore noodles, general tsaus chicken (sp?), scallion pancakes, cumin chicken, chicken fried rice with pineapple, chicken/beef in black bean sauce, lo mein, whole fish, everything else...
The BEST Chinese food ever. The Dumplings are amazing and no one anywhere makes them better. My all time Fave is the Lobster with scallions - The BEST - Little Bicki
