Great food, comfortable atmosphere, awesome beer selection, and amazing location. Could you ask for anything else? Staff is friendly, place is clean. Would highly recommend for a great bite to eat or a place to stop and hang.
I have travelled all over the US, ate at the the so called best places in each town and found this gem so close to home. We loved the “Ho Down” Texas rib is to die for...... We will be back every 3 months when we are in town and if schedules get us there sooner we will definitely stop by Baby Blues!
Excellent. I had the Pig Candy Bacon as a starter and then the Brisket. Brisket was moist and juicy. Collard Greens were some of the best I've ever had and the Corn Bread is very unique. Great vibe going on and staff is very friendly. The owner seems like a great guy who really cares about his customers.
The service was impeccable, the waitress answered all of our questions and had some great suggestions. The only downside was that most of our sides were cold, they did replace them but those sides were just as cold as the previous ones. Other than that everything else was delicious, they have 4 different types of sauces that you can mix and match or silhouette. Over all it was good.
Food was amazing especially if you are a meat lover. Decor is unique. Place was clean. Our waitress was great. We shared our dish and still had leftover. The price is worth it for the amount of food you receive. There is meter parking across the street but since it's near the university, finding close parking may be a challenge. So if you're in the Philly area, in particular near the university area (UPenn), stop by and enjoy a nice full meal. You will not leave unsatisfied. Bon appétit!
Baby Blues BBQ is a hidden gem in West Philadelphia. The atmosphere is quaint although they have too many mirrors along the walls. Their reputation for quality comfort food is nothing compared to actually dining in. The ribs and chicken were smoked and sauced deliciously(there are 4 different sauces), the greens are seasoned with the right amount of meat and heat, the potato salad tastes homemade and they have a variety of other offerings that are perfect for the most sensitive of tastebuds. I highly recommend trying this restaurant for a quick bite or a satisfying meal.
Master's degree celebration for my daughter in law. Initially we thought they couldn't accommodate the group because we had a person in a wheelchair. However, due to out door seating and the weather cooperating we stayed and had a great experience. The sweet potato fries were amazing and my grilled shrimp sandwich was different & tasty. There wasn't a lot of choices for the kids but French fries was the go to selection. They had quite a few different appetizers that others tried candy bacon with mac n cheese & fried green tomatoes. I recommend the restaurant. We when early afternoon and was able to find parking but I wouldn't try it in the evenings due to parking issues and accessibility. These restaurants and public places need to address accessibility for handicap individuals. That's my sidebar comment.
I went with a few others and the food, along with the service was outstanding. Despite it being a little pricey, the portions were a good size (my beef rib was about 1/3 of the size of the plate) and none of us finished our plates and had to take them home. My only real complaint is that the place is a little small is size for seating and my group ended up seated directly next to a heater on the wall that blew hot air directly on us the entire time we dined. It make our drink become warmer much faster than we liked and had us choose a particular seating arrangement because of others in our group not wanting to sit directly in the line of hot air (I ended sitting directly in the line of hot air). Overall, a great place and we'll go again once we have the money.
25 minutes and 25 bucks for a burger and Mac n cheese (tip included). I’d say the burger was pretty tasty, despite the caramelized bacon being pretty chewy, though I would pass on the Mac n cheese. It tastes alright, but not worth 6 bucks extra.
Still think it was a decent experience, great atmosphere and would probably consider coming back to try more food, but with friends next time since I hadn’t realized it was a sit down place. Also, the 3rd high top table farthest on the left is VERY wobbly. Might need something to level it out.
The food is delicious! Memphis style ribs are the ones to get, but start with dry wings and make your own sauce combo. The cornbread is excellent as well, and the fixin's are a nice element on the side - try the okra. The staff are polite but sometimes a little inattentive (we had to ask the hostess for more water).
This man would give you the sleeve off his pants. Im not drunk saying that, the guy next to me is. John, the owner, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great meal and the service is fantastic all around. The ribs are so tender, the wings and sauces are all banging. Highly recommend this spot. Best BBQ in Philly.
Fantastic service, amazing BBQ food, real southern vibes, and great sauces!
My blackened catfish and okra were fantastic, and their homemade cornbread is such a great side. Meals are a little small, so appetizers would probably be a good move if you're a big eater. pictured are a half rack of ribs, blackened catfish, the brisket, and a smattering of self-explanatory fixins'. also, the Southern Tier hazy and juicy IPA and a Bloodline IPA.
