Backhaus German Bakery & Deli

Cute little bakery with fresh bread (mostly sold out during my pre-holiday visit), breakfast, lunch, pastries and cakes and some other German items (meats/cheeses/spices). The parking was a bit tricky off a busy road with only a few spots allocated for Backhaus...but it was worth the hassle as the streusel was very good! I wish they still had some eggnog cake to try too! Great local spot!

Tiny shop that is positively jam packed with scrumptious delectables. We tried several pastries to accompany our holiday festivities. The bee sting and the streussel were my personal favorites. As well we purchased several different sausages for afternoon snacking charcuterie options. Beyond that there are too many discoverable delights to list here but we found several we couldn't even find online that I won't mention for fear others buy them before I have a chance in the future :-D.

This is an authentic German bakery. We had the quark streussel which was delicious. We also had breakfast sandwiches: turkey, mozzarella and egg croissant, and a spinach and feta danish type good. Both were extremely tasty. We had samples of meat sticks and bought one of those too. People were friendly, service was quick once orders were placed. The baked goods are all done in house. The meats are brought in from a butcher. This place is a gem for Mount Dora.

I ordered a princess Charlottw cake for my wifes birthday and its the most beautiful cake I have seen in a long time. Their pastries are amazing and great tasting as well. The offer a variety of breads including gluten free. They offer other german delicatessens in the shop such as sausages and cheese. The ladies behind the counter are very friendly and helpful. If you want a top tier bakery this place is one of them. I can see parking can get tight but there is a parking lot across the train tracks to support the business in this shopping village.
