Countryside Cafe

You know when you walk into a restaurant and it's buzzing with activity, and you just know it's going to be great? That's how I felt when entering Countryside Cafe. Unfortunately, that did not play out for us. The wedge salad with blue cheese crumbles, bacon and tomatoes was very good with crispy smoked bacon and huge crumbles. The fried flounder was heavily breaded and dry. My mother's spaghetti actually had water in the bottom as though they forgot to drain it before putting on the sauce. They forgot to bring her side dish. My granddaughter had the chicken tenders, which were very meaty and tender and she declared them good.. The onion rings, tho, were dripping with grease. Our server appeared to be serving nearly the entire restaurant and did not have time to check back on us at all. Perhaps a staffing shortage is impacting quality. Unfortunately busy did not translate to great in this instance.

Worst experience I’ve ever had here. If I could give 1 star I would. The chicken tenders was so hard I couldn’t bite them, the macaroni and cheese was watered down- minus the cheese, the skillet fried sweet potatoes wasn’t skillet fried more like fresh out of a can and stone cold. Entire meal for 3 was pathetic… think twice before eating here.

If you are in the mood for some "down home" southern cooking then this is the place. We love it! The Pot Roast, Baked Mac-N-Cheese, Fried Okra, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Meat Loaf, Turnip Greens...etc. are great. The staff is always friendly and the service was great as well. I highly recommend it!

Food was good, hostess was great. She took us to table that had been cleaned off, but hadn't been swept underneath. She quickly swept it up. Another girl took our drink order and was back before hostess got back to make sure we had our drinks. We waited 25min, for someone else to take our order. Food was out quick really quick, and was brought out by a completely different girl than the others we had seen. We no more than got our food and the lady that took our order asks if she could get us anything else,and we replied "no, not at the moment". Halfway through our meal, the check was placed on the table. Didn't say a word or ask if we needed anything. We finished our meal, ran out of drinks and was waiting for someone to check on us. We had wanted desert, but had so many people waiting on us at the beginning, we didn't know who our waitress was. Eventually we walked to counter to pay and grabbed desert there to go. Atmosphere was good. Service was just the worst part of the whole experience.

Old Time Service and Food This is our first visit and won't be our last. If you're looking for a restaurant steeped in tradition and history, this is it. It didn't take us long to get a table even though the restaurant was packed both inside and in the outside drive through. Our waiter seemed off her game tonight but I do know they were short staffed like most restaurants in early 2021. The menu isn't static, changing based on the days of the week and what's written on the whiteboards posted all around the location. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The portion sizes were great and they have free snacks given to children as you leave. Friendly & family like.
