While I did get my food to go, the person who took my order was SO nice and I even chatted with a few people sitting and having dinner at a table. I got a bacon cheeseburger and it was one of the Best burgers I've ever had!!! So delicious, I ate the whole thing!
My family and I just stopped by Roxey's for the first time ever to grab a bite to eat after a day of picking blueberries and I must say that it was a fantastic little dive. The best burgers in town, hands-down, and the owners were just as friendly as can be. I can't believe that I've never been in there before.
One of the downsides of local gems such as Roxey's these days is that nobody wants to work anymore since Michigan is quickly becoming a welfare state like California or New York. As soon as we walked in, the owners were up front and told us that they're understaffed and have been working open to close for who knows how many days/weeks/years now, and asked for patience as they might not be able to get to us as quickly as we'd like. We weren't in a hurry, and there was an open table large enough for our part of seven, so that wasn't a problem. With that being said, we still had our orders taken and food on the table faster than we anticipated, so zero complaints there.
Unfortunately, the couple that came in after us wasn't so forgiving, decided that waiting wasn't worth it, and got up and left after sitting for five or ten minutes. You could tell the owners took it pretty hard. They're goal is to make the experience the best that they possibly can for all of their customers, but when you're holding down the fort from open to close without any help, you can only spread yourself so thin.
Keep that in mind if the place is hopping, and don't take it personally if you're waiting for a few minutes. Instead of waiting and being impatient or rude, just stand up, walk three feet to the bar, and get yourself some drinks while you're waiting for someone to take your order. If your legs ain't broken, there's no excuse not to use them.
You have to understand what you're stepping into when you walk into this place - it's not a fast food restaurant, nor is it a grab and go. The food and drink is made and served by a limited number of hard working folk - who do their best even with a frequent overload of patrons. While it did take a little while to get our food, it came out piping hot and fresh off the grill. This place is a great experience of a small hometown bar and grill.
Very friendly service and an amazing small bar atmosphere. You can tell some good times are had here. The food was exactly what I needed and very delicious. Well worth it stopping here to eat.
I wasn't sure about this place, but my sister and niece talked me into it. Waitress/bartender was very busy taking drink and food orders. Then trying to get the food out, once done, out in a timely manner. I would go there maybe during the week and not when it's so busy on a football Sunday.
Happened to stumble upon this little gem after being in the backcountry for several days. A perfect landing spot for an AMAZING BURGER, beer, bloody, crazy good cheeses curds and FANTASTIC SERVICE, thanks to John the bartender. You can tell this is a local joint and I absolutely loved it! I will be returning!
Great food, friendly staff. The Lil Roxey burger was incredible. Will comeback again!
Cranky server (in a good way :)), reasonable priced beer and food. Great taste. Definitely will come back if I'm in town. Definitely get the piggy fries.
My friend has dietary issues and for being a bar they did a good job of meeting her needs. We sat at the bar and the gal working was super sweet and the food is delicious. Prices very reasonable.
The best moscow mules in town. The food was delicious!! I got a scrumptious bbq pulled pork sandwhich and my lady got a yummy cheeseburger with all the fixings and an egg. I definitely reccomend swinging by and grabbing some food and drink
