It takes a lot for me to give a 5 star review for a BBQ place. Everyone said that if you’re in KC, you have to eat the gas station BBQ it’s the best. I heard it from too many people to pass it up again. I had high expectations and I wasn’t let down. The ribs were great, the pulled pork is the hero, the sausage was one of the best I’ve had and I’m not a sausage fan. Plus the coleslaw and beans were good. My wife couldn’t decide between the beans and fries, and went with the beans, and they threw on a side of fries. Excellent customer service to top things off. This place has well earned high reviews.
When in Kansas one must eat BBQ and we did. After a hard day in the office we finally decided on Joes. I had the burnt end special, they were moist and an ample amount. My coworker had the pit boss salad which he scarfed. A great place
The food was good. The chicken was amazing, the potato salad was weird and not very good. We waited in line about 20 minutes. It was pretty steady and they moved quickly.
Soccer Tournament Weekend in KC :
We had to try BBQ while in KC and we picked a great place.
There was a line but it moved very fast and it was worth waiting.
We had smoked chicken, brisket , ribs, and fries to die for ...yes if you're french fry lover you need to get a bag of them to share ( HUGE BAG )and whatever you do put sauce all over whatever you order their sauces are some of the very best anywhere.
Grab many bottles to take home and if you're from St.Louis grab me a few ...
There’s no shortage of barbecue restaurants in the Kansas City area. And there’s no shortage of what items they will put on a grill or smoker, pulled pork or brisket, to house-made chipotle sausage, and even lamb ribs. I got the Rib-Dinner (Half-Slab) which came with one side dish of my choice and a Texas toast. they were so good! [...]

We had a very nice meal. We went about 9pm. Wasn't too busy. I would recommend the burnt ends & I loved the fries. My daughter didn't like the kids menu, but she is picky.
It was good, yes. But not this legendary thing it's made out to be. I was a little disappointed. My ribs and brisket were both pretty cold when they served me. I wish I had liked it more!
Lucked out here yesterday and got to eat lunch with only waiting in line for about 5 minutes. Got the burnt end sandwich special with fries. Great, great, great, great, great, great, great.
Been here a few times. Great BBQ. Is it the best? Hard to say. I think this place has the best brisket; but I do like Jack Stack's ribs and prime rib ribs better. Plus Joes does not have burnt ends on the menu. Long lines here always, but now you can get a Blvd Beer while in line. Try the Tank 7 on tap/ has a nice citrus edge to the aftertaste. Line moves quick enough and prices are moderate for BBQ. Of the sides, the potato salad is insanely good. So good I might commit felonies if I could get the recipe. Good service too. If you travel through here and don't hit this place you are missing out on life.
The line is long but the food is worth the wait! Stick it out I promise you won't be disappointed! Also note you can order it as carrying out and there is no line there and you don't have to worry about finding a seat to eat.
I don’t have any photos to post.. it was so good we ate it too fast to take any! 😆
I had the chicken Z-Man—so delicious! The seasoned fries were also very yummy as was the mac & cheese. We were on the lookout for some of the best KC barbecue and Joe’s was recommended by a local.. we were not disappointed!
First time visiting and I’m from Kansas City. I’m partial to another BBQ company but, Joe’ KC has me hooked. In all honesty, as we were eating all we could hear were people at other tables telling people in their party to try how good their meal was. The ribs have a great flavorful rub taste and have the perfect texture to pull them right off the bones, without being over cooked. The brisket was amazing! I’m a fan of saucy style beans and theirs were more of a chili style. I wasn’t a huge fan of their coleslaw since it was more crisp and light on the sauce. I like my coleslaw with more mayo texture. With that being said, they were still good.
When you walk in, you feel like you’re being pulled back into the early stockyard days or an old saloon. The atmosphere and design was well planned out. Fun place, great food and reasonably priced.
We ordered online for carryout. The instructions online and were clear and concise. We checked in with the attendant at the shed and parked in the designated area. Our food was brought out on time and we took it back to the house.
The food we ordered was brisket, ribs, spicy slaw, the seasonal corn salad, and potato salad. The ribs and brisket were wrapped in butcher paper and the brisket was additionally wrapped in plastic wrap to avoid spills. We also received two containers of the bbq sauce which was very delicious.
Everything tasted delicious! The brisket was sliced deli thin, but that did not take anything from the taste. The ribs were easy to strip from the bone and were also very good.
We would definitely try this again if we come back to Kansas City!
We're visiting KC from Colorado, and I'm originally from the south. These ribs and burnt ends are the best I've EVER had anywhere. Highly recommend if you're in the area!
Fast service and amazing food. They also do a great job at making sure everything is clean after each guest leaves.
Today I personally witness customer service at it's best when my order was wrong. The management and the staff were both excellent with the way they handled the situation. I recommend anyone to visit Joe's and enjoy their service and quality!!!
Wonderful dining experience! Our family stopped here for lunch, driving home to Wichita from KC. My half chicken dinner had the perfect amount of smoke-flavor in the meat. Plus, the baked beans with bits of pork and carmalized onions were delicious!
