Review Bella Vista - Oklahoma City

Austin Jassman
10 out of 10! Ordered the house salad with their house dressing - kind of like a gormet creamy italian house dressing. 10/10 better than any salad I've had at home or any restaurant! The bread they bring out is baked to perfection with a crisp outside and very soft inside. From 11am - 2pm are the lunch specials which are $8.25 and come with salad and bread. We ordered the lasagna and the manicotti. Both are delicious! Another 10/10! Lasagna I liked better just because. Pasta is gourmet as well! This place is not very appealing on the outside but totally different atmosphere when you walk in and have this delicious gourmet meal!! Definitely recommend to all. Also have a separate menu for custom meal prep! Just give 4 days advance and they set you up! Going to look into that! I will post a review soon on it!

We love this place! The food is fabulous and the owner is the sweetest lady. Every time we go we say we will take pictures of the food, but it’s always so good that we forget to take pictures until after we eat!

Great food and gigantic portions! The fettuccine with chicken is fantastic and unlike any fettuccine you get at other restaurants, 2 of us share this meal. The eggplant parmigiano is delicious. I order the meatballs appetizer and use them the next day for spaghetti at home. Local owner... check hours for the summer because they close from June to September.

Everything is made there in the restaurant and it is delicious! My family always has a jar of their homemade salad dressing at home because it is one of the best things to bless your taste buds! I have not indulged in any of their Greek food but I'm sure it's just as delectable! You get way more bang for your buck in flavor and quantity. Definitely recommend!

Went last week for the first time. This is real Italian food. It's homemade, as in EVERYTHING is made from scratch, the noodles, the sauces, the meats, everything. I love it. I definitely will be back again. It's a hole in the wall place, but it's so delicious and prices are perfect for homemade food. I suggest everyone come here if you want some Italian.

We've been going here since I was a baby, the food is delicious. The owners use the best ingredients and the bread is freshly baked! We know the owners personally and you will never meet someone more dedicated to their work. If you ever go, ask for the Italian Cream Cake! It's one of a kind. And I've noticed that people have been complaining that there's no wine. That's true, but it's an Italian Greek mix so it's not that strange.
Tiffany Parkman
The food here is incomparable and the owners are incredibly gracious. Do not be deterred by the appearance of the building. It leaves much to be desired. Coming from a family of Sicilian chefs, and growing up in the food business of the Carlino family in the Bay Area, I can honestly say that this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Oklahoma.

A real gem! I don't go out often for Italian food because I can cook it better in my own kitchen. My grandparents were from Italy. I had my doubts when we pulled up to the place. It looks like a shack, but the food is incomparable. I've never had better food in a restaurant. Ever. Looks can be deceiving, don't judge this book by its cover! The plates are between 10 and 17 dollars, but are well worth it. It's real Italian dining, and you get A LOT of food. You should expect to split a dish or bring home leftovers. The appetizers are amazing as well.
Alicia
The food was AMAZINGGGG. The Italian is authentic, big portions and definitely have leftovers to bring home. And being Greek myself, the Greek food IS ON POINT 👐 the price is higher but the portions fit the price. We ordered two things each and the table was SPREAD, and there was just two of us!! I recommend to all my fraaands who I want to know of this little yummy gem

This really is one of the better Italian places in town. Not only is the food great, the portion sizes excellent, and the value incredible but the owners are extremely friendly and attentive. I've always had an affinity for small family-run Italian places and this one fits the bill! Don't be in a rush, just sit back and enjoy yourself.

Homemade marinara sauce, homemade bread, homemade meatballs... how could you ask for a better meal? The manicotti was amazing and the owners are passionate about their food. I highly recommend this place!

Always have great food. Authentic Italian and Greek. Service can be slow, but that's because they make everything from scratch, so be prepared to wait for your food. It's worth the wait.
john steen
This is the best Italian food in OKC. Be prepared for it to take awhile because they cook everything fresh, but it's totally worth the wait. Unfortunately they may be closing their doors soon, because business is slow, but this place is definitely a hidden gem

Excellent Food!! Fun place. I wish they served wine. They do serve Beer. Very generous portions so take it home and enjoy several meals from one order!
Jose Trujillo
Fresh ingredients. Amazing portion size. Great atmosphere and service. You feel like you've been invited over for a meal. Everything homemade.

Amazing place to eat! I had the gyro and it was the best one I've ever had. It looks sketchy on the outside but give it a try. It's definitely worth it.
Matthew Hearne
All food is made after you order, even the bread. It takes a little longer but is worth it. The waitress was not to fast to first contact us and was much more hospitable to the next customers; that is why 4 stars.
Gregory Stiles
The very finest in authentic Italian food. Reminds me of Phil Custino's restaurant from years ago. Ordered lasagne and could not finish my plate. You will not leave this place hungry.
Jmorphj
Unremarkable. Below average.
I ordered lasagne. The menu suggests a spicy marinara, beef, and 5 cheeses.
The order was served in a metal dish on a plate, with tomato sauce in a separate bowl.
I was expecting a layered piece, cut from a casserole, or cake pan.
I cut through what was obviously a layer of mozzarella, over lasagne noodles.
No evidence of marinara, ricotta, or any other cheeses.
Beef? Virtually non-existent.
Basil or parsley? Fuh-gedda-boud-it
The lasagne noodles were literally stacked, with very little of anything layered between.
No discernible seasoning. Salt? Pepper?
The tomato sauce was something from a jar.
The small piece of flavorless bread was even more disappointing, if not insulting.
There’s nothing amazing, authentic, or incredible about this place.
Except the hoax they’re getting away with.
Okies are so dumb.
Matthew Burgher
We travel 9 months out of the year for work. I decided a pizza or some Greek would be nice. This place....amazing. Authentic, prices are unbelievably reasonable and the food...holy crap! Step away from Applebee's people and give this place a shot. If I'm ever back in Oklahoma City, it's on!
Kyle Cooper
This place is wonderful if you are looking for authentic Italian/Greek dishes. This is a very low key hidden treasure of a place. It has its regulars and is always busy. From the outside this place is nothing special, it's honestly a hole in the wall. Don't let that scare you off tho. The food is 100% Homemade and it is delicious. The servings aren't just huge they are massive and well worth the money. I would recommend everyone trying this place. This place is hands down better quality than any of the fancy, up scale, wanna be Italian restaurants.
Captain Hook
Do not go there. The place is very small and there is limited wait staff and cooks. The food is minimal at best. The service is slow and the pasta is far overcooked. The pasta sauce tastes like it comes from a jar, The serving sizes are far too large. I would much prefer to have a better quality meal in place of the quantity. There are too many good places to eat Italian food in the Oklahoma Coity area. Whomever wrote a review better than a 2 has never eaten Italian except out of a can...
Julie Elaine
Dont let the location or appearance fool you, this is literally the best Italian food I have ever had. It's our "go to" whenever we have the chance for a date night, and have gone about once every month or two for 5 years. For two people with appetizers it's usually around $40, and we always have leftovers. Excellent food, and very generous portions. I would STRONGLY recommend the fettuccine alfredo, it's the best I've ever had and their pizzas and massive calzones leave mainstream pizza joints with their tails between their legs.
Pallas Johnson
The place was super cold, so I had to wear my jacket the whole meal. The bread is plain, but the marinara is really tasty. I had the lasagna and it was very good. If you eat here, get their lunch special to save money.
Nigel Bunshaft
It is now four months after our first visit. The outside temperature is 80 degrees and the indoor temperature is delightful. Amazing how much easier it is on the HVAC when it is 50 degrees warmer!

BTW on our first visit I guess I failed to mention that a goodly portion of the surrounding areas were still without power due to the ice storms. Back then these folks still managed to produce some really hot and tasty food!

This Visit

The food is still great. And the plants, fountain, and decor all work together to give the impression of being outdoors on a patio or somesuch.

This time I had the Avgolemono soup and Chicken Fetuccine Alfredo.

The soup is a traditional Greek rice soup thickened with egg and lemon. Quite interesting and tasty. It comes with two pieces of Brushetta that were equally good.

The Chicken Fetuccine Alfredo was some of the best I have ever tasted. Seems it has a sauce that is based more on cheese than cream which makes it extremely tasty. Well done!

======================

Four Months Earlier

Ok, the food is really good.
And the place was freezing. Albeit it was 30 degrees outside, but I doubt it got above 55 inside where we were sitting. No we were NOT anywhere near the door. I was in a thick hooded sweat shirt and was still cold. I kept thinking that mittens were in order. Every diner, to a person, was bundled up in winter coats and scarves. We're talking 7pm on Saturday evening so they had been open for many hours.

First thing I ordered was a bowl of the Lentil Soup. It came out quickly, and very hot, in a large bowl. Life was instantly better although holding the ice cold spoon was a bit of a distraction (later to be accompanied by cameos by the ice cold fork and butter knife).

The Lentil Soup had a nice consistency and unlike many lentil soup variants I have had, seemed to have a tomato base with onions and garlic. A nice dish which reminded me just a bit of the flavor of pork & beans although obviously neither of those ingredients were present. Certainly tasty and unique ... and did I mention HOT!

Ordered the Bella Vista pizza. Their small was way more than I needed even if I had not consumed the bowl of soup. The short story is lots of ingredients, seemingly fresh and well prepared.

We also got the Lasagna. Huge portion with meat, cheese, pasta, and sauce. Warm and tasty.

So - the food is great but you might want to slip into your woolen undies on colder days when you plan to eat here.

Note: on the way out we encountered an enclave of warmer tables around the fountain. I wonder if the issue might be attributed to a lack of insulation in the outside walls. You might want to try to be seated near the fountain!
Super Star
The decor is awful and the food is worse. I ordered the chicken piccata and I can honestly say it was the worst piccata I have ever tasted. I should have known when the dish arrived and it was gray - pretty much no variation - just gray. The sauce was weirdly lumpy yet also runny. Not sure how you achieve a texture like that but I hope it wasn't on purpose. All around Yuck.
There are some positive reviews on this site so perhaps I went on an off night or I ordered the wrong dish, but I will never go back to find out. Don't say I didn't warn you.

This restaurant is probably the best Italian food that I have ever had in my life of existence. The restaurant is in sketchy location, if they had another restaurant in a better location, this place would boom in business.
The portions are enormous for a fraction of the cost (seriously, you can probably feed two people with one plate of pasta for such an inexpensive cost). You get way too much food for a little amount of price. The appetizers are delicious, I would recommend the garlic bread with cheese, literally the best I've ever had. I can't even single off a dish that isn't as equally good as the other ones. Just kidding, personally, start off with garlic bread and cheese, for an entree, order the Chicken Alla Parmigiano or their famous Lasagna! The Italian Cream cake is a MUST try if you still have room in your belly! The pictures posted below, we ended up paying only $24.38 for all of the food we got!

NOTE: If you are ordering pizza, beware the portions are enormous and you will most likely in need of a box to take-home the left overs. The restaurant also caters to large parties.

I would recommend this place to anyone. I usually came here with large group of friends to have a great time. The servers are somewhat attentive and the services is a little slow, but literally the food will blow your mind. Sadly, the place closes from June 26th until September 1st because the family is going home to Italy for the summer.

Brandon Pham

Great food. The pizza is fantastic. Building looks sketchy but don't be fooled, it's some of the best Italian food around.

The best food I have eaten all year-maybe all the last several years!. I have been to Bella Vista 10-15 times in the last several years. It is one of my favorite places. I always got the lasagna.. because I'm typically a red sauce person. However, last night I diverged and got the Chicken Piccata.. and OMgooness, it was the most delicious food I have had all year. Very rich. Very large portion. I have eaten half of my leftovers for lunch today and will finish off the rest for dinner. But seriously. I can't think of a better dinner that I've had in ages. It was divine. This place STILL rocks-they have hired in some extra help. We got there at 7:00 pm on a Friday night and left about 8:20. It was perfect in every way. :) And their house salad and house Italian garlic dressing are amazing too..

Was great once. Now that user new management/grandma isn't there anymore and the sons have taken over its gone down hill alot. Family ran but they seem to have lost the recipes. Still okay food in large portions. Service is slow as usual but would still eat there on occasion.

Not impressed. Moved to OKC from another state, so my family and I wanted to find a great Italian place. The look of the place inside and out screams Italian "greasy spoon" which is a very high compliment for us; we were excited to try this authentic-touted food. We visited on a Friday evening about 6 pm. Easy to get seated and the place filled up by the time we left; loved the music being played and the atmosphere. We really enjoyed the crusty bread served before our entrees... warm, very homemade. Two of us ordered side salads with house dressings... they were lackluster, basically yellowed lettuce with a bit of shredded carrot. Mine even had a huge chunk of browned lettuce... I would have been embarrassed to serve it to anyone. The dressing was okay. We ordered different entrees, which were HUGE... Chicken Marsala, Fettucini Alfredo w/ Chicken, Manicotti. The Chk Marsala was like none I'd ever had... way too red, rich, overpowering flavor of paprika, the mushrooms were totally overpowered, the chicken tasted overcooked and dry. The Alfredo was extremely cheesy... okay at best. The Manicotti had a yummy sauce/cheese combo, but the crepes/pancakes were soggy. the service was average; what we would expect from a family-owned place which is not competing with all the chains. Our bill which included soft drinks ($80+) was expected since we looked at the online menu before our visit, but given the lackluster food way-overpriced. Overall, since the main purpose is food, our visit was disappointing... this was our first and last visit.

Disgusting. I've eaten a lot of Italian and this is by far the worst I've ever had. We were so excited to try it because of the backstory and the positive reviews. Omg, it was horrible. Never ever again.
Ryan
Don't go by the ratings on this one. I have no idea why this place is highly rated. The food is well below average and the place is in need of a remodel. Instead of giving you enough food for 3 people they should try to give you food one person would actually want to eat.
Hanya
Called 4 times at 1:20 & didn't answer!

Awesome every time we go. Great service, and the food blows the chain restaurants away.

Friendly, Wonderful Place. I know Bella Vista Restaurant since they opened their doors to customers; it's always a memorable delicious experience everytime i take my family to eat here. I love it and recommend to everyone who is looking for a great place of Italian taste. Thank you Bella Vista for your passion, service and hard work!

Well, having heard a few positive things about this place we decided to try it. I got the spaghetti and meatballs, wife the manicotti and my son a sub. Spaghetti was just ok and probably wound not been as good without the meatballs and even then it just wasn't that great. Not sure why it's so hard to find good spaghetti in OKC. The manicotti was ok as was the sub. Really was hoping this place would be really good but it wasn't. My biggest complaint? A relatives little boy banged on a toy drum set the entire the we were there. Absolutely disrespectful and unprofessional. Even if the food had been good, I would never go back for that reason alone. The search for good Italian continues.
Eva Renee
There's a bit of a wait, but the service is excellent. Both the waitress and host checked on our table frequently and kept our drinks full. The food was incredible. Definitely the best Italian food I've ever had, and they have big portions. I recommend Bella Vista over any standard Italian restaurant such as Olive Garden or Zio's.
Chris Lambert
I was very pleased with the food, and the portions are large. My wife has eaten here before, but today was my first time. She really likes the spaghetti alla bolognese. I loved the pastitsio. This could seriously become my go-to comfort food. Bella Vista definitely isn't fast, so go when you have time, but you won't likely be disappointed.
Chris
Please Stop Calling This Authentic Italian. This restaurant is yet another reason why most of America is ignorant about real Italian food. There is nothing Italian about this restaurant. American-Italian, yes. But true Italian, as from Italy, no. In Italy, they serve pasta as its own course called Primo (plural Primi), not as a meal. They don't cover their pasta in huge amounts of sauce, but barely any sauce at all (it is actually a condiment to the pasta, aka Condimento). They don't serve cheese with fish or shellfish. To even suggest that Bella Vista is Authentic Italian is like saying Taco Mayo is authentic Mexican.

Now sure, the food is pretty good. There's nothing wrong with pouring 3 cups of tomato sauce on top of overcooked spaghetti from a box. But please, stop calling it real, authentic, genuine, true Italian.
Heather
Best Italian in town! Prepare to wait though or go early :)
Mchellebelle
So worth the wait... but expect the wait!. If you want a fast lunch, go to Olive Garden. If want the best authentic Italian food that will make your mouth water and having you leaving with a "too full" tummy, and don't mind waiting for it, Bella Vista is the place for you. This place is completely family owned and run. There is a married couple and their mom... that's it. The wife waits tables and cashiers so she is crazy busy, but with just one of her, expect a wait for your order to be taken, etc. With that being said, when your food arrives, you will immediately see why this place is amazing! They make their alfredo sauce to order and it is the best thing ever! And the lasagna is awesome too!I My daughter even had an Italian sub and raved about it! love this place!
Bob
We found Bella Vista by google. This place has to be a front. The service is horrible. Unfriendly. Hole in the wall. Two beer selections Bud n Bud Light. Gabriella's is the place for Italian!!
Kelly Pettit
Amazing people and amazing food! Worth the wait! Big Portions and inexpensive!
James Wilbanks
Tried going to the Olive Garden, but the wait time was 45 min to 1 hour. I've heard good things about Bella Vista, so we decided to give it a try.

Arrived at 6:00 pm, and to our suprise, they had an open table, so we were seated right away. At about 6:10, someone finally came to take our drink order, and was served our drinks shortly thereafter. Then, we sat and waited for to give our order. We sat and waited some more. Finally, around 6:30, we gave our order.

My observations were these: 1. Only one waiter working. She was also the cashier (I'll get to that part here shortly). She was very busy and running back and forth getting orders from the kitchen, taking orders, refilling drinks, and cashing out customers. 2. Instead of taking orders, she would make a round of refills. Then she would pick up an order, and then finally take an oder.
3. Orders did not come out together. We had a table of three. I got my plate first, followed by my wifes plate a couple minutes later, expecting my grand-daughters plate to follow. Instead, she took a plate to an adjacent table. Finally, about 4-5 minutes later, she brought out my grand-daughters plate.

The food was partially good, and, partially decent. The lasagna was pretty good. The fetuccini alfredo was somewhat decent. Way too saucy. When asked to have mushrooms added, it was explained the would only be added as a side, but not mixed with the alfredo; disappointing.

All-in-all, this authentic restaurant is far from the chain restaurants. If your in any hurry to grab a quick bite to eat, then I would suggest elsewhere. While waiting behind someone to check out, the waitress/cashier took his credit card, left to help deliver salads, came back to swipe the card, then left again to take a plate to a table, and finally came back to have the credit card receipt signed. It took about 4 minutes fir him to pay. Luckily, for me, I was the sole focus of her attention while I paid, and it only took a few minutes.

I would give my experience 2 out of 5 stars. I have heard and reads better reviews, however, my experience was not so great.
Mike Simpson
Delicious food, slow service. Had the lasagna. It was delicious. The best lasagna that I've had that I can remember. The bread that came with the meal was also fantastic. The only drawback was the extremely slow service. Hopefully this was an off night. We ordered drinks. It took no less than 10 minutes to receive our drinks. The waitress came to take our order, a bell went off signaling that food was ready. She immediately left before taking our order to go get the other table's food. I have no issue at all with that. You want the other table's food to be hot. While she was delivering the food, another table asked for to-go containers. She went and got that also before taking our order. We finally got to place our order then received the food. The food, like I said before, was amazing. The service was non-existant. There was one person taking orders and waiting on the tables. Want a refill on your drink? Not happening. Hopefully this isn't the norm. I will give Bella Vista another shot because of the outstanding food, but if the service is what you expect, this won't be a place I regularly visit.

Extremly impressive. I know true Italian food, being a 3rd generation Italian, raised in Chicago upstairs from my grandpa's pizzeria. I was very impressed with the food at Bella Vista.
The wife had the lasagna and I had the pizza. We both had salads with the homemade Italian dressing - wonderful. The bread was excellent and the Lasagna was the best I have ever had (sorry grandma, it is that good). The pizza was very good and the Italian sausage - excellent.
The decor touched a bit on an interesting old world romantic charm; reminding me of one of those rare ethnic restaurants you find in an Italian neighbor hood in Chicago or New York.
Overall, I highly recommend Bella Vista for the best Italian food in Oklahoma and, believe me, better then anything I found in Krebs, OK. Now, if only they had cannolis.
Sue S.
We're finding out that this place has been here for 11 years!!!! How did we not hear about it? Best Italian food I have EVER eaten, and it's all home cooked. We'll definitely make this one of our favorites.
Danielle King
BEST IN TOWN. Okay let me start off by saying if you don't try the Avgolemono soup when you go here you are missing out on the best soup you will ever have in your life. I could literally order it by the quart full if I could. The service is very friendly and the wonderful woman working there is always excited to tell you about any of the food and how she hand makes it! The Marsalla isn't for everyone but everything else I have tried there is amazing. Gotta try the Ziti Vodka, the lasagna is so meaty and full of chesse, the meatballs are fabulous and they even have great Gyros for lunch. This place is more than meets the eye and is absolutely worth stopping in.
Zach Pugh
I enjoy this place. Its not hip its not all that pretty in fact you probably wouldn't go here if someone didn't tell you it was a the best pizza in the city. It actually is though. They also have this sauce this dressing well its amazing. No seriously its amazing. I dont know what they do whats in it I dont care all i want is more. Lots lots more.
Jeff
Best house Italian dressing I've ever had. Pastas were really good too but the pizza was awesome.
Brad Townsend
Authentic Italian in OKC. I went there for my birthday with my wife and honestly had my doubts due to its location. However, while the outside is very rough, the atmosphere inside is warm and family-like. The service is Italian in nature (no rush), dinner is an experience not a drive-by. So be prepared to spend time here and enjoy the place.

The bread is fresh and is delicious. The salad is the best i have ever had (order the house dressing). My wife had the best Alfredo she has ever eaten (saying a LOT). My lasagna was good as well. Portions are large, and the price is very reasonable (around$10 per plate).

Goodbye Zio's and Carino's.....HELLO BELLA VISTA!!

P.S. They take reservations and its never a bad idea to have one.
Bobby
Great place good portions and tasteful... would recommend fresh grated parmasean to serve with the pastas, but over all it was great I will return!!
Angee W
Good non-Americanized italian. I've been here a handful of times and have liked everything i've tried (spaghetti bolognese, ziti alla vodka, fettuccini alfredo, and chicken marsala). The sauces are all very flavorful and you can tell the marinara simmers for hours. I tend to order chicken marsala just about everywhere I go, as it is one of my favorites. The version at bella vista was much different than other places, but still very good. the sauce had a sweeter taste than most, so it wasn't really comparable to the same dish at one of the chain restaurants. The same goes for the alfredo, as it is cheesy and not creamy. Both were very good, but one would probably be disappointed if you are expecting a certain flavor. The ziti alla vodka is probably my favorite thing i've tried, but their marinara sauce is tough to beat on other pasta dishes. The portions are huge, so expect plenty of leftovers! Bottom line: If you like various types of ethnic food and things that are very flavorful you will probably love Bella Vista. If you tend to stick to chain restaurants then it probably will not be to your liking.

A great place. We have been eating at Bella Vista for nearly as long as the place has been open. I have read some of the reviews here. One person said the bread was plain and white (obviously someone who knows nothing about freshly baked bread). This among other negative reviews is way off.

I have tried most everything here. It's all good. Their chicken parm (which, by the way, does not consist of chicken tenders) is probably my favorite. Their red sauce cooks for like 12 hours, and is like no other red sauce I have eaten. The fresh white meat chicken is always juicy. The breading has a lot of parm in it, and it is covered with their terrific cheese blend.

Their pizza is my favorite pizza. I actually like just straight old cheese pizza. It's amazing. Amazing.

Reading reviews is frustrating. It's clear that many think Italian food consists of Johnny Carino's. I have eaten authentic Italian food all over the country and Bella Vista stands up or surpasses any of them. By the way, the people are Italian Greeks. That's why they have some Greek food.

Bottom line is that their red sauce, bread, salad dressing, cheeses, and pizza doughs stand out. Whatever you order should include an assortment of these outstanding items. My only complaint is that they close every August for holiday (typical Europeans).

Love this place. Best eggplant parmesian ever... My family loves this place. My husband's fav is the manicotti. My daughter loves the penne alla vodka and it is good. We go there a lot in the winter months because they are usually closed in the summer time. The amount of food given is a ton for the prices so you definately get your money's worth. You will have enough left for a couple of meals when you leave. The desserts are very good, too. I recommend the tiramisu.
Donna.walton.l2t3
Different. I got the same thing I usually order which was the spaghetti bolognese and I always have to pour out alot of extra water into the salad bowl. I am not sure why they don't drain the pasta before putting it onto the plate but that's they way it always comes. I don't like to dilute the sauce down with all the extra water so I pour it off. Their sauce is good. I like the flavors and while the meat is so tiny you don't know you have meat the lunch time price is worth it. If you want something different than all the Italian chains this is the place to go. As with most places there are good days and bad days but they are pretty consistant whenever I've gone. They use alot of cheese on their lasagne and it comes out bubbly hot. The chicken parm is not good. It appears to be chicken tenders or strips with some sauce and cheese on top. Not to my liking. When you find something you like just stick with that and you'll be happy. Lunch prices are great for portion size.
Michael Miller Story
Worst meal I have EVER had..."salad" was ice burg lettuce with some awful runny watery dressing..."chicken Marsala" was absolutely disgusting!!...it was a cross between paprika gravy and gravy train dog food!!! It was crazy how bad it really was. It was Not chicken Marsala... I cook a lot and travel internationally ..not sure what it was? So if you wanna go...go...cause it is a trip...but not a good one!
Kyle Gregory
Best Italian in the area. Pizzas and calzones are both absolutely delicious and huge (even the small calzones are enough to feed three.). Don't order the Greek food and you'll be very happy here. The arrabiata is actually spicy spicy, the meatballs are tender, the house dressing is good, the eggplant is solid, the cacciatore is good, and the lasagna is delicious. The marsala is sweeter than I'm used to, so order it if you like sweeter marsalas. The sauces here are good and often incorporate wines into them to richen the flavor. This place isn't fast, so if you're in a hurry, call in an order. This is the best in Oklahoma City and probably the best outside of Krebs and won't hit the pockets too entirely hard. Only alcohol served is Bud/Bud Light.

Yum!. The best real home made Italian food I have ever tasted! Words cannot even explain how much I love Bella Vista!!! Try the alfredo, its positively superb! All the sauces are rich and full of flavor and the pasta is always cooked to perfection. The chicken picatta can be a little too tangy for my taste, but its still one of my top 3 choices!!
Anthony
REAL homemade Italian food. Its not processed like Olive Garden. It's not fast food Italian people. The only complaint is the bread was a little tough. Portions are huge so I know what I'm eating tomorrow for lunch. This place is awesome, wish they had one close to the house. The negative reviews are probably those who eat frozen pre-made Italian food I.e. Olive Garden, Carino's, etc......

I live on the southside of OKC and thought it was odd that there was an Italian restaurant in the middle of so many Mexican restaurants. I thought Bella Vista had to be a joke...but I took a chance that I have not since regretted. Since day one I have appreciated the mom and pop feel with the authentic Italian recipes. Everything is so inexpensive and the portions are huge. I'm not the biggest fan of Italian food (olive garden serving box chain food you could make at home) but Bella Vista has made a believer out of me! Try their lasagna or their pasta Ala vodka! Yummy!

Willing to try again but.... I thought it was just okay. It was pretty slow and the service was not that awesome ( I know it's a ma and pop thing but it was still pretty eh). I guess what really got me was that my friend ordered a salad and it ended up pretty much just being iceberg lettuce and rolled up lunch meat and it cost something like 9$. Maybe they were just having an off day or something but that was definitely not my idea of good time. I'm willing to try it again because so many people like it but I think I will need to give myself some time decompress that experience first. =/

***Excellent Food ***Think of Seinfeld when going there!. Excellent food, Totally worth going there. Just think of that episode of Seinfeld - "The Soup Nazi". I got a kick out of the service. All I could keep thinking about was that episode. I got the Greek Salad, it is to die for!! Homemade italian dressing is amazing!

Love this place!. I have been going here for several years now and it's consistently good. I love everything I've had. The pizzas/calazones are amazingly awesome and huge. The decorating/location is a little questionable. Service is descent considering there is only one waitress. It's a family fun business, so very little staff. I have only seen 3 different people there over the years, the waitress, the male chef and the older lady chef. They aren't extremely great as far as personality is concerned but the food makes up for that.

I've heard of Bella Vista for a couple of years but had never taken the time to go. This year for my birthday my mom asked where she could take me and after a few days thought I declared "Belle Vista"; it would either make for a great birthday celebration or...well I didn't want to think about that. I ordered the Chicken Marsala. While waiting for it to arrive I noticed the large servings being presented to other patrons. I think a small calzone could easily feed a couple if not a family of three. The Marsala arrived and it was WONDERFUL. Loaded with mushrooms and just the right amount of sweetness to the sauce. And the grilled chicken was seasoned well and tender. The serving size was so large that the left overs feed me for two additional meals. BV is now going to be my Italian of choice in OKC.

Nasty! I always wondered how you could screw up spaghetti or even alfredo sauce... Now I know! Please do not waste your time. The portions may be huge, but you will not get past the first bite! I literally dumped a bowl full of water from my plate of spaghetti bolognese(sp) !

Phenomenal food and so inexpensive loved it

REAL Homemade Italian!. Everything here is homemade from the salad dressing to the lasagna and dessert. Wonderful food...large portions...great lunch specials...

Go for the pizza but eat it there. I've taken it home and it gets soggy. I've had better Alfredo. Pizza rocks.

Yay! They are back from their summer break. They open 09/01/11!

Cannot get enough!. I love everything about this place. The lady that runs it/takes your orders is rather no nonsense, which most people take as rudeness. Personally, I find it rather endearing because I am quite similar. When you arrive, do not sit and yap for 20 minutes thinking you can take a million hours to order. Look at the menu, and decide what you want. She knows if you've been piddling and gets visibly agitated. Can you really blame her? Depending on how busy they are and how much preparation is required for your meal, you could wait a rather short amount of time or quite a bit. Regardless, the gloriousness that is the food here is well worth the wait. While you're waiting, they bring freshly baked bread with their special marinara - be careful not to gorge yourself on this alone. I cannot comment on what their desserts are like, because frankly, their portions are enough that I have lunch for 2 days after I've stuffed my face beyond recognition.

OMG SO SO SO GOOD!. Don't let the outside of the restaurant deter you from going in and enjoying the most amazing Italian food you have ever tasted in Oklahoma. I like Johnny Carino's, but I will probably never go back there after discovering this little gem. The most amazing thing I have tried there is the Tuscan Calzone. HOLY MOG! It is the best thing I've had in a while. I thought it looked gross when she first brought it out, but I was so wrong! And it's HUGE! The manicotti is good and very cheesy. If you want some good Italian food, go here, you will not be disappointed!

At first I was kind if worried because it seems like a hole in the wall kind of place..BUT the food here is amazing! Our Fav is the lasagna! It comes out boiling in a cauldron and is very tasty! We will be back for the fresh homeade bread too!

Best italian food i have ever had. primo's is the only other italian restaurant in the area, and they are nowhere near as good as bella vista. my mouth is watering just thinking about my next visit while writing this review.

Long waits, big flavors. This is definitely European eating, as there is little rush from the family members waiting the tables. I love the little old grandmother who doesn't even speak English! Expect to take a long time here, but know it will be worth it! I've been here three times with my boyfriend and loved our food all three times. The tiramisu was decadent!

Wonderful restaurant! The food was amazing. I had lasagna, my husband had shrimp Alfredo, and the kids had pizza. Portion sizes are huge. Service was great but I had a hard time understanding what she was saying with the accent.

Good Food,,Huge Portions. Their food is very good and their protion sizes are large. The small Calzone can feed two easily. They frown on you sharing an entre. Decor and outside of building are nothing to talk about. The staff is friendly but the service can be slow. It has improved on the speed in the last 6 months.

Great Authentic Food!. Great authentic food...loved it...

Fantastic food with a great atmosphere and authentic foods!! I will be suggesting this to tons of friends and if you haven't been you should go!!!
Brad
Very good!! May have been the best spaghetti & Italian sausage I've ever had!! Everything we had was great!!

Best Italian food in OKC. This Italian restaraunt is wonderful, the best in OKC. Fresh, homemade italian food. Comes out fresh and hot. Salad is great. Bread is great. They give you huge portions. I have always ordered the baked ziti, speghetti or pizza/salads, but never have heard anyone complain about anything on the menu. Sometimes they only have one server but she is always very friendly and always quickly attends to your needs. would rather go here anyday vs large loud restaraunt like olive garden. quiet relaxing atmosphere at bella vista. Bella Vista you are tops in my opinion and hope you never leave OKC so we can all continue to get great fresh REAL italian food.
Em
Wow!!!. What a hidden gem. I drive from Norman just to come here. Homemade pasta and sauce. The only place with better Italian would have to be in Italy. Huge portions.. Friendly owners. Even some Greek items among all the Italian.
OKCPT.com
Probably the best REAL Italian in OKC. Fresh breads, real home-made sauces. This is a small family owned eatery and is the best around. I will no longer eat anywhere else when wanting Italian.
Mario
Finally! Not settling for carinos and zios again!
Jon
The best Italian in OKC hands down. Huge portions. If you're interested in precision choreography with service, this isn't the place for you. But if your interest is great food in a very nice atmosphere, and you don't care if the service isn't up to chain restaurant standards, you don't want to miss this place!

Don't come her with a whimmpy apatie This is the best Italain food I have had in years and will be there many more times
Jacquelynn
Great Italian!. Yummy! I had the Spaghetti Alla Bolognese and my friends had the Shrimp Baci appetizer and Lasagna... it was all very good. We had to wait a bit for our food and my side salad was certainly lacking (don't waste your money on it) but i will definitely recommend and return to Bella Vista!

Amazing Service, Big Food. Our group of 14 just walked in on this restaurant with no advanced warning, and the place was moderately busy, but they handled us with excellent efficiency and friendliness. The comments on the food varied from good to totally yummie, I was impressed with the portion size, the freshness of the food and the more than reasonable prices. Everybody had a doggy bag, and we've got some whales in our group... As to what the other critics say, I don' think the owners are Italian, I think they're Greek.
Travis Nance
Wonderful. This is another of OKC's best-kept secrets. The food is never less than extraordinary and the prices are curiously reasonable considering the quality and portion size. I've been going there on and off for years now and I've never been disappointed in the experience.

I will say this, however: this is not a place to go when you're in a hurry, and if you're hungry *right now,* get an appetizer. Go with people you enjoy talking to, because you're going to have a lot of conversation time between each phase of the meal. The place is set up perfectly for conversation, though, from the beautiful decor to the overall quietness.
4N Foodie
You go to this place for the food and the welcoming atmosphere. Not so much the service! These restauaranteurs make you feel like one of the family as soon as you step foot in that restauarant. Love the food, the staff, and especially the mother in her house shoes :D
OkieOmnivore
Used to go here...but never again. The food used to be very good but the service and wait time always stunk. It's gotten so you can't even tell when the place will be open.

The last two times I was there, I think they had a new cook because the food was burned. I sort of ate around the burned part because it takes so long to get the food anyway and the waitress (the only one, as far as I've ever seen) can be a little intimidating.

I won't be going back anymore. It's just not worth it.

Be sure and check the dates on the reviews.
Barry
This place is great. Huge portions, the sauce is the best. Made fresh daily. Lasagna is so good and I think the pizza is the best in town.

Southside Italian. My wife and I enjoyed a huge and delicious lunch here today, I had the Spaghetti & Meatballs, she the Manicotti, both were very good , and reasonably priced at $6.95 which included salad & a very forgetable plain white bread, the only downside to an other wise great meal.
It was good enough for a return trip for sure, next time I want to try the pizza, nice to have another good place to eat on the S.side of OKC, friendly place & very clean.
Zen
Super Italian!. I usually order pizza whenever I visit Bella Vista. It's one of the best pizzas in town. The sauce is tangy and rich, the crust is always fresh and comes loaded with lots of delicious mozzarella cheese. The pizzas are always cooked to a nice golden brown on top with a good, gooey layer of cheese underneath. You won't be disappointed. I've also ordered the spaghetti with mushroom sauce and it's very good. The sauce is thick and spiced to perfection. You won't walk away hungry from Bella Vista, that's for certain!!
Strofferazo
GREAT Italian food. The best lasagna I've had in a restaurant. 17 layers! The sauce is absolutely incredible and the portions are huge. I have also tried the spaghetti and it is equally delicious. A friend ordered the pasta arabiatta (?) and it was too spicy for her. Service is always VERY slow, so go in there expecting to spend some time, but that is a small price to pay for great food at a very reasonable price. I also happen to like their bread although I don't think it is homemade....
Zach Grooten
Best Italian food in okc. I got the eggplant parmagiana and I was blown away. All three of us who went there had enough food left over to eat another meal and a half, and we ate until we were full. Very rich and amazing. Go there.
Eve Armstrong
We have eaten at Bella Vista often. The italien food is the best in town. The sauces is excellent the portions are huge. Their pizza is fantastic I would give them five stars. Bon Appetit!!
TheKeef
A fine resturaunt.. I have eaten here often, and have yet to have anything less than stellar food.

The service is at their own pace, so never go if you have a short lunch or things to do in hurry.

Other than that, take the time to enjoy what is arguably the best Italian in all of OKC.
Michael L.Embry
Great Italian. Best place I have ever been for Italian food. Hands down one of the best restaurants in OKC
Regivizz
Very good. Was at Bella Vista for the first time last night. Like others have mentioned, the bread served at the beginning of the meal isn't worth eating. We got the dolmadakia as an appetizer, but I wouldn't do so again (Zorba's is better). I'm not sure about the other Greek items on the menu, but I'll likely stick with the Italian food.
Now for the good things...the lasagna and the manicotti were both delicious. The servings were huge, served hot and in a timely manner. The service was great and everyone was extremely friendly.
I'll be back to try the pizza (which had great reviews from the people sitting next to us!) and more of the Italian food.

Incredible. Went with a few co-workers on a Friday, and I went back for lunch on Saturday and bought a meal to go for Saturday night.... I read a few of the reviews before I went and there is one waitress there in the daytime, but she moves fairly quick and covers the whole room. Lunch special was $6.95 for pasta, roll and salad I couldn't believe the size of the portions. I had the Lasagna for lunch on Friday, shared a small pizza with my wife on Saturday and then Linguine and White clam sauce for dinner (a little too much lemon) Saturday night. Even the small pizza is piled high, I took two slices home and was stuffed! Very good itallian, very, very good.

Great Food, Huge Portions. The food here is simply amazing. I've had a little bit of everything, and every single thing has been delicious. Be prepared for leftovers: their portions are gigantic. One pizza will from here feeds me for days! Whatever you do, don't go in hungry unless you plan to get salads or appetizers; service is slow, but absolutely, positively worth the wait.

Southside Gem. Thank you A. Tevington for your review of Bella Vista. It sparked my curiousity enough to give it a try, even though I was a bit put off at first because it felt like walking into a pawn shop. But what a difference inside! It definitely is nothing like a pawn shop once you walk through the door. My wife and I just finished eating dinner there, and it was fantastic. It was most certainly Country Italian Comfort Food. The 17-Layer Lasagna and Chicken alla Parmigiano were both very satisfying and filling, but there is so much more to the food than just large portion sizes. For instance, you can actually taste the different flavors in the cheeses instead of just getting some glop of unidentifiable goo like so many places use. We also had the Meatballs alla Marinara as an appetizer. The flavor of the marinara sauce was very well balanced with a slightly sweet finish, but it had enough of a green flavor from the herbs to keep it from being too sweet. It was fantastic for sopping up with the bread. The menu is extensive, and it was difficult to narrow down our choices for the evening, but with the prices being so reasonable, we could easily afford to go back several times a week and try them all. As a resident on the southside of OKC, it is always great to learn about such a great gem of an eatery on this side of town.

Big Portions for the money! Love this little place.

Wonderful! OKC is full of chain restaraunts, but this place is the real deal. Family run and home cooked taste. We ordered both the Greek and Italian food, both were fantastic. Large portions here, look at the tables around you before you order too much. Prices are reasonable. The location and restaraunt are not picturesque, but if you love good food this is a diamond in the rough. Lots of cars parked outside and everyone inside I talked to loved the place. I was completely excited about the whole experience. We will make the drive from Norman to OKC again, no question about it!

An Italian resteraunt w/some Greek. This is authentic Italian. The place is run by a family. They are very nice. The food is FABULOUS and huge portions. Don't eat here if your in a hurry. Most everything is made from scratch. So worth the wait!

Bella Vista Italian Kitchen, run by Greek couple Milt (back of house) and Dina (front of house) Korkolis, is hands-down, bar-none the best italian restaurant I’ve ever been to, seen, or even been near in Oklahoma. I’ve been going there for years and will never give up trying to get Milt’s marinara recipe from him. My dish that I order almost every time I visit is the chicken parmigiana bolognesa (Dina always gives me a look when I order meat sauce on chicken, but I love it) and I’m pretty sure I’ve never actually finished the dish in the restaurant but I’ve always wanted to never stop eating. The last time I went that dish served me for two more meals later on. Don’t get me wrong. This place is far from a one-trick pony. I’ve had the lasagna, the zita, the chicken Marsala, etc, etc. Everything I’ve had has been wonderful and my dear, dear friend and sometime partner in crime Heather swears by the clams in white sauce (I’m not a big clam person myself). Add to this Milt’

I have been wanting to try Bella Vista for a while due to the good reviews on Urbanspoon. First: if you go, go hungry. Really hungry. The portion sizes are HUGE. We got there around 1845 last Wednesday. We sat down, and it took a couple minutes for us to be noticed and get menus. We started off with an order of garlic cheese bread (pretty good) and a couple meatballs, and bruschetta. Raegan got a salad also. The bread and meatballs were pretty good. For the meal, I ordered chicken marsala, Erin got chicken parm, and Raegan got chicken picata. Each of these was a huge amount of food, each had two good-sized chicken breasts. I had some of each meal (especially given that I had some for lunch the next day, and again the next day). I was just not terribly impressed by any of the entrees. My marsala was heavy with marinara instead of the more subtle, sweetish marsala wine sauce I had expected. The parm chicken was overcooked. The picata was the best of the meals; I’m just not a big fan of l

5801 S. Western Ave. Oklahoma City, OK 73109 405.631.1717 menu One question. WHY have I not heard about this place? Our good friends Joy & Dale took us here today after church, and mercy goodness..thank goodness they did! First off, I must warn you. As we followed the directions to this place and then approached it, I was a little leery. For you see there was neon blue and yellow paint, bars on the windows, and it was not in an end of town I am familiar with. And the decor is different than what you'd expect in one of our American Italian restaurants as well. The decor consists of bright blue walls, fountains, lots of greenery and statues. But don't let that stop you. Seriously. You'll miss out. This is old school classic Italian at it's best. The portions are more than plentiful. The food is divine. Bella Vista is the baby of Dina and Milt Korkolis. Native from Greece, they have brought a blend of Italian and Greek food to Oklahoma City and it is delicious. In fact, they are so Greek,

This one’s a “must try.” In fact, you may want to stop reading right now and make your way to Bella Vista. It’s is a small, humble, family-run, home-cooking Italian restaurant where the food is incredibly fresh. I have not experienced anything else like i
