Review Cocina Marin - Oklahoma City

So, I was heading to El Buen Gusto restaurant to get some papusas but they were closed. I was hungry and I drove all the way from the NW side so I decided to sit and eat here. The menu had so many items I didn’t really know where to look but being that I had my mind set in getting papusas, I decided to get fish tacos, something I know. The food was at best, “good” in my opinion. This could be because I didn’t really expect to eat there. Nonetheless, my waitress was super nice and attentive. My food was hot, I loved the atmosphere. The Mexican culture within the building is a really good touch.

First time coming here. The habanero salsa was really good. I ordered the fajitas and it was very flavorful, moist, and tender. The Pico seemed like it was pickled and was a pleasant surprise. Everything was really good.

This is our go-to Mexican restaurant. The fajitas are outstanding and they have lots of authentic choices. Great service, too.

Where did to the second time to eat here? To review it period guacamole There's amazing period my wife had the beef Fajitas, the meat is amazingly tinder. Nice and smoky coming off the girl. The Mexican rise is very good beans are good. My son had the beef burrito. Top shelf period overall a wonderful experience

The staff/ waiter was great. My hubby enjoyed his chicken and shrimp meal. The pico de Gallo wasn't spicy enough for me. My meal was ok. The chips were thin, but surprisingly strong. The salsa and queso were good

We found Cocina Marin via Google maps. It's a quiet, quaint little restaurant. The person who waited on us was one of two brothers and was very friendly and attentive. I had mixed fajitas and my wife had the shrimp cocktail, both were very good.

Really nice people making some really good Mexican food. I had the taco lunch special. The tacos were crispy with great flavor. I'm not a huge fan of refried beans so I always double rice. I'm really happy I did. I mixed up the rice and everything that fell out of the tacos together for a tasty mash up. The rice is very good. They have really really good tamales too!

The owners are the best & that reflects in how they run their restaurant and make their food!

Great food, service is awesome. Typical family friendly place. Ask for their "hotter" sauce OMWord. Spicy hot but still flavorful not so hot that you no longer can taste your food.

Great service and wonderful food. Only about a 5-10 minute wait overall, and I was given a large portion of chips and queso/salsa while I waited. Their queso is amazing, and while the salsa is pretty spicy, it tasted great. The horchata is pretty good, and the tamale special was really nice and filling.

This has been a favorite place for us for many years. True Tex-Mex, always fresh, family owned and operated. Every time we dine here is delicious. This day we had fajitas, carne asada, grilled tomatoes and all the fixings! Highly Recommend and always great!

A nice inexpensive place for lunch. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The cheese dip and pico are well with the trip. If you're in the area consider making a stop by to check therm out I think you'll enjoy it.

The was great!! Really big portions, and the service was really friendly. I will say the margarita was ok, but not a deal breaker for wanting to go again!

This is a great restaurant for a Mexican experience and authentic food. Prices are reasonable and portions are large.

We went on a Monday night. Our first visit. There were maybe 2 other tables of people. We were greeted and seated with a smile, served with a friendly attitude. So refreshing! The chips, salsa and queso were delicious and never ending. The food was reasonably priced and I highly recommend the beef chimichangas! I have to say that the music was also at a nice volume and not obnoxious! Thank you, Cocina Marin! We will definitely be back.

Worst Mexican food I ever had!. I love Mexican food but after eating at Cocina Marin, I will probably stay away from Mexican food for at least 3 months.
The food was salty, old tasting. The salsa didn't taste fresh. Horrible owners, who even cheated on my final bill.
I will NEVER come back to this dirty smelly restaurant again.
Be aware if you use certificates from RESTAURANT.COM. As soon as you ll get your bill, they will say they do not honor or accept your certificate. Very dirty games that they are playing...

Really? Why the high rating? Salsa FROZEN. Ask for thawed salsa and was ignored. Food had no seasoning and service was lacking. Should have gone to (insert almost any Mexican restaurant here) instead. Live and learn.

Good Fish and Shrimp Soup. Came to Cocina Marin and ate a wonderful fish and shrimp soup that hit the spot when you are feeling under the weather. Ruben Marin and his family do a great job keeping a great spot. The salsa is flavorful and the service is wonderful.

Diamond in the rough. Definitely the spot to get cheap TexMex. The rice is amazing. Not too dry yet not too moist. The lunch combos are very cheap and there are also daily specials. To top it off, the free Chips, Salsa, Queso, and sopopillas are to die for!

My Favorite Mexican Establishment. Yes, sometimes they do have problems with consistency, but that's most places.

For the price they have just really good food. Their carne asada beef is so delicious, tender and flavorful! You can eat sort of healthy there if you know what you're doing. But who cares about healthy at a place like this? The thing you MUST GET is both their beef or chicken chimichanga. They're how they're supposed to made and not covered in that gross red sauce that places like to hide it in. They cover there chimi's with a cheese sauce typicall, and the chicken/beef is very tender and juicy and the outside of the chimi's are nice and crispy. :)

I'm getting very hungry. If you're feeding kids you can pick up their Fajitas for two which are very affordable and go a long way in my opinion. Very affordable too.

BTW, the only thing Teds does better are their tortillas. Outside of that I wish I could have TEDS tortiallias at Cocina Marin lol

Definitely OK. Not wonderful, but decent. Didn't like the chips or ground beef, but the rice had a lot of flavor. I'll at least take my leftovers home, but probably won't go back.

Good, not great.. The food at Cocina Marin was really, really decent. I don't really have any complaints. It wasn't mindblowing, but it was good. That being said, I am a vegetarian, and Cocina Marin does not offer anything for me other than a cheese enchilada. I love tex-mex, but I do NOT love cheese enchiladas. The service was good, but if you live in the area and don't eat meat - head over to La Salsa Grille - they have great service and multiple vegetarian options. We probably won't be returning due to lack of options for me.
Debbie
HORRIBLE! The service was awful, the food was bland, and my margarita was carbonated??? Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

New Favorite. -Awesome Food.. We used to eat Chelinos every weekend, but we had four consecutive terrible meals (at different locations, even) and had to find something new.

Cocina Marin was a spur of the moment choice as I was taking a new route home from work one night. Best choice I've made in a while. Been there four times so far and tried different meals each time. I've not been disappointed.

Service: Average. Only had one weird experience when everyone else in the restaurant was served before we were (even though we arrived about five minutes before anyone else). The tea is good, beer is cold, and staff is friendly.

Food: Salsa = FRESH! Just like Monterey Jack's! Queso = B (Nothing special). Carne Guisada = A++. Chimichanga = A++. Tamales = A. Chili Relleno = A. Enchiladas = B+

Love this place. It's our new favorite Mexican restaurant, and the prices are competitive. Recommend this to anyone who does NOT like Teds, Abuelo's, or Abels. (We hate those three with a fiery habanero fueled passion.)

Good food, friendly waitress (janet!), nice atmosphere. Chips, queso, salsa, and sopapilla complimentary with any entree! Plus it's cheap! $16 for two people.

A nice surprise. I have driven past this restaurant often but never stopped in. I was missing out! After reading the reviews I tried it and was not disappointed. Had the chicken enchilada lunch special and it was HUGE! The chicken was well seasoned, and the rice and beans were delicious. Can't wait to bring back my friends!

Cocina Marin?. Good food, and plenty of it. I had wicked good enchilladas with the Mexican Dinner. Complementary chips, salsa, and queso. Salsa, was a little watery, but tastey just the same.

I went kind of early on a Tuesday evening and was the only person there. The service was obviously prompt, but also friendly and couteous.

I recommend this place for a quick bit of Oklahoma Tex-Mex fare.

Best Mexican in OKC. My wife and I started eating at Cocina Marin back in 97-98 when it opened with half price fajitas. Even after we'd moved to NC, we still stopped by for some chimichangas and taquitos. Top notch service makes it the best place in town.

Keep up the good work Ruben.

Hidden Gem. Great food, competative pricing.

If Ted's could make food this good it would actually be worth the hype it gets. It's definately a tex-mex place (nothing terribly authentic) but it's well done tex-mex.

I highly recommend the chile rellano, fajita nachos, chimichanga, guidasa...Actually, everything is good!

Great food. You can actually request how spicy (hot) you want your food. Make sure you order your beer "PREPARED". That's with lime and salt. Ruben Marin, the owner, awesome person and he does provide best service around.
