Review Johnny Carino's Italian - Oklahoma City

Great specials tonight. Fresh bread, Italian nachos, salad, ribeye steak, and lasagna for 15.99. The meal was really good. I took some pics. Service was outstanding.

First time ever at a Johnny Carino’s. Food was delicious. And the manager on Friday night was awesome. I only saw one server and bartender. Both were doing amazing taking care of the guest. My guess, slightly understaffed. We will be back.

Always enjoy dining here. All the food has a good flavor with a country home feel. First time trying their Italian nacho they were fantastic with perfectly crisp chips, and they did not lack on the sauce over the top of them either like most places. Bow tie festival large portion with the creamy bacon flavor always a top pick for me here. Try their timballo skillet, which is awesome as well.

Johnny Carino's had an amazing special that included...RIBEYE STEAK! The steak was so tender, that I could cut it with a butter knife. The steak had a garlic butter on top that further enhanced the deliciousness of the meat. Because I signed up for the email club, I received a welcome gift which was a single topping pizza. WIN! Everything was delightful. The managers and servers were incredibly friendly and the food was tasty. I'll be back!

The lobby was clean as were the restrooms. The host staff was warm and friendly! Called ahead to let them know a 11 person table was on the way. The cost was reasonable and the food was piping hot. I had salad and soup combo the potato soup and Caesar salad was definitely delicious - it hit the spot....Its in a pretty good location and I will return when in the need of hunger. Thank you team & Jazz for being patient as our family of 11 ordered from the menu and took our time before deciding and for getting the kids plate out first.. the bread and olive oil- so TASTY!!! The appetizer of fire sticks and cheese sticks went over well! Everyone else complimented the food choices they made! I talked with the manager after the meal and shared positive comments about our server. She did amazing! Team should be commended! Respectfully, Bryan Yukon, Oklahoma

Great atmosphere . Friendly and helpful staff . Food was excellent great quality and quantity . Below is the chicken bowtie pasta meal and the spaghetti feast .

The mozzarella sticks were pretty awesome. Our waitress was super amazing and friendly! All the employees were great and I'm sure the food was presented to the corporate standards I just think the chicken Parm recipe and sauce is pretty close to TV dinner status. The fettuccine Alfredo was really good, it had a nice thick and creamy consistency and enjoyed it more than my own meal. Lol

We came here to celebrate someone's birthday, the waiter was rude so I called and spoke to manager regarding our experience because we left and ate at another restaurant. The manager listened to my complaint and apologized and provided meal coupons for us, we returned and they redeemed themselves. The waiter was very courteous and prompt when we ordered our food and when we requested anything. We had a great experience, the food was delicious, had lasagna. Rib eye steak was tender and the Italian nachos was delicious, they provided grilled chicken and sausage for the nachos . We will definitely be coming back !

Great Service. Expensive menu but had affordable specials. Steak was a little overcooked but still tender and juicy.

Johnny Carino’s is my favorite Italian spot! The Spicy Shrimp and Chicken is my go-to entree, and the salad and bread is always super fresh! It seems that management here has struggled to keep staff, so seating and service can sometimes be a bit slow (we’ve been waited on by the chefs on more than one occasion when understaffed). However, the staff has always been friendly, and I highly recommend stopping here for a meal!

I wasn't there long but the experience made me want to go back. Great food and service!

This place has gone downhill over the past three years it used to be one of my favorite places. My waitress was so overwhelmed she brought the wrong order it took me 20 minutes to even get water and bread. I don’t wanna say bad service because she was doing the best she absolutely could they are hiring terribly bad please send your children to go help them out it was only two people waiting on tables Thursday night and I believe one of them also was working the drive-through. Just like anywhere else food prices have gone up. My cheesecake was delicious.
Buddy Bales
Mushroom appetizer was phenomenal. Salads were good. The main dishes were awesome. Soda refills were a little lacking. An excellent experience being my first time here.

Randy was a great server! The food was fantastic! We had a calamari appetizer, cheese tortellini, bowtie carine festival, and lemon cake. We took the cake to go. Everything was wonderful! I would recommend them to everyone!

We chose Johnny Carino's for a family birthday celebration. We were a party of seven. The food was very good, but our server was forgetful. We eventually were left totally unattended. Perhaps that server was new, unexperiened, and learning? Finally, another server stepped up. She was exceptional. So, ultimately, our family birthday celebration was salvaged.

It was one of the best experiences that my daughter and I have ever had at a restaurant. Hannah, our server, was one of the best servers I have ever had anywhere and the food was delicious!
Glenda Stover Heath
My husband and I decided to give this place a try. Had great service food was hot and very good aside from the potato soup was just warm, but still tasted good. But everything else was great, refilled our drinks brought extra bread. I will eat there again. Next time will try the 16 layer lasagna. One other negative was, we were seated at a table that is rocky, simple fix....adjust the foot of the table.
Angela Bonanno
Excellent waitress handled all 7 of us very well! The food was absolutely perfect! Highly recommend!
Leah Pourdavood
The restaurant is clean, they have excellent staff and the food is always delicious. I appreciate the manager's politeness, thoughtfulness and inquiry about meals. I've not ever had a bad experience there!
Michelle Monts
The food was good but my server, Raegan, was excellent! She serviced us which is what customer service is all about!
Diane Harper
Food is always delicious. Our waitress was very friendly. She just let us take our time talking and didn’t bother us. If we could have given her a $100 tip we sure would have.

We had a nice dinner last night, the food wasn’t the best and the service was ok. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve eaten at Carino’s, so we may have just expected so much better. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was nice. We will go back, just maybe try something different next time.
Heather Kegin
We had great service, I do believe the young lady was named Reagan, the food was good and the price was great. Will come back again...
Lisa Monts-Griffin
Raegan has been my server on several occasions...wonderful server!!! Super sweet young lady

Great food and service!!! We have eaten there for years.
Michael Teer
Awesome food and excellent service, well worth the two hour drive to eat there.
Calvin Monroe Brown
They are very well staffed and the menu is diverse with tasty meal choices which are exquisitely prepared
Steve Anneler
We had really good service, but the food was mediocre. I had the Johny Carino's Combo. The pasta was dry as was the Lasagna .
Regina Sheppard
We are from Norman use to go there until they closed everything was great portions were more than enough we both took to go boxes and we loved the Italian margaritas excellent experience we will return
Amber Fifield
Our server was exceptionally good and so was our food!

Hot the air conditioning wasn't working ,as we sat it got hotter and hotter had to leave with our food ,too hot to eat there and found out the a/c hadn't worked for two weeks wow wtg Johnny carino I won't be back .should've told us that it was hotter than Hades in there when we got there instead of letting us order and then having the heat go completely out and sitting there sweating
Malissavalenzuela
They are closed. We tried to eat there and they are closed. Not sure if this is a permanent closure or temporary.

Better than Olive Garden, a little pricey. As far as pasta and Italian-style cuisine, Johnny Carino's was not bad (I would say a 7/10). The flavors were there, the food dishes were large, and the service was great. The only thing was that it was pricey and one can easily rack up a large bill. Other than that, my husband and I did determine that we would indeed come back in maybe a month or two to try them out since we had a good experience with them. Much better than Olive Garden, that's for sure!

I LOVE JOHNNY CARINO'S!!!!. Johnny carino's is great!!! their food is amazing!!! try the bowtie festival!!! yummy!!!!

The Quail Springs Carino's is by far our favorite Carino's. Heather works in the bar area and is a superb server. We now live near Yukon and do not visit as often as we did before moving as it is now an almost 30 minute drive to get there. We visit as often as we can, though.

Not a good lunch day. We went back as we have had good food there in the past. Lunch for me today was not good. Just a heads up on ordering Eggplant parmesan. My hubby had a skillet lunch which he said was wonderful. I got my eggplant dish and when I cut into it there was no eggplant in it. it was deep fried crust . I called the waitress over and she was very nice and called the manager over. He looked at me and said I will get you another one. I said it was ok as I just wasn't hungry anymore as I had eaten half of it trying to find the eggplant. The waitress came over later and told her higher up manager what had happened. They took my lunch off the bill, which is what have been done in the first place. We just had to laugh after it was all over. We will go back as the waitress was so nice and she just didn't think the first manager did the right thing. Wish there were more staff like her. She saved the day and we left happy.

It's okay. Have had the spicy chicken pasta, that was good. Last time I went I had the Chicken stuffed ravioli. The chicken inside was not good. It looked and tasted like blended canned chicken.

Service. Food is good. One problem: they always want to seat you at the worst table whether crowded or not. They get angry when you ask to move. Even had the general manager argue with me on a Sunday evening when there was no crowd.

This makes for an unpleasant experience.

Aweful. It could just be that I watch too much food network, and that I come from a family that worked in the food industry, I was completely disappointed by the food and service.

The wait service was horrible. The waitresses stood around the soda machine drinking the entire time. Some drank out of closed containers, and others just sipped away on open cups, leaving the possibility to spill their drinks. Then I asked to get 2 plates for me and my husband.... they never came.

Now to the food. I ordered the bruschetta and I was served toasted bread that came from a regular loaf of bread, and the tomatoes were soft and not fresh at all. My entrée came with a salad, and for some reason the Cesar salad tasted like frozen fish. My entrée was pot roast, and it had way too much red wine, and it hadn't reduced, so the sauce was runny. My husband ordered one of the house favorites the Crawfish Pasta. The pasta was overcooked, and the sauce was very heavy.

This is a place that I will never go to eat again. This was a very disgusting experience.
Caitlin Hicks
My favorite Italian food!. I love johnny carinos the bread is always hot and soft, the salad is so fresh and i always order the chicken balsamico its no longer on the menu but they still always make it for me! i always enjoy coming here.

Consistently Good Italian Food. The family ate dinner here this evening; it's one of Erins favorites. We had a number of things: Raegan and I had chicken marsala, Ian had chicken parm, and Erin had fettuccine alfredo. Ian in particular was happy that he was able to get the correct meal; he likes to have fettuccine as his pasta instead of spaghetti. I thought the marsala was a little bland this time.

Carino's does a pretty good job, if a little expensive. Our check was around $68. The tea was very good and the service was very attentive and friendly. We will keep going back, just not often.
Brandon Marshall
Food was great! We enjoyed the bread and oil (ask for balsamic) the soup and salad are unlimited and very good. The service left a bit to be desired but overall a good experience with decent prices and good food!

Bad Service and food was cold. We waited almost 20 mins after being seated to be greeted by our waitress and that was after we went and told the hostess. Meal arrived in about 10 mins after ordering. The food was warm on the outside but cold on the insude. Only ate about 1/3 of my meal before deciding it wasn't worth it. The manager was very apologetic and even took $20 off our meal, but I really doubt we'll back in a while. This was on Sunday eve about 8:00 pm.

Great food. Nice atmosphere.

I hope this isn't a permanent closure!

I've gone here for years. Great pizza. I can't imagine this place closing.

-----21 Mar, 2012-----

Good food.

Decently priced for a sit down restaurant.

Generally good service. A bit noisy at times, but fine.

Their pizza is delicious.

Catering for out of town dinners. We have eaten in the restaurant several times and the food and service has been great, but you should also try their catering. We live about an hour from OKC and have used their catering service several times for birthdays, holidays, etc. Everyone loves it! The cost for about 8 adults and 4 children is ~$100.00 (excuding dessert) and it is well worth it. (Buying groceries for a special dinner would probably be almost as much, and we don't have to do the work so we can enjoy the event!). We get a big pan of spaghetti for the kids, a chicken pasta and a fish pasta for the grownups, as well as salad and breadsticks. You call in your order, tell them when you will arrive, describe the car you will be driving, and as soon as you drive up they run the order out to your car. the food is so well packaged that it is still very warm by the time we get home. I am phoning in our order this morning for a dinner tonight. 'Can't beat it!

Enjoyed a family dinner. I went with my family and we enjoyed a pleasant meal, I loved my pepperoni macaroni that I ordered with a side order of soup. I will warn that if your child doesn't really like sourdough style bread to not order the pizza, because that was the only item we got that wasn't the best. Server was excellent and on point at every minute we were dinning.
Copacetic Life
The waitress who served us was awful. We were seated for 15 minutes before she came to get our drink order, another 15 minutes before we got any drinks, and a full hour before we got our poor tasting food. Less than five minutes after our food was delivered, she brought our check and didn't even ask if the food was ok. We had a poor experience all around, and will definitely not be returning.
Diane
Worse than Olive Garden!. Talk about bland and boring! They use the same red sauce on everthing! Had been hyped up so much by friends and co-workers but totally let down. Will not be returning
Missy
Yummy. I always get the homemade lasagne & a peach Belini. It is always good, and I never feel let down.

Yummy! Prefer it over Olive Garden.. It's not authentic Italian, but the fare is certainly delightful. I've never had a dish there I haven't loved and leftovers never go to waste because they reheat pretty well. They make your food to order, meaning if you don't like something in the dish, they can change it for you easily. Family sized platters can feed about 4 people with modest appetites, which is a steal for around $25. A regular entree can easily be split between two people. They have these wonderful mini sized desserts for $2 too! I'm a big fan of the Italian Chocolate Cake. The host staff is okay at best, but the waitstaff and management are usually pretty stellar! Managers can usually be seen making sweeps through the dining room during busy hours, filling glasses, chatting with customers, running food, etc. I love it when they don't hide in the back!

Not too bad, but had better.. Went for dinner and had the stuffed mushrooms for a starter. Those were really good! The fresh bread and salad were really good as well, but the main dish I had was the Shrimp Scampi and it was very disappointing. It lacked very much flavor at all. Had to put salt and lots of cheese for it to be edible. The steamed shrimp in it were good, as were the mushrooms, but that's where it stops.
Might try it again and have something else, but we'll see.

One of the best Italian joints in OKC. The eggs Benedict is incredible. Service can be spotty but the atmosphere and food are spot on.
Justmattsmom
Good but not. Good food, but the wait staff is awful. been there like 6 times and the service is always terrible!

A Step Up from Usual Okc Italian. We frequent this Johnnie Carinos often due to the service and well-prepared Italian food that is far more than the usual goopy fare found at places like the Olive Garden. This is substantial, bold food that is easy to imagine is based on what hard-working country people in Italy might eat. Spices aren't out of control; but, significant. This is the only Italian restaurant that we have located that makes their caesar dressing using a slight amount of anchovy, which was included in the original caesar dressing recipes and is still in recipes that aren't trying to compete with the ubiquitous ranch dressing. This takes nerve in a city where most dressings have sickeningly noticeable levels of sugar and corn syrup. The appetizers, especially the Italian nachos, are all so good that sometimes we will just order several of those and share them. The lasagna has a flavorful sausage and a bold, smokey tomato sauce that is a delight. My only complaint is that the main room is so noisy from big parties and especially from the nearby open kitchen that two people can hardly visit quietly over a meal. If it's a date, ask for one of the little side nooks.
Emmy
Italian nachos. It's my fave thing there

I've had good, I've had bad. I really like the good!. I love Carino's lasagna. I'm not a huge lasagna fan but theirs is quite good. I love, love the fried garlic with olive oil and "balsamic" vinegar to dip the nice, crusty(ish) bread into. Bread isn't as nice as true Italian loaves and the balsamic isn't the real stuff. But then, where you gonna find either in OKC? Not at any restaurant.

Anyway, they have a wine list. It might be good but I never order wine at a restaurant, so someone else will have to comment. Last time I was there they had Sam Adams on tap, so I was happy.

The bad? Well, spaghetti is just filler, the pot roast kinda dinner was chewy I'd call it. Coulda been an off night for it. Service is up and down, typical of any chain restaurant. That's about it. Most everything else is good.
Bill
Lasagne. I don't like cooked tomato, so I have never been a fan of italian cooking. And don't get me started on what pizza reminds me of! But I do like lasagne and am willing to put up with the cooked tomato. Until I happened to mention to Diana, our server one night, that I liked alfredo sause. She said she could have the lasagne made and have alfredo instead of the red sauce on it. It would have some tomato sauce, but not much. I said I'd like to try it. It was great!

I still don't care for tomato sauce but I can really enjoy the alfredo on the lasgne. And Diana is excellent in her serving. She remembers what I like, but checks with me before ordering.

I wish all restaurants had their Disabled Parking like Carino's. As you can see in the pics, all of the spots are right up front. The ramps gently ease up to the sidewalk and to the doors.

We had dinner here last night at Erin’s suggestion. We got there about 1830 and were immediately seated. Ian got fettuccine al fredo, I got chicken fettuccine al fredo and a caesar salad, Erin got chicken parmesan, and Raegan got chicken marsala and a caesar salad. To keep the story short, all excellent. Raegan and Erin ended up bring half of theirs home (I just ate Erin’s takeaway for lunch, yum!). The bread was wonderful, the iced tea excellent. The only slight downer was that it took about half the meal before our requested balsamic vinegar was obtained (I say this deliberately, I asked the patrons at a nearby table for theirs as they were waiting for their check). Our check was $60.45. Great food and decent value.
