The Buck Snort Oakland

This place is a hidden gem! We were visiting Botna Bend Park in Hancock, Iowa and were looking for a place to eat in Neola, Iowa; we found "The Buck Snort". The inside was very casual and inviting, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our kids ordered various things from the menu, but I had to go with the "Swamp Donkey". Very tasty! I would recommend this place to anyone. One of the best burgers I have had in quite sometime. In fact, IMHO, it was better than Stella's over in Bellevue, Neb.

We stopped in here last night. It took 45 minutes for us to get our food. Every meal was cold. The hamburgers were over cooked. My daughters mac and cheese was so cold she didn't even want to eat it. Waiting that long is fine if the food was hot. We haven't had great luck the last few times we've been in here.

I stopped in to get breakfast. I ordered some pancakes. To my surprise they were very large and only a dollar each. Unfortunately they tasted very much like a dollar. All of the Bucks i have stoped at in the past have had extremely good food. The only reason i gave this Bucks 4 stars was because of the great service. Above and Beyond.

I don’t even know where to begin in terms of poor customer service and the negative experience we had a Buck Snort in Oakland this evening. We walked in, ordered our food and proceeded to sit outside on the patio at the picnic tables with my husband and three grandsons. There was another couple with their two dogs sitting by the door to enter the patio. The dogs started barking uncontrollably at us and the owner allowed it to proceed and the one dog bit me and tore a hole in my jeans and bruised my leg. I kept the grandkids on the other side of me and I told her to get control of her animals. It happened so fast and her response was oh I didn’t know. I went into the restaurant to tell The waitress that the couples dog bit me and her responses to me was they are here every week, what do you want me to do about it, call the cops. I said no but I thought it was important for you to know since this is a liability to Buck Snort. She responded with, do you want me to call the owners and I said yes that wouldn’t be a bad idea. About five minutes later she came out and spoke loudly I called the owner and he is on his way. The couple with the dogs promptly got up and left and the owner never showed up. We came in to have a relaxing dinner and that was our outcome. There are so many things wrong here from animals being allowed in a restaurant to the waitress poorly representing Buck Snort, the owner and herself.
