Food came out fast!! Enchiladas verdes was delicious and my BF tried the Mulas...both were fresh and tasty. The rice was a bit dry but tasted good. Not lots of dine in business...possibly lots of delivery and to go orders.

The owner is so nice! She greets every customer warmly and makes you feel like you're having a meal in her home. And that salsa – so delicious!

First and foremost I am obligated to mention that this place has, hands down, the best corn tortillas I've ever had. They're fresh and amazing and if you haven't had fresh tortillas you MUST try this place. Next I want to say that their salsa, albeit spicy, is so delicious. They have green salsa too if you ask. It isn't the cheapest in the world but certainly on par with other high quality Mexican plate restaurants. You can come here for a cheap burrito to go if you want but the real experience is dining in. The food is big and hot and most of it comes with their heavenly tortillas. I strongly recommend this place for groups because it's always super empty. This part of lake Merritt is sadly not doing so well so take advantage of that and bring a bunch of friends here. There are always large tables available with short notice. Great for parties and large groups. It is also a good date spot because it's low lit and kind of intimate and the food is top notch. They offer various drinks and I believe sometimes bottomless margaritas. The drinks I've had were good and cheap for their size. This is also a good place to take kids because they have a kids menu. In general I really love the food here, it's so fantastic and as more white-serving mediocre Mexican restaurants like El Papalote and others get more popular, it gets harder and harder to find REALLY EXCEPTIONAL Mexican food. As a foodie, this stuff is fantastic. I very strongly recommend the Birria because it is fantastic succulent meat that makes the mouth water. This will get you a real experience that you can only get at a place like this.
