Best Banh mi ever. The line was so long but the service was fast. $5.50 per sandwich. Other food was good too. There is a parking lot behind the building in case you cannot find parking. They do have an updated hours. I don't think it opens on Sunday. I should take a picture for that.
Was told this was THE place for banh mi and they were basically only open on weekdays. Made the drive at 8am on Sunday to beat any possible rush. It was hella empty though so idk...
The sandwiches were good but nothing too special... The cashier was pretty rude too but eh that's the no frills viet vibe that reminds me of when I was back in Nam LOL

I'm one of those people that would only buy books when I'm at the airport or order the newest "top seller" based on someone's recommendation. But, I always ended up only reading a few chapters and it gets left for months and even years before I pick it up again! Never got into reading on the Kindle or IPad.
Bahn Mi Ba Le (Oakland) is a small outfit. Don't judge a book by its cover. They make one thing and they make it well. I love meatballs and I feel they make one of the best Vietnamese meatball sandwich.Only at $4 dollars!!! Grab a smooth Vietnamese coffee and some crunchy egg rolls to complete the meal!
Best Vietnamese sandwiches in town! Their Thai iced tea is my favorite of any place I've ever had. They work very quickly too. Not to say you won't spend like an hour if you go on a weekend at lunch time but that's because they are that good. I have yet to have something that I really dislike from here. Give it a try if you haven't, you won't be disappointed.
I ordered 5 sandwiches from there because I've heard great things about this Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered #2 (special ham combo), #5 (meatball sandwich), #8 (grilled pork sandwich), #13 (meatballs and egg sandwich), #9 (BBQ chicken sandwich).
Initially I wanted #18 (grilled chicken sandwich) but they didn't have it at the time so they suggested #9. The sandwiches were great but the #8 was a bit dry, they needed to add a bit more sauce. Can't beat the prices though!
Excellent banh mi and Viet coffee. Narrow straw, perfect, this is not a drink you want to guzzle; so greatly enjoyed, you want it to last.
DELICIOUS, first time trying because my uncle recommended this place to me. I am sad I've only discovered it today but for the price of $5.50, this was an authentic experience. Bread was crispy, sandwich was utterly delectable. Will be coming here from now on.
