Subway

I'm on the Embarcadero in Oakland, I was told by the employee working at Subway that they don't serve the men and women who served our country. I don't think she said it in those words, but I couldn't exactly understand what she was saying. It took me several times to understand what she was getting at. I guess my ears didn't believe me. I asked her to please serve me and, "ma'am please don't do this to me right now" and " please don't do this." She even started making my sandwich, but paused. She refused service to me and told me to ask the customer in line behind me "why?." She said I wasn't, " hearing everything she said to me." I did have to say "what, I'm sorry" several times. The employee immigrated here from another country and I advised her that the reason she could refuse me service is because she can enjoy the freedoms that I fought for, was injured for, and my friends died for. I'm all in favor for people coming to our country and enjoying the freedoms that we have been able to live by since the establishment of our Republic, and I absolutely welcome anyone to do that, but I'm very put off by ANYONE who acts like this. In the end she did try to make it seem like that she was refusing me service because I couldn't hear her questions about my sandwich? , which I don't quite understand myself, and "ask the customer behind you what I said to you," who had no idea what was going on. I did ask her "what if I'm deaf," and "what if I'm deaf in one ear or completely deaf?" She seemed to change the subject matter as I was about to walk out the door. I did raise my voice a little in the end, but ultimately I left and there was no incident. I apologized to the customer behind me who she tried to involve in the incident. She seemed to respond with, "that's okay honey," but I was too upset at that point to acknowledge much.

I may have come on a bad day but they were out of cookies and the fountain soda machine wasn't working. I bought a sandwich and asked if I could buy a Flatbread, just the bread. I was told I would have to buy an entire other sandwich. When I paid for my food I was told they had no paper in the store to print a receipt.
