Have only been here twice. Both times sat on the patio which is really nice and dog friendly. Service has always been friendly, just the way one might imagine a neighborhood hangout to be. The first time I only had the intermezzo salad. Nice and hearty combo. The 2nd time a group of friends stopped for drinks only, which is where I suspect they really shine. I had the Jalapeno Business, which was absolutely wonderful. My friends got various other ones and enjoyed them. Will return and recommend as a very solid neighborhood addition.

We had a great time. The food was great, the drink choices were amicable. But the staff treated us like family. We had a great time, met some fun people, played games and had an enjoyable evening at The Golden Squirrel. So much that we came back the following night to do it again!

The slightly subterranean vibe of The Golden Squirrel gives the place a cool that feels good on a warm Oakland day. The food is commendable and plentiful. A good selection of beer—both bottled and on tap—adds to the positives of the place.

This place and the staff are awesome! The food was very tasty. I had the grilled salmon and fiance had the fish & chips. Both dishes were tasty, and the squirrel fries are really unique, but tasty. Really check this place out!

The service and food were great. I had the burger and it was perfectly cooked and juicy, fries taste homemade: yummy! Don't forget to try the fried pickles! Whenever I am in the area I now have a new favorite place to stop for a drink and a bite!

Old spot , new restaurant. The place looks nice inside, sure with time there will be more personality in it . Food was good , we all had different things but all of them were small portions, but good ! We just missed beer and wine!!!! Good service.

Stopped by today for lunch with a buddy. Will miss Barclays, but the Squirrel is clearly focused on their food. Great wings, and a delicious fried chicken sandwich. Classy feel, good TVs, wide open patio space. When they get their liquor license worked out, I'll give it six stars! Support the Squirrel in the meantime!

Really fantastic! Baby/stroller/high chair friendly. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and it was one of the best I've had. My husband said the same about his corned beef hash! And did I mention the "build your own Bloody Mary?" Yes please!
