Casa Del Sol

We had quite a good time at Casa del Sol on our recent trip to Nyack. The service was impeccable (thanks Chanel!) the margaritas were strong and decent. The fried spinach as a side dish was something I hadn't had before and was surprisingly delcious, if a little oily. I had the "naked burrito" aka a burrito bowl with pork and it was a total show stopper - out of this world. We had asked for the guacamole extra spicy and we were not disappointed - - fresh, delcious and spicy! We will definetly be back and if you want Mexican in Nyack, I hope you stop in too.

We really liked Casa del Sol - not perfect but good enough for 5 stars. The chorizo-bacon meatball appetizer was very good, especially the tasty crispy spinach. Little too much sauce though so the meat couldn't shine. I had the skirt steak and short rib taco platter with fried plantains and Mexican street corn. All were very good - fresh tacos! - though the base corn must have been sitting and not cooked to order. We'd recommend.

Go to Mexican place in Nyack. Taco Tuesdays are the best... $3 tacos, music, etc.. Just a great environment. Also, the owner seems very involved with the business, walking around talking to people, making sure everything is being done properly. The staff is very friendly so that is a good sign of great ownership.

Unfortunately I am giving this place one star. Not due to the food, as the staff didn’t provide us the opportunity to try it but due to the rudeness of the host. After about 5 minutes of waiting for someone to seat us at an available table outside, he strolled past us without a glance in our direction and angrily informed us they were not sitting anyone at the moment. They needed time to catch up. When I tried to ask him a question, he simply ignored me and kept walking as though I didn’t exist. I understand times are tough for most businesses but it’s all about the delivery of the message. A simple, give us a few minutes or please have a seat at the bar and enjoy a drink while we catch up would have kept us there. A place open for business even with limited staffing is better than “closed for business” due to no one coming in for your lack of customer service. Disappointing experience.

Laura the bar tender is REALLY mean. Last time I was here, she was very rude, short, never smiled and actually rolling her eyes when I spoke. I was confused as I was dining alone just on my phone. Today, I came in with my friend and she barks at my date and I when I walk in, we are not serving food. It was 815pm by the way. I asked if we could have one drink (hours say 9pm), she rolled her eyes and said "fine". Needless to say, we left to prohibition river next door. I've dined there a lot. That's why I'm giving 2 stars. The food is quite good. But I don't generally leave reviews like thus but this happened TWICE for no reason. Oh...by the way, I live right down the street. They lost a potential local. Worst bar tender in 3 years easily and I'll never go back.

this wasn't our first time here but may unfortunately be the last we get it, bartenders get busy, in the weeds even, but a BT HAS to look at their guests, HAS to acknowledge their guests and when guests patiently WAIT and WAIT, and have to flag a BT for service, it's not cool to say "what's up?" it's not our problem that you're without help, and it's not OK to be treated poorly. wasn't even asked if we wanted entree, so we left the previous guests empty glasses were also left in front of us, as was the nasty a** rag used to clean the bar. terrible CS experience the queso dip is yummy tho
