I have never been disappointed in the food or service at the Hudson House. The space, the former Nyack village hall, and a firehouse is beautiful - based on the French Bistro style, with a huge mural of the Hudson River with the old (original) Tappan Zee Bridge spanning shore to shore. The service is casual/friendly without being lax or unprofessional.
The menu is varied. Not French. Not "American" - whatever that is. Always something interesting either on the menu or in the specials. The steak au Poivre, which is on the menu, is one of the best in the area.
Nice selection of wines by the glass. Also a great selection of cheeses. The owner, Matt Hudson, is the pastry chef and his desserts are uniformly fabulous.
Full disclosure: I have known the Hudson family for nearly 40 years. Yet If I didn't feel this strongly about the Hudson House I just wouldn't write a "review." But I do feel strongly about this place - it is one of our *occasion restaurants* - reserved for special celebrations and just because we want to treat our selves to a nice meal. I also like to sit at the bar for Happy Hour and have the oysters that are specially priced between 5 and 7 PM. Yum.
Went for Thanksgiving. Had limited but delicious menu. If I remember correctly our waiter was Anthony. Everything was superb. Would like to go again to experience regular menu!!

While enjoying a quick getaway, my boyfriend and I made reservations for dinner at Hudson House. Upon arriving, we were warmly greeted by one of the owners of the establishment named Matt (who also happens to make the delectable desserts here). We immediately felt welcome, and at ease by the laid back elegance and warmth of the place.
The Cuisine and cocktails at this establishment were excellent. This is one of the best meals we have had recently in our travels. The service was friendly, and attentive. We had a meal that was soup to nuts, and every bite of it was fantastic. This place is priced on the higher side, but very much reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you receive. We both had beef for our entree—I had the hanger steak, while my
Boyfriend had the Wagu beef. The hanger steak was the better entree (both were delicious, but the hanger steak was more tender). The desserts are to die for—the Crack Pie is an absolute MUST!! We left this place feeling completely content, in both our bellies and our mindset. It was an absolute pleasure to have dined here, we will most certainly be returning to Hudson House on a regular basis.
I could not recommend the Hudson House more, especially for special occasions or date nights. First off, the service was amazing and incredibly attentive at all times. The food was presented beautifully and tasted amazing as well. Everything tasted fresh with each dish being crafted to really bring out the flavors.
It's always a great pleasure to dine at Hudson House. Even during the COVID shutdown, taking food out was a treat. Now back to dining in makes it so much better. Good to see patrons are back.

Had a fantastic dining experience at Hudson House this past weekend. The wait staff, service staff, and owner went above and beyond expectations. The grilled octopus was cooked to perfection and the entrees and desert were excellently prepared and tasted fantastic. Overall a phenomenal experience made even better by the exceptional quality of service we received. The owner Matt Hudson even took time to explain some of his hand-carved art which was a delight. Would highly recommend Hudson House to anyone.
Wife and I decided to have a nice dinner in Nyack and kept hearing about how awesome the Hudson House is so we went to fill our bellies. Let me start by saying that Mr. Matthew Hudson (owner) was such an outstanding man. Nothing makes someone feel more welcomed than an owner introducing themselves and giving you a little history on the place. Our waitress, Meagan was also very attentive and awesome! We had the cheese plate for appetizer which was great, followed by our entrees which was the pasta and tiger shrimp and the braised short rib. I could’ve probably had 2 plates because it was soooo good! My wifes’ dish was also delicious and I know because I’m greedy and had more than just a taste of hers, BUT it’s all good because we had space for dessert, which was made by Mr. Matthew Hudson himself. It had to be the best dessert we’ve had in Rockland thus far. I can’t remember the name of the desserts but they were so amazing as well. The staff are wonderful and it’s a reflection of the owner and how well Mr. Hudson runs his restaurant. Kudos! Thanks for a great dinner and wonderful evening. We will definitely be back.
Had a very nice romantic dinner, the ambiance was great with amazing food and drinks. The photographs displayed around the restaurant are very captivating. I love and appreciate when a restaurant owner engages in conversation and is actually interested in your feedback. Our server, Jose, was amazing. The desserts are a delicious must have. I absolutely can't wait to dine here again. It is so worth it!
Nyack's shining star for truly high end cuisine. The atmosphere is stunning. It has a great bar with a drink menu that is amazing. Professional staff, White table cloth service and the menu as well a their home made desserts are bliss to you palette! I highly recommend.
I was in the area with 2 friends and decided to have dinner at the Hudson House in Nyack. It turned out to be the best culinary decision!!
The place is elegantly furnished without being stuffy, good volume level, the staff is very friendly and accommodating; as is the amazing food.
The menu offers something for every taste. We had breast of duck and the Gnocchi. We were extremely delighted how exquisite and delicious the duck was; simply the best we’ve ever had and that’s no exaggeration. Also the ethereal Gnocchi!!
The desserts, made by the very friendly and hospitable owner and pastry chef Matt Hudson, were truly exceptional.
To sum it up, it was a truly great dining experience.
A very special thanks to our wonderful server, Naomi and the chef-owner Matt. They accommodated all our dietary-allergy needs. Definitely an excellent place to visit and enjoy a great culinary evening.
