Ghenet

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food. I ordered an appetizer and then the Chicken stew with Collard Greens and mushroom vegetarian dishes. The flavors were wonderful and the service was excellent. The waiter went over the menu with me and directed me on how the dishes are prepared; and how to eat without silverware. The owner came by and introduced herself. She was very sweet. I watched her go around to all the tables. It was a great experience. I will be back with friends BYOB in case you want alcohol.. - GS

We were so excited to see that there was an Ethiopian restaurant in our neighborhood, and Ghenet did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious, the flavors full and well-rounded. The service was good, and the owner very cordial. This is a great place to eat with a wonderful atmosphere. Don't worry if it looks a little empty. It's new to the neighborhood, and just catching on. Give it a chance. The food is absolutely worth it.

Highly recommend! Excellent service and great food also. Meat dishes are very tasty. There is a great selection of vegetarian dishes as well. The coffee is amazing. Ask for the coffee ritual with the insense and all. The coconut sponge cake served warm with vanilla ice cream very good. Nice ambiance good vibe. The wine is from a Jersey vineyard and is very good as well.

I'm so happy there is an Ethiopian restaurant in the neighborhood! It's also some of the best Ethiopian food I've had (tried several across the US, Europe). The dishes were perfectly spiced, not heavy. The restaurant itself was modern and clean. The staff was very friendly. Overall great experience. Will be returning to this place a LOT.

So happy to see a new food option in the neighborhood. And Ethiopian is one of my favorites! The place is beautiful on the inside and the food is good. I always get the vegetarian combo whenever I get Ethiopian food and this one did not dissappoint. I’ve been to many Ethiopian restaurants in NY, NJ, DC, CA and Colorado. And this one right here in North Bergen can hold its own! Service was friendly, and the food did not disappoint. . If you have not tried Ethiopian food, you should and now we have an option right here in NB!

Great restaurant. My kids can not get enough of this place, we've eaten here about four times since they opened. Lovely lady comes by and asks if everyone is enjoying their food; she's very accommodating if you have questions about the food. Food offerings are nice and savory however I've had the same dish a few different times and consistency seems to be an issue as one time it was just overloaded with fresh lemon.

What a remarkable experience, our waiter explained dishes we didn’t understand, even recommended a dish of variation for the both for us to be able to try from each other’s choosings. Walking into this Ethiopian place was a revelation of how diverse our world is, but yet so graceful. We came across this restaurant through a flyer given by the owner herself at a Whole Foods Market, which felt it was meant for us to experience for ourselves. And we were delighted to have chosen it.
