Mercado Little Spain

There's really two separate areas here. One part of this is a sit down restaurant with a host to seat you. (no reservations accepted) and there other area is a bunch of little separate food stations - sort of like Eataly. Both areas are pretty good and offer lots of tasty Spanish choices. Both areas have alcohol and sit down areas. There's tons of different showcases of food that looks like you are actually in a Spanish market. For example they have whole baby pigs hanging up, fresh fish and live oysters and lots of other traditional Spanish foods that look very good. There's not enough time to try it all. At the sit down restaurant there was a mix up on the order and we weren't served at the same time. There was also a bit of confusion each time they delivered anything to us. The waitress was kind and helpful though. It just seemed like it could use a bit better organization. The amount of food was plentiful for a meal. If you go here, I hope you enjoy pork or seafood. Those are the main ingredients.

Second time here and we had a chance to try the food. The chicken paella was quite good but could easily be mistaken for chicken rice from a South American nation. The sangria was red wine with an orange slice and definitely not worth the price. Skip it. Still I’m giving 4 stars for the ambiance and generally friendly staff.

A very lovely Spanish (from Spain) food court/market with a few full-service Spanish restaurants. The moment you come through the doors, the odor of amazing, smoky Spanish paprika wafts to your nose. Ahhh, this MUST be Madrid, Valencia or Barcelona. Clean, elegant, friendly atmosphere and great choice of delicious, well made and presented foods. Some items, maybe more than just some, are pricey. But this is NYC & a lot is pricey. To mind comes the carafe of Sangria at $60, 6-0, not 16. Bite the bullet and enjoy a nice evening here sometime. Not easy to get a table, especially a table with chairs. You can reserve a spot at some food kiosks where they’ll bring you your order from the various places, but you might have a half hour or longer wait after giving your name.
