Great food, great service, great location and ingredients. Pastas are spectacular, the fried calamari to share is a must!

Zia Maria has a very good Italian food, the Pizza dough was excellent and the pasta was fresh and deliccious.
Its pity that the Mozzarella in the Caprese salad was not fresh, otherwise they would have deserved 5 stars.

Have ordered take out a lot lately - the lasagna is so good and reasonably priced. Big portion lasts me multiple meals. Highly recommend.

My my my the food was delicious! I had the chicken parmigiana and my SO had the lasagna...hmm hmm good!!! However, the outdoor heating lamps need improvement. I’ll be sure to come back though!

Zia Maria is a casual pizza + pasta sit-down restaurant with a full bar located in Chelsea. the indoor space is quite large, well-maintained, and clean, and there was a decent amount of seating outside as well. the restaurant has a relaxed warm vibes--perfect for families and low-key get-togethers. a group of us had lunch here when indoor dining was still in effect.
servings are quite ample whether you're ordering pizza or pasta. as a group of 4, we ordered 2 pastas and 2 small pizzas, and we were all pretty stuffed. i really enjoyed the small "meat lover's pizza" and could barely finish half of it. the pizza is thin crust and the meats put it on the saltier side, but it was quite good. tasted the bolognese which was good as well as the ravioli. i'd definitely stick with pizza over pasta here if i dined here again. there's a full bar with cocktails and such if you want an adult beverage.
service was fast and friendly.

The food was delicious although service was a bit slow. Everything tasted very authentic and home made. Came here for a lunch with co workers & everyone wanted something different ( I.e split check with a 1,000 other questions to accompany the meal) and the staff was very accommodating. Very nice environment, cozy, and welcoming. Also, their lunch menu was very satisfying, price and all. Will come back again, When I have more time.

Great food. Lovely attentive staff. The night I was there there was a singer doing Sinatra classics. It was raining but they put a special tent over us and even hung plants around us. Was perfect.

Made mistakes on our takeout order...and then never responded.
We placed an order earlier this month for a chicken parm, pizza and a spinach salad. We requested extra basil on the Margherita pizza. The order actually arrived quite quickly from the time of our order (about 35-40 minutes afterwards). But there were a number of problems with the order, the biggest of which was that instead of a spinach salad, we received a spinach side dish. There was no extra basil on the pizza. And while the chicken parm was warm, the pizza was not. We followed up with the restaurant immediately after we received delivery, especially about the mistake in not providing a spinach salad. The person at the restaurant agreed that we had ordered a spinach salad. At the request of the restaurant, we sent photos of what was sent. We were told that we would receive a reply.
Then…absolutely nothing. No apology. No response. No refund for the salad that wasn’t delivered. Nothing. We deliberately waited so as not to hound the restaurant and allow them to develop a reasonable reply. It’s now been over 2 weeks after the order was placed, and still no response of any kind. No emails. No phone messages. Nothing.
The food was ok, but nothing special. The pizza was bland, whether it was the crust, the sauce or the few scraps of basil. The chicken parm was fine, but we have an Italian restaurant across the street that does better. And of course, the spinach salad was missing.
We will never order from or dine at Zia Maria again. Average food, sloppy order fulfillment and miserable, unresponsive management. There are plenty of excellent Italian restaurants in New York. Zia Maria (Chelsea) is at the entirely opposite end of the spectrum.
