Omg, the food here was sooooo good. The staff recommended their best selling sandwich (the Italian) and it was tremendously good. I can't wait to come back to NYC again, in fact I might just have to fly in, order, and fly back out while I eat my Italian sandwich on the plane hehe..JK but I do recommended this place.

As a former employee, it's nice to visit periodically and enjoy what I use to make. With that said here are some insider tips.
1. You can get your sandwich items (like mushrooms, onions and etc) cooked separately - - Your sandwich will explode with flavor in a way it never has. The best time to try this is when there is little demand.
2. The breads are the same - - Despite their appearance, Potbelly allows you to assume one bread is healthier then the other.
3. Enjoy the food, don't count the calories - - Potbelly is not a super healthy restaurant, but a super efficient one. You can place an order, grab extras, and pay within 5 minutes.
4. Your happiness matters (seriously) - - the staff will go the extra mile to make you happy. The manager will go even further. Sometimes mangers will give away free cookies if you compliment the service as well.
5. The well done beef - - The beef has the most time invested into it. Reward yourself with a lightly seasoned, lightly oiled, well done sandwich that reminds you of how good life can be. Top it with provolone cheese, onions, mayo, and lettuce. You will be one stop from heaven.

It's a great sandwich place if you've never been. The food is very genuine, it is not overly processed. The ice cream and the cookies are excellent! They are known for their exceptionally friendly staff. I will say the crowd at this location can get pretty large, being in Rockefeller Plaza. Overall it's a great and fairly priced place for lunch.

The sandwich I had was very tasty, the portion not too big and a good price considering the location. However, the service was appalling, you need to remove "friendly staff" from the shops motto because they were far from it. The counter is far too high; I am 5ft5" and it came up to my chin. I had to practically yell my orders to the staff because I was so far away and they couldn't hear me. One of the workers was replenishing the crisp/ chip bags whilst I was in the queue. I took a bag from the front of the display, and the worker said "you know, its easier if you take the bags from on top instead of from the front" then he said to the person in the queue behind me "I don't know why I bother, I am wasting my time here" I've never heard anyone in a shop speak like that before. Save it for the staff room if you have to gossip and complain about your customers. How was I supposed to know not to take that particular bag? That is what the are there for. Then when we paid, my boyfriend had taken his order over to the til. The staff at the til and the one handing me my order were talking about us as if we were not there "I don't know if these two are together; I don't know if they are paying together" Then she assumed we were paying separately. Here's an idea for next time, maybe try asking. Very rude staff.

The grilled chicken and cheese has very little flavor. Surprisingly little flavor. I doubt the chicken was grilled. No grillmarks at all. The bread was good. Also had the broccoli and cheddar soup. Also somewhat bland. The upside is that the food was prepared quickly.

I ate my first Potbelly Sandwich and loved it! it's similar to Subways sandwich and the concept is pretty much the same, you choose your bread, meat, toppings, and dressing. Since I've only eaten here once, I tried the Pizza sandwich since I'm a fan of pepperoni and it definitely lived up to my standard. I look forward to trying out the other menu items and creating my own combinations of tasty flavors. The service was quick and efficient and the servers and cashier were all very friendly and made it a pleasant dinning experience. There were other places to choose from around Rockefeller, but I'm glad I got to try Potbelly.

The General manager yells at customers how i know because i was a customer. She doesn't have customer service skills at all . I witnessed her touch her private while asking what the next sandwich is . I will not go back to that store . i tried today and she disrespected a little innocent child and grandfather. Dont go THERE.

Friends decided on Potbelly during our visit to Rockfeller Plaza. We were quickly discovered that restaurants in the offer no service between 10:30-11 and we arrived at 10:40. After looking at other restaurants we returned to Potbelly at 11. They’re oven wasn’t hot and they shooed is out of the restaurant. Ten minutes later the oven still wasn’t hot and we moved on to another restaurant. I’m adding another star because I know the potbelly reputation and have had pleasant experiences at other locations.
