Underline Coffee

Perfect hideaway in West Chelsea. Owner operator is super pleasant and clearly is living his best life. This is exactly the coffee shop to frequent if you have a soul and smile at puppies regularly. There is a Starbucks around the corner for the rest of you. We like it in here...wait, never mind, don’t come here...you won’t like it...it’s not really your style. It’s dark, and people have books they’re reading, and I saw several people having conversations and looking each other in the eye rather than giving their phone screen the attention it demands, and I believe I overheard laughter and warmth among several conversations among infidels. I feel like the music was too weird for you as well, like something “influencers” would find objectionable. We got this. Nothing to see here.

Cool little cafe, tucked underneath the Highline. Looks like it's been here way before this area of Chelsea became gentrified. It's a little hole-in-the-wall, but the coffee is good and staff is attentive and quick to serve. This is the kind of place that defines what makes NYC cool....a bit edgy, sharp, and there's substance, even if the outside appearance is kind of rough. I would love to have a place like this next to my million dollar pad....

❤️ Great little coffee shop just under the highline. The layout is nice and there is a good amount of seating. I can definitely see how it would be nice to study or catch up with a friend, maybe even a quaint little date. For me, it's also very close to Chelsea Piers Fitness, so I have a place to grab a cup of joe before or after going to the gym. Speaking of the coffee, the taste is solid; I had a cappuccino, and the milk had been steamed perfectly from what I was seeing behind the counter :) I will be taking advantage of this place in the future for sure!

Underline Coffee is an absolute must if you're visiting the highline or you're in the general area. The baristas are really friendly and knowledgeable, the milk treatment is great and if you like their espresso blend you'll have a wonderful experience. I personally prefer a washed coffee with my milk drinks but this is just personal preference. They offer plenty of non-coffee related beverages which are also great. Highly recommended.
