We ducked into Cotenna to escape the sleet and cold yesterday; and what a fortuitous stop it was!! No brunch menu per se, but the lunch menu was extensive and inexpensive. My wild boar stew was just what I needed for a wintry day. I also enjoyed my cocktail, and the bartender/manager was über friendly! My daughter loved her mushroom bruschetta, and my husband was thrilled to see grilled sardines on the menu; they did not disappoint. Lunch Cotenna was a great idea; it's difficult to get a spot at dinner!! We look forward to returning!
We found Cotenna this past summer by chance. Cozy restaurant on bedford serving reasonably price but excellent italian food. Bruce is a gem and takes care of everyone so well. We have been back several times and are never disappointed.
Cozy Italian restaurant in a proverbial neighborhood, we ordered the grilled octopus salad and the truffle gnocchi. They were both great, and the service was amazing as well. We had a delightful dinner here.
First Italian meal in New York and it didn't disappoint. Excellent food and service. Cozy and intimate dining area. Excellent value! Came back for a second time before vacation was over.
So delicious! We got the truffle Mac n cheese and lobster tortelloni and both were amazing and good portions. Great value for money and wonderful service. Cute cozy place. We came in on a Friday for lunch and were the only ones there. They deserve more business though!
We found this gem through the Michelin recommendation and we almost didn’t go because the google ratings, but we are so happy we went because this place deserves all the praise it gets. The service was wonderful and atmosphere was cozy and the absolute best of all was the food. The truffle gnocchi and chocolate soufflé are what dreams are made of. What was most surprising was how affordable it is as well.
One of the best meals of my life! As long as you skip past the questionably and confusing hostess…
We made a reservation for here at 5pm and arrived on time. The inside is very tight, and super tiny. The minute we are seated inside, the hostess tells us they have a large party and that we need to leave in an hour - that’s doable as long as the food gets here quickly. We then proceed to wait 15 minutes to actually get our orders placed as the hostess does not take orders and is pacing back and forth as the place got more crowded. I really don’t know why she told us to finish in an hour when we had a reservation? We then heard her tell another group that the large party was arriving at 7:30! 😒 why were we being rushed at 5??? But regardless of this weird situation - food was phenomenal.
We had the Caesar salad, octopus salad, crab cakes, bruschetta, house seafood pasta, and truffle gnocchi (my favorite). I cannot stop thinking about this particular meal. I’m definitely coming back!
My 5th time here and LOVED IT EVERY SINGLE TIME.
My favorites have been the lamb shank risotto, bolognese, meatballs, octopus salad, and cheesecake. For the love of god try these items.
Enjoy the food and bring your best friends and family.
Love,
The guy who’s gonna come back again and again
Great food. Packed. Everything was great, but I would probably skip the linguine vongola next time. Still, even that hit the spot.
Cozy Italian Restaurant in downtown Manhattan.
Food was tasty and delicious. The establishment has limited seating but I promise you, you’ll enjoy your time.
We wanted to order the octopus but they didn’t have it on their menu. We ordered pasta dishes one with sausage and the other with mushrooms.
Pricing is fair, wish they served a bit more. The wait staff is extremely attentive and professional. The bar area is absolutely beautiful along with the decor of the establishment.
Highly recommend this beautiful and friendly italian spot.
Had a nice time. Wasn’t wowed but would go back. Place is very small so something to keep in mind. Food was a little cold which was surprising since they weren’t busy yet but things happen. Someone at our table ordered the pesto pasta dish which they absolutely loved. Also those that ordered cocktails were very happy with them.
Located in the West Village this small Italian restaurant just served me one of the best meals of my life. Myself and 4 other friends came for dinner while visiting NYC with some friends. The atmosphere was very cozy, sophisticated and nothing short of high quality. The service was excellent! Attentive, friendly and fast. The food was spectacular. It was amazing, I can't get enough. It was just from top to bottom some of the best food I've ever had. Definitely recommend this spot, a gem.
