The Hype is real... was pleasantly surprised by this Major food group installation on Thompson. It’s schticky but that’s the point. Everything from the bread, meats and pastas are world class. Seating is interesting and we happened to get a great one the first night I dined there. The rigatoni is a do not miss along with dessert if you can actually save room for it. Highly recommend

Carbone NYC is classic, old-school Italian – you can’t leave here without trying the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka. Outstanding food. Check out my blog for a more detailed review on what to order.

Absolutely stunning. The atmosphere here is what I like best. Everything seems to have a class feel. The restaurant itself is known for having a "Italian-American restaurants of mid-20th century in New York, where delicious, exceptionally well-prepared food was served in settings that were simultaneously elegant, comfortable and unpretentious." In addition to the obvious. The food here is exceptional. The pasta is always cooked to perfection. There's not one thing I could even complain about. If you are looking for a restaurant that aims to please this is deffinitely the place for that. All of the staff at Carbone are exceptionally wonderful and polite. Manors here are a must because it is so elegant. Dressing for the occasion is the norm. I love coming here!

Carbone is a great Michelin Star rated restaurant located on 181 Thompson St in Greenwich Village. The atmosphere is cool and hip with a 1950s Italian style and the wait staff are friendly and trendy. You are greeted with a big menu and friendly smiles. Note that the selection is focused - there are around twenty items on the menu

Carbone has been on my priority list for a long time but somehow, other places have always preceded it. Carbone serves old-school Italian classics such as veal parm, meatballs and loads of red sauce. Prices are steep and the place has a fun vibe. I had a nice evening but wouldn't rush back as there are several other Italian restaurants I like better in NYC (such as L'Amico and L'Artusi). But Carbone is a good spot for a group of guys celebrating a deal or bachelor party......

Little Italy in NYC is quickly being taken over by Rich Torrisi and Mario Carbone and that’s both good and bad. I loved Parm and Torrisi Italian Specialties  and Carbone was great minus the price tag; $275 , which for two is a little much for above average Italian…don’t get me wrong, I loved the energy and the slightly in your face, “I know what you want” service style, but $20 for an average caesar salad is just wrong. The best way I can describe it would be to equate it to walking into a restaurant scene from Goodfellas, minus Tommy Two Times. Low light, but you get the point… The other problem I had was the up sale the waiters put on; we were told we should order at least one thing from each section of the menu and then were advised to “add on” certain “off menu items” to enhance the experience. We ordered four items and the “off menu” meatballs and it was way too much food, especially when they bring out gratis parm, prosciutto, pickled veggies and four different kinds of bread. Pr

Carbone was absolutely amazing! From the delicious food to the attentive service and warm atmosphere - it was such a great dining experience. The veal Parmesan and shrimp exceeded my expectations and the carpaccio was one of the best I’ve had. The dessert was very decadent and they also gave us two little almond cakes. The bread and antipasto were also very delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish we ordered and had a great evening. Our server was very friendly, attentive and offered some great recommendations on dishes. We went to Carbone because it was my sister’s first time in NYC and she was very happy with the food. I highly recommend Carbone and I can’t wait to come back!

I don't even need to describe the atmosphere! I had a hard time finding a reservation but finally tried it. The employees are very knowledgeable and nice. I give full points to the service. We tried three different pasta. Very good in terms of freshness and texture, but average in sauce. I didn't like the fact that the onion tasted like a home made sauce. But it's a restaurant I will remember!

Carbone has exceptional food, service, and atmosphere. The lobster ravioli and baked clams are my personal favorite. The lobster ravioli has a satisfying chunks of lobster that are coated in a creamy savory sauce. The baked clams have 3 flavors, and the clams that are topped with fresh uni are my favorites. Ever since my first visit to carbone, I cannot stop coming back to feast on their pasta.

The experience I had at Carbone was exceptional. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! 10/10 would dine again (If I'm lucky to even get another reservation there since they are booked like a year out.)

I’ve seen several people say the carbone food is overhyped but worth going once for the experience. Maybe it was because I went in with lower expectations, but I thought everything from the food to the service was incredible. From the minute you walk in there’s a sense of fine dining and the ambiance is very warm. I got a reservation for 2 people during the holiday season. When we arrived we were immediately taken to our table and given complimentary bread, cheese and meat. I ordered an espresso martini which I thought was delicious. Our server was so attentive and friendly which really elevated our experience. I ordered the famous spicy rigatoni and my fiancé ordered the lobster ravioli. Both dishes were delicious and really uniquely made in my opinion. We wanted to order one spicy rigatoni to go and our server said they don’t do takeout orders, but he was kind enough to pack the extra dish for us which was very thoughtful. Before dessert they gave us two amaretto rainbow cookies after our meals which were very good too. Finally for dessert they bring a whole table of their options to let you see each dessert in person before choosing. Honestly all of the options sounded great but we went with the Nutella tiramisu and it truly was one of the best tiramisus I’ve had. From the service to the food I really think each aspect of our time at carbone was great. If it wasn’t so hard to get a reservation I could see us trying to come again.

I've had this place on my list for quite some time, and I must say, it definitely lived up to the anticipation and excitement. The overall experience, from the impeccable service to the delightful atmosphere, was truly exceptional and deserves a perfect rating. The spicy rigatoni dish is absolutely divine, with flavors that are to die for. And the ribeye steak is incredibly tender, melting in your mouth with every bite. From the beginning of the meal to the very end, every aspect of this dining experience was outstanding, earning it a solid 10 from me. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, and I highly recommend trying their Old Fashioned cocktail, which is made with a unique touch of bourbon and rum.

Had such an amazing meal here! The food, the ambience, the service were all phenomenal. It’s definitely not easy to get a reservation, but I recommend trying your best. My family went for lunch and I was unable to join them due to work. But they raved so much we went back the next reservation we could get. The spicy rigatoni is popular for a reason, just wow. And one person at our table ordered the gluten free version which was just as good. We also ordered the chopped salad and Cesar salad which were both delicious. Additionally, I’m personally not a huge fan of carpaccio piemontese was amazing, which honestly surprised me. Will definitely return!

I've been to Carbone a few times over the years and have just about tried everything on the menu at this point. I'll say it's worth going to once or twice, but not for the food. It's a beautiful establishment and I've seen plenty celebrities there and made plenty of friends at dinner (all the tables are crammed together and it's so easy to chat with everyone around you). That said, the food is pretty overpriced for what it is – it's not bad, just the same as every Italian place in the city. Great vibe though, dimly lit and fun music and occasionally the right Italian song brings clapping and loud singing. It can be hard to get a res – if you call them they can usually get you a table anytime for some crazy min spend (usually 500-1000 range), but I'd more strongly recommend just keeping Resy notifs on – very often, they drop a bunch of tables between 9-11pm hours the day before, and there's probably a 30m window for you to grab something then. Okay, let's get to food. The vodka pasta is good, but so overhyped - it's not at all hard to recreate this, but it does deliver what you'd expect. The other pastas are all alright and I find that the seafood tends to be a bit fishy always, so I'd avoid that. The porterhouse is great but it's real pricy and you can get better porterhouse in the city for half the price. Other meats are generally good (executed well), but not too memorable. I'd say that the baked clams are actually pretty good and the salads are great as well. The desserts are great, no complaints there (esp. the carrot cake, it's the stuff of dreams)! After all these visits, the BEST thing at Carbone (which I think you'll find as soon as you visit) are the little snacks they give you for free. The cheese is delicious, the bread basket has variety and a bunch of delicious types, and the cheeses/meats change over time but are generally great. Anyways, worth a visit or two, but wouldn't go too often - more about the crowd than the food. :)

This place was a gem. They brought out delicious table snacks of thinly sliced meat, warm mozzarella and garlic bread. We had the Spicy Vodka Pasta, artichoke hearts, and Meatballs. Originally we ordered the veal too but we got too full off the meatballs and pasta. I don’t think the meatballs are a “must” but the spicy vodka definitely is. The desserts had no price tag but were $25 each and in my opinion were not very good. I’ll definitely go again, I even ordered some of the vodka sauce off their website.

I mean, it’s Carbone. How can you go wrong? Eddie was the best server. The table side starters of bread, cheese, cauliflower, and parm were incredible. The Caesar salad was good. Minestrone was a surprise, I am used to tomato based broth. It was good after we added some salt though. The vodka pasta was the biggest hit. Amazing. Acorn squash was divine. Meatballs were good. Lemon cheesecake was 10/10. The only qualms about the space was the loud music in back but it’s an awesome space otherwise.
