Joe G's is one of my favorite local Italian spots. I've been there more times than I can count and I have never been disappointed. It's a real "red sauce' Italian joint, no frills, but great food. The appetizers are delicious, I usually go for the fried calamari or mozzarella sticks (who can resist?) and the stuffed clams are also really great. The Caesar salad is also one of the best I have ever had. Joe's chicken dishes are my favorite, the parmiagiana is always cheesy and great for a simple comfort meal but my all time favorite is the Pollo Alla Sorrentina - make sure to get extra bread for that yummy sauce! I was shocked at how good the pizza is. The mushrooms are fresh and the cheese is delicious and now I want a pizza! I haven't tried too many pasta dishes but the bolognese is great. Rich and hearty without feeling too heavy.
Thank You, Joe G!. For years, my husband and I have traveled from Connecticut to New York just to eat at Joe G's, ever since it was next to the Ed Sullivan theater. We have never had less than the best of meals there; they make us whatever we ask for if it's not on the menu; and the staff has treated us better than any where else. We have always, and will continue to always, recommend Joe G's to our friends and family. Thank you, Joe G. and staff!! Michael and Denise.
Food was legit, exactly as expected given the vibe.
Service was impeccable, it’s like being treated as one of the family. Friendly, but not too pushy as to interrupt anything. Wine suggestion on point. Kudos.
Atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. On a random Monday evening had a few, what seemed to be locals, in the restaurant talking about their lives. As tourists this added a layer of charm for us.
Great job team. Well done. Will come again.
Warm, inviting atmosphere, despite being downstairs- ground level. I came here specifically to try the pizza and was rewarded with an excellent pie! I had the personal Margherita pizza with pepperoni. It was just enough for one person and was both delicious and beautiful. I loom forward to coming back for a full dinner. The restaurant is larger than it first seems, with both high-top and traditional tables as well as a full bar with seating. They also have outside seating.
Had a lunch here while staying at a hotel nearby based on the reviews I saw on Google and the reasonable prices on the menu. This was a true find!!! We ordered the Joe G pizza as an appetizer to share and we all were just amazed at how mouth watering good it was. My wife ordered the gnocchi with mushrooms and it was the lightest and fluffiest gnocchi and we’ve ever had- and we’ve had many from real Italian chefs. Even the ceaser salad impressed as simple as that is. Alcohol prices weren’t too bad either. Has a very nice ambiance and location is not far from broadway or Columbus circle.
The food was delicious. The service was personable. The atmosphere was cozy and comforting. Felt like I was at my Italian Uncle’s house for dinner.
Hard to decide which deserves top billing - the food or the service.
After a great day in Central Park we tucked into this incredible spot. Tony met us on the street and instantly was friendly and approachable. Great menu suggestions and impeccable service throughout. Wine recommendation yes. 🍷
Caesar salad on point. Linguine with clams simple and perfect. Great flexibility Tony said yes to every special request tailored dishes “whatever you want we can give you”. Chicken cacciatore tender and flavorful. Fettuccine vodka sauce amazing. It was mid- afternoon and usually dessert not on our list BUT OMG tiramisu and cannoli not to be missed. You will not find cannoli like that anywhere.
Put this on your list of must stop places when in NYC.
My friend, boyfriend and I visited Joe G’s and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Everyone working there was warm and kind and very attentive. We loved Joe G’s so much my friend and I went back a second time before we flew out of the city!

The delicious food and relaxed atmosphere were the perfect start to our NYC weekend. The gnocchi was delicious, but the ravioli with spinach and gorgonzola was melt in your mouth, sigh with every bite amazing! Then we topped it off with dessert - tiramisu with just the right combination of ingredients to make it soft and delicious and cannoli with rich custard and crunchy crust with a hint of cinnamon - both were wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Gant was especially helpful. We highly recommend this restaurant.
The ultimate old-era NYC dining experience! Gant was phenomenal, on top of every level of service. It’s a very small restaurant and you can just feel rich history in these walls. The food was excellent, we ordered a handful of small plates…and the pistachio martini is a must try!
Delicious pizza and Tiramisu. Terrific service by uncle Tony himself! Great spot for a true Italian experience
Fabulous atmosphere for casual diner. I had chicken park and Joe the Lobster Ravioli. The host took me by the hand and helped me down the entrance steps. Prices are great! The food was wonderful! Lobster Ravioli was a big hit. I loved chicken parmigiana. You just can’t go wrong!
