Pleasantly surprised upon visiting this fine establishment. Food well proportioned and I can say it has been the only restaurant I have eaten at this far in NYC where the waiters have brought the plates out to the correct patrons without even asking! I found that service amazing!

Have been going here for years. Never fail food is always on par. Drinks are always to the tee. Have your own request? No problem bartender will be happy to make it for you if ingredients are available. Hooked on kettle extra shaken with dash of orange bitters. Delicious. Menu wise there isn't a single thing I wouldn't recommend trying. Depends on what you're in mood for. Service is top knot here. Extremely well executed restaurant, staff and everything that comes with managing a smooth running restaurant

Came here for restaurant week with mum. The offerings are similar to the Chicago location and the pricing is similar too given a few $$ here and there. I definitely think the Chicago restaurant has a better ambience, and also probably more varied offering I will say that it’s more open space and they have tried to keep the older British look of the place intact. It's mostly the palm trees and the long windows with the shutters. Service was good but a little slow which is fine since it's lunch and they didn't need to turn around our table quickly. We had the chicken and mushroom soup and the spring rolls with shrimp to start- recommend the latter and for the main I definitely recommend the chicken sandwich- very well made, while not as interesting in theory as the other offerings, it tastes amazing. For dessert I tried the coconut tapioca pudding with mango, I didn't find this outstanding but definitely different from the chocolate cake that mum tried.

Funky and very cool space. Great for an after dinner drink in the lounge upstairs or a laid back dinner with friends. This place is old, or at least looks that way. The chairs are heavily worn, as is the carpet. The entire place smells like an old book but that's what lends to it's charm. I've never sat downstairs for dinner, which looks a bit more corporate. Filet salad and vegetable rolls are some of my favorite bar items from the lounge upstairs.

Why this place is a 5 starer: 1. Ambience is of any top fine dinning restaurant, beautiful and romantic. 2. The moment I ask which wine should I go for , the server gave me a sample to try ( that's awesome ) 3. I ordered a lotus salad and my husband ate chicken wings ( he said he never had this good wings before). He ate them with hands and without asking the waiter gave him warm towel to wash. 4. We ordered a sea bass and garlic noodles as an entree. The fish was superbly made and very fresh, the noodles were by far the best stir fried I ever had( no post acidic taste of a stir fry dish) 5. Best part, I dropped a carrot flake on the table post by appetizer and when we were served the entrees, the waiter actually cleaned that one small peck like carrot flake from the table. If I knew this restaurant before, I would have visited here multiple times during my New York trip. For the next one, I would be here again for sure. Enjoyed every bit of the experience.

Dined here on a Saturday night with the wife and my daughter and her boyfriend. We were seated promptly for our 7pm reservation. Our server recommended that we order 3 small plates and 2 large plates and share everything. We ordered the pho, shumai, and crispy spring rolls for the small plates. Duck and grilled salmon for the large plates. We also got fried rice and Brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious. Service was terrific. The restaurant was busy but not noisy. They had a good selection of wines by the glass. Even the desserts were very good. My daughter liked the green tea crepe, which was more cake than crepe. Wifey and I split a lemon-ginger sorbet which was great. Le Colonial is a winner.

What an incredible restaurant! Wonderful food, polite staff and very quick service. The venue is a little loud but that didn't particularly bother me. The food here is incredible, I couldn't pronounce anything on the menu but it all tasted fantastic.

I enjoyed the food and drinks. The table was cozy enough to hear my dining companions (7 of us), and the restaurant didn't feel the need to throw a million large plates on the table, so we had room. Sedate but stylish.

Really nice menu. I had the shrimp curry and it was soooo good! There was a large party next to me of 10 people and I think they covered the entire menu and everyone was happy with their choice. Nice romantic atmosphere, I love these old New York restaurants with the classic designs and I loved the music. Attentive service.

Very nice restaurant - very pretty. Service was very good. Had seafood with noodles - very tasty. My husband had duck which he also was happy with. Friend had a steak dish which she said she wouldn't get again - she didn't care for the spices. Would definitely go back.
