Really impressed by this place. It's a little pricey but totally worth it! I had the Burger Royale (and added avocado) and it was probably one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Fries were good, wine was good, service was friendly. The ambience of the place is a little loud--very crowded but the decor is cute and I liked being close enough to the other tables to check out their amazing dishes too. Lol
Definitely will be on my NYC restaurant lists any time I'm there.
I went for the 1st time I. The Manhattan area and I must say that the place was beautiful. Tried the Famous Mac & Cheese and it was amazing. The person that serviced us was on point and was giving us the best service out there. Others came to pick up and clean our table as we finished and I have no complaints whatsoever. I will be returning and I recommend for other who have not gone to check it out if you want to try something different.
Came here for breakfast. I love that they have sparkling and still water at the table. Had the French toast, waffles with blueberry compote, eggs Benedict on smoked salmon. All was delicious. I especially liked the waffles. So light and fluffy, it was so easy to wolf down.
Loved the food and the staff was very nice. This is a lively but also a bit loud place. Prices are also very reasonable. All in all it's very good for what you pay.
After a long walk in NY we saw this place with great decor and large opened windows so decided to walk in.
The receptionist accommodated us with a table close to the AC as it was over 30 degres outside.
Our waitress was nice and friendly. We chose the avocado on toast and it arrived very quickly.
The food is fantastic and fresh. We had a lovely time.
I love this place. Love the ambience and definitely lobe the food. But this place is quite hectic and full on the brunch time. Better make a reservation before coming especially in the peak hours. The smores dessert was amazing, i like it so much. And the brioche, so delish
Amazing brunch. I love the vibe and the decoration. The French toast is to die for - literally. The staff can be rude, even with that I give them a 5*

The Smith happens to be one of my Favorite Brunch spots for young professionals in NYC. If you are looking for somewhere to eat brunch in the East Village area, The Smith should be on your short list. The atmosphere is trendy, the service is always pretty good and the food is hot, fresh and well seasoned. Check out the five items that I absolutely love on the Smith’s Brunch menu.
The Smith was recommended by a friend and what a nice place. Very crowded for a Sunday night yet we got a booth. If visiting do make reservations and ask for a booth as they have more space. The tables are quite cramped. In the starters the gnocchi was amazing. If you don't mind a bit of heat do try the angry apple. For main course we had chicken pot pie, pork chops and brick pressed chicken. All the the dishes were really tasty. The service was impeccable. For sure would go again. It is not inexpensive though.
It's been three years and I still remember this place fondly when I think of my time in New York. Food was delicious and the service was amazing!!
The Smith is one of the more popular of the generation of NYC restaurants that evolved out of the speakeasy scene. Lots of cocktails and lots of wood contrast with the industrial lamps and white tile walls. It's like eating on a renovated subway platform from the 1940s. The place, at 7 on a weekend, was crowded, but not such that I wasn't able to get a reservation or find a spot at the bar to wait for my friends. It's a little loud and the food is standard American comfort food, by and large. Burgers, pot pie, mac and cheese - standard gastropub; no groundbreaking menus here - so maybe it shouldn't be a shock that there were a fair number of kids. I guess that if mom and dad want a drink, and the kids want a burger, and nobody wants boring, The Smith is a pretty good choice.
Amazing!!! I got the Mac and cheese and honestly it was one of the best I've had in a while!! It was creamy and cheesy and in the cutest pan! Don't forget the s'mores in a jar, aka the best dessert ever made. SO AMAZING
Super fun, classy, delicious night out. Everything was extremely speedy and the ambience was so beautiful. The fries that come with the burger are plentiful and yummy. We both got drinks and were very pleased with them! Highly highly recommend.
I recently had a delightful lunch there with friends. We started with the Mac n cheese, which were served piping hot and perfectly roasted. incredibly rich and creamy! SO GOOD! For my main course, I opted for the Smith burger.🍔 It was flavorful, and satisfying!
Their menu is extensive, with something for everyone, including burgers, salads, sandwiches, pasta, and entrees like steak, fish, and chicken. Additionally, they boast an excellent variety of cocktails, beer, and wine. Our server was friendly and attentive. All in all, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual meal in the neighborhood.
The Smith burger is delicious. Their mussels and pasta are also good. We had the vodka sauce and the squid ink pasta. Some of the entrees come with fries. I appreciate that they offer complimentary sparkling water.
I got the steak and eggs. Was great. Very straight forward. The rest of the food was good too and the hot chocolate was nice as well. The food in the Croissant was great too but a little too much sauce. Was a great experience. Missing just little touches to push it up to that 5 star experience. Flavor needs to punch you in the face. Final verdict: would def go again and even recommend for brunch.
Great food and service. Warm ambiance. I ordered The crisp apple salad with chicken and it was delicious. Husband ordered the smoked salmon toast (he loved) and Jalapeño grits. The grits were good but could have been served hotter. Tomato soup was delicious. Overall a pleasant experience.
I went to The Smith on a Thursday night with a friend. We went because of their famous Bloody Mary that is made with a special recipe. It was great. A bit spicy compared to a classic Bloody Mary but really good. And their Mac and Cheese? Wow. Simply WOW. I would definitely recommend it especially for the tourists that want to have a real NewYorker Experience.
Excellent service and delicious food. Oh, did I say delicious food? I met family here for lunch one afternoon while I was in town for a film festival. I found The Smith through a Google search looking for restaurants with good ratings and a nice atmosphere that was located close to our theater. The Smith was the perfect decision! My burger and fries were excellent! I enjoyed my beer and my family members that ordered alcoholic drinks were pleased as well.
First time there, definitely coming back again. The staff was very nice to us and the place is very spacious, it does not feel like you are sharing a table with the table next to you.
The Rancheros Scrambled and Johnny Benedict's were really good
Another wonderful dinner a The Smith. We were looking forward to the pork chop and were not dissapointed. The meat was jussy and paired wonderfully with the grits. The dessert was amazing, especially the blueberry almond crust pie and s'mores in a jar. The chocolate pudding was silky and the graham cracker crumble created wonderful texchural counterpoint. The Smith is our go-to place for dinner. Will be back.
Took us about 30 mins after our reservation to get seated but other than that, nice food, friendly service, buzzy atmosphere.
