Amazing restaurant. We didn't even have reservations and were served with the utmost attention and care. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was so cozy and nice and there was live music when we were there. There were celebrities sitting at the table next to us. Again we simply walked in and were seated at arguably the best table in the place, right in front of the band. The potatoes and leek soup was the most delicious soup I ever had, and my steak-frites was cooked perfectly and served with an amazing sauce. The chocolate mousse was excellent as well. This was all at a very reasonable price as well. This will be a required stop every time I am in the city. The whole experience was perfection. The waiter was patient and highly professional in giving recommendations and attention to our needs.

What a dinner we had at Le Rivage! Everything about this restaurant was of perfection! They had a live performance too which was super good. My friend had the duck (as in the video) and I had the boneless short ribs. Short ribs were super tender and flavorful and I loved the sauce that came with it. Will definitely revisit and try some other dishes!!

My friends and I have so come to love Le Rivage!!! The food is delicious, the staff so lovely and warm. We play jazz here and it’s our favorite atmosphere to come to! And decorated so beautifully for Christmas, you must stop in!

I was in Midtown for a show, and chose La Rivage based on their positive Google reviews. It did not disappoint. We were welcomed by the smiling hostess, and were immediately felt warmed up by the atmosphere here, on a very cold night. There was a piano player, playing a variety of genres at just the right volume, which just added to the vibe of the place. Their Matire’D Tommy was such a great host, and gave us some recommendations on food and wine. We had some funny conversations with him throughout the night, and pretty much felt like we were old friends by the time our meal was over ha ha. I had the frisée and lardons salad to start, as this is one of my favorite French starters, and it was spot on. Then I had a trout dish, after having seen the photo of the dish on a screen behind the bar, and it looked so appetizing. I give this dish a 10 out of 10. The breading on the fish was super light, almost nonexistent, and the fish was very fresh and flaky. It was served over a bed of perfectly whipped mashed potatoes, and nice haricot vert. There were toasted almonds on top of the fish which complemented the dish in both flavor and texture. There were so many other things on the menu that I wanted to try, like the French onion soup burger, but I would go back just for this trout as well. You could tell that they really spent time perfecting everything here over the last 30-something years in business. Long story short, I don’t think you’ll find a better choice in the neighborhood for this perfect combination of great food, warm atmosphere, and stellar service.

Food was excellent; the prix fixe lunch menu is incredibly priced for the quality and portions! The staff was professional and kind. The hostess was so sweet, friendly and attentive. Recommend the Escargots, Moules, Trout Almandine, Frisbee aux Lardons, and French onion soup!

Came here after watching a musical and had a fantastic time! The Frog legs and French Onion Soup were to die for and we had an amazing atmosphere with live music playing. The waiting staff was great and our waiter (cannot remember his name but we talked about Moulin Rouge) was fantastic! Highly recommend.

Hidden gem near the theatre district! The food, service, and entertainment were all exceptional. The more casual vibe was nice and allowed us to relax and truly enjoy our tuning experience. We cannot wait to return and try more off the menu. The French onion soup burger is no joke - I highly recommend it! Frog legs were delicious as well.

My husband and I definitely enjoyed this place. The service was superb and servers and staff were very attentive. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful and just what you'd want for an intimate French restaurant experience. Food was excellent. John had the Beef Bourguignon which he found outstanding. I have the Coq Au Vin which was very good. I apologize that I forgot to take pictures of the food. Our only disappointment was in the size of the deserts (Cheesecake and bread pudding). They were tasty, but VERY small. However, that really didn't diminish our great experience.

Delicious escargots and I keep wanting to go back to that onion soup burger! Those fries and ketchup were very good too. Service is great and so is the food. This restaurant has been there for ages, which explains why the place seems a little old. It still serves yummy food and I recommend it. They have executive pre-fixed menus.

Honestly, honestly. Good service firstly, because my husband and I went to see a show on broadway after the dinner so the staff made sure our food was finished quicker so we’d make our show. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and welcoming I must say. Now the food was okay. I’ve tried French cuisine before— exquisite. However this restaurant was very mediocre from the appetizer to the dessert. I wasn’t sure if it was this way because they were rushing on our meal, but I do feel if the food would taste this way the pricing should be cheaper. Other than that, had a fine time. P.S. if you order from there, do not order the rainbow trout. It’s really not good. I don’t know why they recommended it to me.
