Amazing two star Michelin star premier Nordic restaurant. Exceptional chef tasting menu with wine pairing. Phenomenal service and staff. Really worth the visit and I definitely recommend dining at Aquavit if you are in NYC and have the opportunity to book a reservation in advance.
Love this place. The taste is pretty good. I got the 3-course lunch set. I had the salmon appetizer, cod as the main dish, and chestnut dessert. The salmon and cod were great. But my friend's bird nest dessert apparently tasted better than mine 😂. Next time, I will try the chocolate dessert. The waiter asked when we had to leave and reminded us when the time was almost up. I guess they're used to having many working people eat here who have limited lunch time. Overall, it was a good experience.
Our lunch experience at Aquavit in NYC left us with mixed impressions. While we were initially excited to dine at a 2 Michelin star restaurant, we felt a bit underwhelmed. Opting for the a la carte menu instead of the tasting menu might have played a role, but we couldn't shake the feeling that other restaurants in the same category offered better lunch options.
The service was notable, but both the service and food took longer than expected, which affected the overall experience. Despite the slight disappointment, we did enjoy the meal and appreciated the ambiance.
We will make sure to give the tasting menu a try for the next time!
Truly an exceptional dining experience. I had high expectations for this 2 star Michelin restaurant and the food did not disappoint. The venue itself is on the smaller side and not particularly fancy but that's ok as the more important parts, the service and food, were both outstanding. We came hungry and decided on the chef's tasting menu over the regular tasting menu which included 8 courses instead of 5. It was the right amount of food for us (the 5 course menu would have left us wanting for more). Upgrading to the caviar experience is a must. Every course was carefully choreographed and delicious. The climax was the "bird's nest" dessert which not only was visually stunningly beautiful but an explosion of carefully balanced flavors that melted together into delightful arrangements of flavors and textures at every bite. I look forward to dining here again.
They deserve more than 5 stars, it was absolutely amazing!!! Dinner, service, accommodation for dietary restrictions. We celebrated my bfs birthday last night, and they made it extra special. The food is exquisite, there are two dishes we got too exited and didn’t even take a picture off. One of them is the arctic nest dessert, you have to try it! Our sever was amazing explaining the dishes and guiding us to the differences of the dishes. For the experience, quality of the food, service, etc it’s worth the price. Definitely recommend to everyone celebrating a special occasion or just lunch, or dinner. The yellowtail with pear is delicious. We will definitely be coming back!!
Never explored Scandinavian cuisine previously and decided to give it a try. Lots of dill and tart berries keep the dishes fresh. The service staff was very attentive yet not ovoverbearing. The wine pairing option was a bit pricey but I think it was an important part of the experience. The Crab and Corn dish and the Caviar courses were exceptional especially with the accompanying pairings. Great customized dining experience as the server notified the bar director we were in the food and beverage industry and they sent out a complimentary tasting flight of aquavit to finish the meal. Not for the faint of heart cost-wise but a great experience.
Amazing a la carte dinner experience at 2-star Michelin restaurant! We celebrated our anniversary here, and it felt like the entire staff knew us and our celebration the entire time; they went out of their way to make us feel special. They offered a complimentary glass of champagne to start. We had the juiciest herring sampler and two amazing entrees! They were incredible. The best part was the Princess Cake (not for those allergic to nuts, unfortunately). The restaurant easily accommodated food allergies. Highly recommend Aquavit!
Incredible seafood dining experience! The minimalistic atmosphere means all attention is on the food, with good reason. I loved the variety of ways seafood was prepared - fresh with the sea salt and smokiness that aptly captures the essence of Scandinavian cuisine. Plating was beautiful - simple with an artistic flair. We were so excited when the Head Chef Emma Bengtsson came by after our meal to say hi… what a treat!
Celebrated my mother's birthday at Aquavit with the Chef's tasting menu, and couldn't have picked a better place. Having enjoyed Aska several months before, I found the experience here more traditional Scandinavian and just as fantastic.
The yellowtail and scallop were incredibly fresh, the lamb was perfectly cooked (my mother has high standards for lamb and was impressed), the king crab was absolutely exquisite, and even the potato croquettes were mind-blowing. And as hyped as it is by people who frequent Aquavit, the Arctic Bird's Nest somehow exceeded expectations, aesthetically and flavor-wise. Even though I was incredibly stuffed at the end of the meal, I still found this quite possibly the greatest dessert dish I've ever had.
To top it all off, Chef Emma Bengtsson was incredibly kind to take time out of running the kitchen and greet us, chat, and take pictures. Truly a wonderful culinary experience, Aquavit perfectly encapsulates what is to be expected of fine dining, and is absolutely worthy of its 2 Michelin stars.
The appetizer are so good. All the main course is a little bit confusing especially the lamb, tooooo salty. But the duck is good. The chef are really good at controlling the heat, excellent cooked, but the sauce is a little bit weird.
The 2019 tyle sooo good, love this wine.
The birthday cake is hmmm, anyway it’s on the house, I shouldn’t judge it.
