I found this little gem in summer 2008. Since then, I have brought friends from all nationalities every time I come. The food is finger-licking-hmm-hmm-good!!! I feel like I'm back home in my grandma's kitchen, having my merienda after school 💜 Always visit when I'm in town! I can't recommend this place more to locals and visitors.
Lovely interior, fantastic atmosphere with a nice homely feel. High quality food (our Arepas were SO GOOD) and excellent and friendly service. My friend and I felt right at home at Caracas (having made it a point to eat here during our trip from Massachusetts after looking for hidden food gems and deciding on here - and it certainly was/is one) and would recommend it to anyone coming from out of town.
It's slow service but the arepa is authentic , tasty and filling. After a workout, you may crave for a crispy meal that is less plain than a salad, more healthy than a burger. The ambiance brings you to South America.
Excellent food! The place is very small, there are probably around 16 seats inside, but it wasn’t crowded when I visited. The vibe is cute, the waiter was great and the food is really, REALLY delicious!! In case you’re a vegetarian, there are plenty of options, as they offer to swap the meat for tofu on any dish. One appetizer to share and 1 arepa each were enough food for two moderately hungry people, so the price ended up being very reasonable as well. I highly recommend it!
Food is always fresh, servers are really nice and friendly. Only didn’t give it 5 stars because there was only one guy for the entire restaurant. I realize it’s not big but I thought the service could be a bit faster if one more person would be working.. other than that, great experience. Definitely recommend.
This spot is STRAIGHT FIIIIRRRREEEE! You aint gonna find none of those fluffly yellow street fair arepas up in here! The food is magnificent. Oh and the SAWCE!!! Need that secret recipe bottled up like yesterday. The service is lightning quick. The experience is amazing. The wife and I spent our 6 month married anniversary lunch here. Delicious. Then grabbed a few brews up the block at McSorleys afterwards. It was money.
From the religious themes to the food, to the spanish writing on the wall, this cozy joint is As authentic as it gets. Go get you some arepas ASAP
It's a miracle that places like that still exist in Manhattan. Big thanks to the kind and welcoming owner of this precious gem to provide his patrons with authentic food and real smiles. The arepas literally moved me, reminding me of my trips to South America. Flavorful, rich but not heavy, an explosion of spices and textures and colors wrapped in a comforting pod of maize. The appetizers were splendid too, and to wash that off I recommend the Papelón con limón - although you won't be able to drink a regular lemonade after this treat.
A very small restaurant with delicious arepas and a good selection of options. The sides are good too. Prices are reasonable and service is friendly. The neighborhood is worth exploring as well.
It's a really small place so don't go there thinking you will stay for too long but it's so authentic and beautiful. The food was so great and it really made me feel like I was back home. They also have vegetarian options like tofu and not all of the arepas have meat in them so everyone can enjoy. The passion fruit mimosas were really refreshing. 👍👌
This place is amazing and the food is so tasty!! Great service and ambiance is very relaxed as well. It is a small restaurant so beware of having to wait. It’s worth it though!
Also, their sangria is really good!
The place is small but I think thats the reason I liked it so much, it's charming and the service is great. I'm venezuelan (born and raised) and I loved the food!! Didn't take pictures of the arepas tho ☹️
My favorite arepa spot. Vegetarian options delicious treats. Authentic feels like eating in your Aunt kitchen. Micheladas are great. Every bite of every arepa is delicious! Try a cocada for dessert!
