Cannot say enough good things about this place. One of our very favorite spots, which we visited three times on our trip. They serve the BEST hot pastrami on rye we had in the city, matzo ball soup that tastes exactly like my grandma's, and incredible breakfasts. This place is an institution, and the atmosphere is as addictive as the food.

Really good sandwiches, service and it had a lively and energetic vibe to the place. I had a turkey club sandwich while my wife had an egg salad sandwich. You could notice a few tourists but mostly locals catching up and few office going people having lunch.

Classic diner with sandwiches and Jewish classics like matzo ball soup. Bar seats are a tough fight but get much easier to land if you come alone. S&P regular was tasty and a great lunch option.

Eisenberg's, now known as S&P, is a NYC tradition since 1928. Here's the drill: you sit at the counter amid total chaos and the "counterman" takes your order and hands you your food. Don't sit in back at a table; that's boring. Today we split a Flatiron sandwich (wonderful, real turkey, cole slaw and Swiss cheese with Russian dressing on great rye bread) and an egg salad on white bread with lettuce, an egg cream and 2 soft drinks. And of course the sandwiches came with a huge dill pickle. Everything was really delicious. The best part is when you are done, you just walk up to the cashier and tell her what you had and she tells you what you owe. No check....just tell her what you had. Who does that?! It you don't mind a bit of NYC chaos, this is a classic.

An amazing dining experience! Friendly and courteous atmosphere. Our server, Bella, was so knowledgeable and recommended great sandwiches. The milkshake was my favorite and the Cutlet sandwich is a must have. Overall, a really good meal with a touch of a vintage restaurant. A must try!

Came here for lunch and was met with a crowd. The food tasted wonderful (I recommend the Reuben), but the service is done in super cheap plates and utensils, and the dining area is super cramped. I recommend calling in the order and taking it to go across the street at the park.

Amazing pastrami Sandwich! It was delicious. I ordered the Ruben pastrami Sandwich and my husband ordered the cheese burger which was delicious as well. Our food was made by Jesús. He was nice and friendly. We enjoyed the conversation we had with him. If we come back to NY, we would like ti visita this restaurant again.

If a restaurant has been serving food for over 90 years, you can be sure it will be on my Try List. Eisenberg’s was on that list for my NYC trip and my partner and I stopped by for breakfast. We walked over at about 1040a and we’re quickly seated. There was no line at this time and ample seating. As soon as we were seated, a young, curly-headed guy with glasses quickly served us waters and took our order. My partner ordered: - pancakes - fries I ordered: - pancakes - potatoes - soft scrambled eggs - pastrami I gave the included potatoes to my partner since I’m not a fan of them. My eggs + pastrami were perfectly cooked and delicious. The pancakes were interesting - I’m assuming they use a secret batter mix because the pancakes were unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Still, they were pretty good but did have an “interesting” after taste. You may be asking at this point, “why the 4 stars if the food was good?” Well, my partner hated his food. The potatoes were over cooked and the fries were extremely hard. He was pretty unhappy with his meal as a whole. While I would return, he definitely would not. With that said, I highly recommend this spot but would caution you to avoid the potatoes.

We got in line when it was out the door but we’re seated in a little less than 30 minutes. We got the Matzah ball soup, and Reuben Sandwiches. Best Reuben in NYC, free. The atmosphere is lively and friendly and the staff were really nice. This is the kind of place you can go to, get a good meal, and some good conversation for a really good price. Also their carrot cake good af
