Underwest Donuts

I had the maple waffle donut and the chocolate ice cream. The chocolate ice cream was actually phenomenal. The maple waffle donut was also super good, but compared to the ice cream, underperformed. It's kind of funny that the ice cream was what was impressive since this is a DONUT shop, but nevertheless. It's in a car wash, which is sort of strange - there's limited seating, so not really intended for big groups. Lastly, the staff there was super nice!

Found this place by accident a few years ago, but it is home to my favorite cake donuts in the city. (Stop by Dough for the best yeast donuts.) Underwent wins points for creative location... Wedged into a car wash, auto care store... But the donuts are fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. The Maple Bacon Waffle is awesome and anything covered in chocolate is also a win.

Weird: donuts at a car wash but hey, it’s NYC, we have to conserve space! The donuts are good & fresh but on the smaller side and overpriced so only 3 stars. The “Car Wash” donut is good, with just a hint of lavender which makes you feel like your being adventurous even when you really are not. The Dark Chocolate is very good- almost excellent. Other flavors include but are not limited to: Maple Waffle, Halva, and Coconut Lime, Cinnamon, and Plain. Check them out next time you’re at the Intrepid Museum.

I heard about this place from other foodie friends. Not a wide selection of Donuts, but they were good. A little gritty, but well made. Hard to find inside a car wash, but that's part of the allure. Small space. Reasonably priced. Credit cards accepted. We will definitely be going back. Thank you to the owner for responding. You have a great and unique place. First, we had the Celebration Donut, which was funfetti cake, dipped in chocolate with lots of fun sprinkles, plus some cotton candy in the middle. This cake donut was amazing but also really filling. It was such a fun surprise because we saw the chocolate, and then we bit into it and saw the funfetti cake and freaked out. It seriously just puts a smile on your face. Everything should have colorful sprinkles and funfetti because it just makes you happy. Second, we had the Mulled Cider Donut. It smelled so good and tasted like straight-up Thanksgiving with a strong nutmeg flavor. All of Underwest's donuts have a consistent texture, where it sort of melts in your mouth. Sometimes we like it and sometimes we don't , but it works well with the Mulled Cider flavor. It kind of creates a little bit of film on the roof of your mouth, which is sometimes unfortunate.
