The oldest continuously operating church in North America. It’s spectacular beautiful. Services were wonderful when we visited. 5 pm mass on Saturday evening wasn’t crowded. Oh, and the pipe organ is beautiful too.

In town for the week and was glad I was able to attend Mass at 9am on Sunday. This Cathedral is huge, beautiful and historical. Beautiful landscapes outside facing the Mississippi River. Enjoyed Mass here today, felt like one of the churches I grew up in New York (Blessed Sacrament). Definitely recommend stopping by even if it’s not for Mass. I believe the church is over 200 years.

St. Louis is the oldest cathedral in North America and is worth seeing for that reason alone. It’s a beautiful old church in a picturesque area of New Orleans and won’t cost you anything to stop in to at least take a peek. Peaceful in the morning before the Jackson Square area gets busy.

This is a beautiful functioning catholic cathedral. It has a gorgeous mural on the ceiling with impressive painted/ stained glass along the sides. Please maintain reverence as you visit. The history is about as old as any church you'll find in the Americas.

I’m glad we were able to stop in and take in the significance and history of this cathedral. We got to go inside during the day and it was also great seeing it at night.

A beautiful, sacred space. Nestled peacefully in the heart of the French Quarter lies the Cathedral Basilica, which honors the French King IX. The statuary and windows are quite unique. Above the altar stands Hope, Faith, and Charity. Light streams in through scenes from the saintly king’s life. On the ceiling, beautiful images of the Nativity and Peter receiving the keys, as well as the Apostles. The liturgy we were present for was great (and the Sunday 9:00 Mass is broadcast on TV). There is also a powerful image of St. Francis receiving the Stigmata. A great visit for the faithful, appreciators of beautiful art, and all things French.

My husband and I were in New Orleans during the holy week. I have always wanted to visit the Cathedral. It has always been synonymous with the city. I love the open door policy. You may come in and take pictures. It is breathtaking!!! I was fortunate enough to attend Easter services. There is a lovely gift store where you can purchase rosaries, crosses and other religious items.
