This is a wonderful place to come eat. You want to try Asian Cuisine than this place is for you. They have great seating , and a Bar.
We were greeted right away. And we were allowed to pick were we wanted to sit down. The wait staff were very friendly and service was very fast.
The food was hot and super tasty. We had the sampler platter for 2. Also fried pot stickers. It was enough for for 3 to have a light lunch. But the menu looked so good I almost ordered a bigger plate.
We were visiting from Texas for our son goes to college here. We will definitely come back.
Also when you come here it is limited parking. China orchid has some spots for there restaurant you don't have to pay. But if you are parking any 9thet place you will need to pay at kiosk by the street. It's min 30 mins for $1.40 and for 1hr 20 mins it was $2.30 . Not bad for parking.

I loved this restaurant because the people were great, the food was tasty and the music was modern Chinese.
I would
Come here any time.

I came to visit New Orleans from Houston recently. I had enjoyed quite a few authentic Chinese restaurants in Houston, but I did not expect to find that many good Chinese restaurants in New Orleans until I found my luck here. The food was super delicious and fancy that satisfied my palate. The service was also excellent. I really enjoyed it and plan to come back every time I revisit the city.

If you're looking for great Chinese food at a reasonable price you'll love this place. Some friends and I ate here today and love it. I read all the reviews and I'm pleased to say IT'S ALL TRUE!!!
We had Susan as our server and she exuded excellent service. Her drinks were made to perfection and served along with a perfect smile. The food was perfect and we can't repeat that enough. The location true is in a strip mall, but it's a very nice and comfy place.
Here are some pics of the food we ordered and I hope this review sends more natives or visitors to this location.
1. General Tso's Chicken with shrimp fried rice and egg roll...
2. Seafood Hot Pot...
3. Grilled Shrimp...

Interior of China Orchid has been totally redone. The new owner is bring a fresh feel to this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and they welcome suggestions that may improve your experience here. If you have been here before you will notice the changes inside immediately. I'm looking forward to the menu changes they are planning.
Highly recommend and will be a regular at this restaurant.
Come and enjoy.

Sophia and Gene were
excellent. If you are in the French quarter take the St. Charles trolley to riverbend. Its worth the scenic ride. The service is better than most places in the French quarter. The food and drinks are excellent.

Always a great dining experience, on this recent visit we ordered a large variety of dishes from soups to main courses. Everything arrived perfectly prepared. If you've never given them a try you're missing out on one of the true gems in the area. A+++

The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The service was also nice. It's been years since I have been here, and from I can remember they have not missed a beat.

Just ate here for the first time and everything was great. I had the Mongolian Beef and my wife had the Vegetable Eggfoo Yung and we will definitely recommend them, and return.

I ordered online, and the website told me that the food would arrive in 30-45 minutes. Someone then called and told me that the delivery would take between 45 minutes and an hour and 10 minutes. When an hour and 20 minutes had passed, I called to check on the order and was informed that the driver had left with the orders. I asked how long it should take and if the driver had a lot of orders to deliver and she couldn't tell me. The driver could have walked it to my house in less than 30 minutes. After two hours and still no food, I called again and told the woman that I wanted to cancel the order. I asked to speak with a manager and she told me that there wasn't one in the restaurant. She told me that the only people in charge who were there didn't speak English, so I was only able to speak with server about it. Never again.

We don't live in New Orleans and were there to celebrate New Year's. This happened right on the first day of 2016. Hence I am going to call it our WORST experience ever! Our server (woman named Kim) literally showed her disgust & racist attitude while serving us food. We addressed her awful attitude by not tipping & guess what? She came outside the restaurant to fight with us, screaming why didn't we tip her!!

Right from telling us the cost of that chili sauce to almost sending us back to India, she did everything she could! Some of her lines (verbatim):

1. "We don't work for free. You should've tipped." (You get your salary. I am not responsible if you're not getting paid. If you wanted your tip, you should've treated us with respect.)

2. "The sauce costs $2..you could get it from a store" (when we politely requested her to get some chili sauce for us so that we could take it with our leftover boxed food). If she couldn't get it, she should've said no. Why all this rubbish?!!

3. "This is America. This is not India. You tip here." (Yes I agree this is America & we tip when we are happy with the service! Nobody can take our money for nothing.)

4. "Don't come back here to eat." (Fine by me.. I am not even visiting New Orleans again.)

I give a damn about their food if this is the kind of service they dish out! If I treat someone with respect, I expect the same. We didn't raise our voice or said anything mean/rude while this woman didn't stop at anything. HORRIBLE!!

They don't deliver to the Hyatt Hotel... 4 miles away? Lame

Good neighborhood Chinese. It's consistently very good, though not exceptional. Sauces and dishes are what you would expect. Any of their chicken dishes (white meat only) are a cut above.

Awesome food, HUGE portions, and they deliver. Read the whole review:
I ordered my dinner (Hot & Sour Soup, Crab Rangoons, and Beef Fried Rice) through their online ordering system at about 7:45PM. I called to check on it at 8:30PM and my order had not gone through. It was a technology error so not a big deal. The lady was very apologetic, took my order, and my food arrived at 9:09PM. Which to me is not bad at all! Next time when I place an online order I will call to confirm or just call in my order, not a big deal at all.

Food: let me just say that the portions are HUGE! My order came to $18 and I could easily make 3-4 meals out of what I ordered and be completely full every time. The rangoons were very large, the fried rice was packed to the top of the container to the point where it could barely shut, and the soup was flowing over the top of the bowl. Well worth the wait and the price. Overall everything arrived hot and tasted freshly made. Nothing tasted frozen or commerical. All my dishes had a lot of flavor and were made with quality ingredients.

Crab Rangoons: They arrived still hot and crispy. They came with 2 different sauces to dip in a sweet and sour sauce which was very fresh and had a lot of flavor, and a mustard sauce which I did not try because I hate mustard in all its forms but it did smell very good.

Hot and Sour Soup: This was very different than that Hot & Sour soups that I have had in the past, but it was one of the best that I have ever eaten. It arrived hot (even the crunchy noodles were hot) and had so much flavor! The broth was rich and it really hit the spot after being sick for a few days.

Beef Fried Rice: I cannot say enough how fresh and good this was. Like my other dishes, it arrived piping hot. The beef was tender and not fatty or chewy at all. I was actually shocked at how good the meat was. Some fried rice can be dry and flavorless, this was very moist and packed with flavor pieces of green onion and egg. It did not taste frozen, greasy, or "commercial" at all.

HORRID Customer Service/Delivery. The food was okay as far as Chinese food goes. Just okay.

However, I ordered my meal online, and it took over an hour and a half for it to be delivered. I had to call China Orchid 3 times to even receive my food:

The first time that I called (45 minutes after ordering) they said that my order was on the way. The second time I called (over an hour after ordering) they said that I should be getting my food soon. Fed up after over an hour and a half, I called YET AGAIN and requested that they either make my food fresh and send it with a new driver or get the driver to call me for directions (it was required to provide my phone number when I placed my order).

This is absolutely ridiculous, and I will NEVER order from China Orchid again. If you want your food to arrive on time (much less ever), don't order from China Orchid.

An hour, 45 for delivery. I cannot comment on the quality of the meal I ordered. I placed the order at 7:05pm on a Tuesday and was told it would take 40-50 minutes for the delivery. My home and the restaurant are 4 blocks apart. I phoned again when 1 hour had passed and was told he would be at my front door in a moment. I phoned again an hour and a half had passed. At this time I was told that the driver had 6 orders in his car and that was the reason it was taking so long. I know that delivery is not as hot and pristine as something you eat in the restaurant, but I wonder just what temperature the food is going to be when you are the 6th person on the delivery list, as I apparently was. I phoned again at 8:40pm to cancel the order. The doorbell rang 8 minutes later.

Meh.. The first time we went I thought I may have just ordered the wrong thing. The second time I realized, it's not me, it's them. It's a pretty restaurant - very clean and nicely decorated. The staff is friendly and service is fast. But the food...eh. Not flavorful. Not rich. Not bad. Just...boring. Five Happiness and Hoshun are both way better.

I'm not the biggest fan of Chinese food, but my fiancé always wants it. I gave in, and I have to say, I was very impressed. We got takeout so I can really only speak to their food quality. The fried rice was fantastic! I'm not sure how one can make fried rice taste fresh, but they did. I also liked the chicken enough to save my leftovers and eat it again, and given my general dislike of Chinese food, that's really saying something.

Pretty good for American Chinese food. Absolute awesome eggdrop soup. A must try. Not too bad on the pocket book. Delivery not the fastest, but it's free.

Bad Chinese food, but comfortable. Tried this for the first time on Friday. Got one of the house specialities, with shrimp, chicken and beef. The service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was very comfortable, probably the best atmosphere of any Chinese restaurant in NOLA.

But the food was bad. It tasted okay going down, but I did not feel well after eating it. I would not recommend the restaurant based on my one trip here, but at least the building is nice, clean and comfortable.

BEST CHINESE FOOD IN NOLA. I'm from New Orleans, born and raised. I've lived in Metairie, on the westbank, and uptown. I've eaten at just about EVERY chinese food place in the greater New Orleans area, and this place is the best, hands down. I went to Loyola for college before Katrina.. and I was a take out regular. I came back for the first time 5 years later, and one of the owners (slender middle aged asian woman) said, " WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" This place has the best food, best prices, and best service in the city. HANDS DOWN. Five Happiness is a joke compared to this place

Horrible service. I ate dinner there last night , Feb. 15. Service was extremely slow. Asked to be moved to a booth after we placed our order. We were sitting at a small table between 2 other closely placed tables. Waited for our drinks (ice tea and water). Didn't get this until 15 minutes after placing our order. Waited for our appetizer of crab ragoons. 3 tables who came after us already had their appetizers and 2 of those tables had their entrees. Our appetizer came 35 minutes later. Had to go to the bar to get my own lemons for my ice tea. No one stopped to ask us how we were doing/if we needed anything/or given us reason why our food had not arrived after 51 minutes. After the third table (who arrived after us) was given their entrees I told the watress to forget the entrees. I wanted to leave. She asks me to stay saying because of mixed up tables we didn't get our food on time. Hard to believe when at one time our ticket was the only one up to cook before the other three tables came in. I'm just appalled at this service. Food was warm(maybe was sitting out for a while) and the ragoons tasted like they were frozen and microwaved. Horrible food and horrible service. Beware! Dont' waste your money on this dive.

Bang for the Buck. Good service, large portions and tasty, spicey chinese cooking. This is a great local chinese spot that will fill your stomach without emptying your wallet. Good hot and sour soup and the best combination fried rice in town.

Big portions. It was back in 2006 that I ate at this Chinese place (once dine-in, and once takeout with a friend). The portions were very large, but I found other places I gravitate too.

Good parking in a cool spot of Carrollton (uptown), though its in a horrible strip mall (setback and all).

Awesome Chinese with a great atmosphere!

Good Neighborhood Place for Chinese. Sure it's not some Chinese restaurant you'll find in New York or San Francisco. But, for a place right around the corner from my house, it's pretty good. Plus, they have a good lunch combo and great service.
