I visited here on 11/29 and was immediately greeted by a pleasant gentleman . I ordered red beans and rice, which was a favorite of mine since I was young, My mom would not only cook this dinner on Mondays, but anytime she needed that break from the kitchen.
My mom passed away in 2003, and even though I know how to make it, I never felt it was as good as hers. The meal was delicious. The season was just right, and the rice was well cooked, As I sat there enjoying the meal, it brought back memories of me asking for my mom for seconds, and I smiled.
Thank you for a memorable meal.

Pub house style restaurant. Great taste of food. Smiling waiter and helpful for menu. Alligator was amazing on grill. Recommend place . Clean and hygiene rate 4🌟. Prices exceptional.

Me and my boyfriend are traveling from Arkansas to NOLA for the weekend and we decided that after hours of walking around the French Quarter to huddle down here to eat. We were the only ones inside, which for a Saturday night at 7 was pretty lucky. Our food and service came quick and ready. Our food was phenomenal. We decided on the New Orleans Sampler and man did we sample. The chicken and sausage gumbo was probably my favorite of all the dishes. The jumbalaya was the right amount of spicy(though I recommend adding the Lousiana's Pure Crystal Hot Sauce). The beans and the shrimp creole were also amazing, but we loved the gumbo and jumbalaya the most. Our waiter was also super helpful, where he even told us all the best local liquour stores haha! Loved it here!
Dana
Server / hostess was super friendly and took great care of us. The Mardi Gras pasta was AMAZING and so was the red beans and rice / gumbo combo (Gumbalaya). Will definitely make sure I stop here every time I come to NOLA.

Raw and grilled oysters, shrimp 🍤 jambalaya and air conditioning. Excellent New Orleans food. Walking the French Quarter with Flora Hoff . Life is all about memories.

good at all!!! i tried bloody mary for the first time and was a good experience with one of the most weird beverages… i liked it!

I've vacationed in NOLA several times, and the char-grilled oysters here are the absolute best. The restaurant doesn't look like much, but the location can't be beat. The staff is attentive and fun. The bartender, Emily, can make anything you want. The Catgory 5 hurricane helped me convince my husband to buy me cool street art from the vendors in Jackson Square.

James was awesome and oysters were like never before. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
James was working the room and so good at keeping up in service, sitting, and simply genuine.

Great place to grab some delicious, no fuss, French Quarter food. The employees were very friendly and the service was great! My Chargrilled oysters were the best I've ever had anywhere! And it's a great place to people watch along Jackson Square.
Sheila
The food was decent. I wouldn't recommend the shrimp Po boy. The shrimp was somehow gritty. The dessert fries were awesome.
The wait was only about 15 minutes for 3 of us. It's a decent less crowded restaurant to duck into when the rain hits.
Steven Kirchner
Massive amounts of sports team flags. Donald was a pleasure. Amazing service. Food presentation, delightful. Great bar. Even better food.
Carrie Columbus
Looking for a good/quick lunch and were very happy here... they grilled my turkey before assembling my club sandwich. It's the little things that I appreciate. The French fries were perfect and great service. We got the club a burger, and a Southern Belle.

We stopped in for an early dinner and Tina F was our waitress, she was very friendly and gave great menu suggest. I had the belini and my boyfriend had the mint Julip the drink. We started off with the Decatur gator and crawfish & crab cakes as apps. Both were amazing. The gator was so good we actually order a second plate. For dinner I had the chicken Alfredo. The breading on the chicken didn't have much flavor, but the Alfredo made up for it. My boyfriend had the Seafood jambalaya and said it was really good. I am sure we'll hit this place up again before we leave.

We liked this place so much we came back twice during our 4 days here. It was hard to choose what to get since everything looks so good. One of the nice things about this place is that it's on the parade routes so if you are sitting and eating before hand you can get cans of beer so go.

Great food, wonderful service. Some of the best oysters I’ve had in New Orleans. The fried oysters on the oyster poboys were so good we had to order a oyster platter to share. Fried oysters are amazing. A+

I will never visit this restaurant again. Service was horrible and they weren’t busy at all. My friends and i sat and watched 4 maybe 5 tables who were seated after us receive their meals before us. It took 30 minutes for our appetizer to arrive. Half dozen order of chargrilled oysters and spinach dip. Almost another 15-20 minutes and still no entree. All i ordered to eat was a cup of gumbo and House salad that NEVER ARRIVED. When i asked the manager about our order he was very rude and didn’t even offer to assist or fix the problem just asked if wanted to cancel my order. Very rude and to be honest i feel like it had to do with our race. But i wont get into that. I will never come back and the oysters were mediocre

We were seated quickly but it took a while to see our waiter. We ordered a appetizer and entrée. One minute after the appetizer arrived the entrée arrived. Which was shoved onto our table. Waiter never offered to keep the food hot for us while we completed our appetizer even after I complained about that. Overall the food was good but the service was only OK. Probably would not go back again

The very first time we went the charbroiled oysters were the best we have ever had! We returned several months later and they were good . Yesterday was a total disappointment!!!! The service was extremely slow and when the waitress finally brought our oysters some of them were burnt! We ordered two dozen and she brought out just one dozen and told us the cook burnt the others and she would bring out the others later! Both dozen were way over cooked and dried out! Awful ! We won’t go back! When you pay two dollars an oyster they should be delicious!
Tommy Ducote
Been there many times, usually great. Last night, staff was terrible, food was horrible and wanted oysters and they used the excuse the kitchen was having trouble melting the butter. 2 hrs later got some of the food.
Lula Mae Fenstermacher Gonnelli
Nasty restrooms and poor service waitress seemed like it was a big deal to get us creamer or napkins Manager did nothing about it food was decent that was it
Stephan Owens
It says breakfast served all day and that’s what we went there for and we’re then told they weren’t serving breakfast. The lunch menu was all right but they Might want to take that they serve breakfast all day off the sign then
Mary Rozann
Didn't eat here, just went in for to-go drinks. Service was okay, took a few for the bartender to notice me. However, the drinks were fantastic! Id recommend the Voodoo Brew, Southern Belle or Hurricane! A little pricey but most places are in the French Quarter.
Gretchen Bush
The gator appetizer was amazing and our waiter was a delight ! Also the muffuletta was definitely satisfying
Amber Hardy Kirchoff
This place was great!! Walked in awesome live music , real New Orleans music at that!! Fun time was definitely had!!
Wesley Mitchell
Very poor service and my drink cup was covered in some liquid with seasoning. It took forever to get our food. Not to mention it is way overpriced even for the Quarter.

I grew up in Shreveport and have traveled to NO so many many yimee over the years..I’m never ever disappointed...the food and service was excellent...the pecan pie was an orgasm to be repeated!
Thanks y’all
Miriam Skwiot
The food was ok, but it took 45 minutes to get our breakfast (bacon and eggs).
Bob Allgood
Ate here twice it was so good !! Red beans and rice were the bomb!! Great service!! Great location !!! Great food!!!
Sophie Brandon Roberts
Stopped here to get a Bloody Mary and tried some of their raw oysters. Was pretty good...very touristy!

Horrible. Only restaurant I’ve ever been to that makes you tell the server how much you are tipping before you pay. They messed up our order seven times. Brought us food that wasn’t ours and charged us for it even when we sent it back. DO NOT EAT HERE.

I usually check ratings when I travel and get a plan together as to where I am going for my meals. Today, I wandered around the Jackson square area for awhile, and on a whim went into The Corner. I sat down and ordered a water. I verified with the server that the water was bottled, because the city is on a Boil Water Advisory. She said yes and brought me a bottle of water. Others around the restaurant had tap water in their glasses, which was interesting considering the advisory (been in affect since about 9am). I opened up Zomato while I was waiting and saw that this place had a 2.1 rating. It's literally the lowest rated place in the square. I should have left then, but I didn't. I ordered a cup of gumbo, which was salty and not good at all. The server was nice, and I think that was the only reason I didn't leave right away.

Visiting from Washington state. Ordered grilled oysters for $20 they were so burned you could not even scrape most of the oyster out of the shell with a knife, my girlfriend ordered jambalaya there was 1 or 2 small pieces of chicken, no sign of any sausage. We ate at aprox. 25 different restaurants(all of which I would rate 4-5 stars) during our vacation, this place by far was the worst, I would not give it 1/2 a star. No wonder it was nearly empty on a Friday night. Please don't waste your money at this place.

Visiting From Illinois. Location was convenient at the time; across from Jackson Park. for a 2:00 lunch. Our server was nice enough, but spent too much time in the kitchen talking to his buddies, as we could see. The food was uneventful. My Jambalaya was OK, but I could probably get it better back in central Illinois. This was a humongous pile of rice with a few chunks of chicken and sausage hidden amongst it. My wife's Club sandwich came in a basket covered in large fries, which were tasteless. $11 and $12 respectively. Understandable for the location, I guess, but I know there are better places.

Visit left a bad taste. I took my mother down to New Orleans for the night. She hadn't been in the city since her honeymoon in 73. We walked into the restaurant around 7:30PM with no lines and several empty tables. I asked the hostess if she had a table for my mother and I and that I would like to buy a drink. Once we sat, we were greeted by "Zach" who after finding out that we didn't want food told us that tables were for guests ordering food only. No problem...I asked "Zack" if he would ring up 2 hurricanes and that we would be on our way. He brought the drinks, I paid for them and we were on our way. Too bad they didn't have any alcohol in them. I didn't complain to the restaurant staff but we voted with our pocketbook.

Enjoyable Afternoon. The bartender, Stephanie, was awesome. Beer was cold, Margaritas were quite tasty. My husband enjoyed the Gumbo and I enjoyed blackened ribs. Last Friday was an enjoyable rainy afternoon in the French Quarter thanks to Stephanie's hospitality!
Sean Reeves
The service was great... The food was average, at best. Not worth the "tourist" dollars they charge...
Emily_b80
Don't waste your money. Food was disgusting and overpriced. Shrimp nachos were worse than gas station nachos. Blackened chicken alfredo was far from being alfredo and the chicken was deep fried and covered in grease. Drinks were way overpriced for what they were. The server never attempted to make anything right or apologize for the fact that we spent $65 on a meal we didn't even eat. DON'T GO HERE!!!
Tom
01/14/14 Terrible. This place is not even close to calling itself a "Oyster House'. I don't need to be specific there are enough bad reviews about this place. This is the second time we have been here and it was even worse than the last time. We are local. Don't waste your time or money. At 5:00 PM on a Tues the place was deserted maybe management should ask themselves why. A tourist trap..yep. Bad food ...Yep....Non existent service....yep...Overpriced...oh yea! ....should i go on ???
Steve Johnston
The owners are the rudest people ever. I can't believe their still in business
Sarah
Went for breakfast. Food was ok. Prices were ridiculous. All the servers just stood around staring. You have to pay extra for everything. Just wasn't a great place at all.

Worst Restaurant in New Orleans. Question: How can you screw up breakfast? Answer: Ask the staff at Corner Oyster Bar & Grill. The eggs were gray and tasteless, the bacon soggy, grits were cold and lumpy and you only get one piece of toast. The food presented was very unappealing. The waitress asked how everything was and I told her NOT GOOD. We should have gotten the hint when it took almost 20 minutes to be served and there was not even a crowd in the place. Patrons were leaving because of the poor service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! They are overpriced and automatically adds gratuity. If you see Corner Oyster while strolling through the French Quarter, RUN AWAY!!!!!
Kk1murphy
WORST service ever. From out of town and stopped in to watch a baseball game. Manager was rude server was unbelievable. I suggest going a few blocks down and trying coops. They were much more customer friendly! Will never be back.
Abby Cagle
Disappointing. My boyfriend and I stopped by here yesterday, which was a Sunday. Sundays, for me, are designated for bloody marys. So naturally, I ordered one as soon as we arrived. My bloody mary was disgusting; it was watered-down and practically flavorless.

Next, we shared the oyster and artichoke soup. This was the highlight of our visit because It was creamy and perfect. No salt and pepper needed, best when loaded on a cracker.

Then, I ordered the stuffed crabs. The only crab I witnessed on my platter were the shells in which the stuffing was stuffed. I'm confident even Sherlock Holmes couldn't have detected a lick of crabmeat.

Lastly, we were charged a gratuity on our party of two! Our server, Sharline, was unfriendly and unattentive. I used to be a server, so I'm typically generous when it comes to tipping, but I would have tipped Sharline a maximum of $4.00 and called it a day.

We'll NEVER eat here again!
Drew Stevenson
Don't waste your time or money..i would give it a one star for food, service was poor.
Jay
Dirtiest raw oysters I have eaten. Will avoid in the future.
David
Food was ok not anything to go out of the way for. Service was Horible and the tip is automatically included so there is no need for them to have good customer service! Ate at the last minute and didnt read reviews.
Maribeth Lynch
We will be bac k again. The food was very good and plenty for the price. Service was good. We were a group of 10 people getting there by lunch time and we were served pretty quickly. The Shrimp Creole was very good. I'll be back here anytime in New Orleans.
Fritz Gautschi
Good food, nice people. Nice place to eat authentic creole food. We stopped in and had a great time. Food was great and people were friendly.
Roberta Amon
Loved it. The courses were fabulous and service was fantastic. We tell all of our friends how we savored each bite and encourage them to try it. We are looking forward to our next visit there. It will always be one of our first choice places to go.
Leib
Good place. We ate here a couple of times during our stay in New Orleans and the food is truly excellent. Portions are generous to say the least and the waitress service is great. A good place to take in a football game and enjoy good food. Will definitely be back when next in the crescent city!
Cecille Villacorta
Enjoyed the place!. Watched the tail end of the late games on a Sunday afternoon. Terrific atmosphere. I had the "voodoo brew" which was good ! Ordered the wings and the seafood platter. The food was very good . I thought it was a fun place to hang out.
Bee
Horrible horrible service! Took 20 minutes for somebody to ask us what we would like to drink and that's only because I stopped one of the 4 waitresses that kept walkin by us without acknowledging us! Took another 15 minutes to get the drinks because the hostess got yet another waitress to take our drink order. We had a 8 yr old with us who was hungry and that is the only reason why we didn't leave!! I just couldn't believe how every waitress walked by us numerous times and didn't show us any kind of customer service!!!!! It was my first time in New Orleans and when I go back I will never ever go back to this place!!!
Food Is Freedom
~ If you have any intelligence you will avoid this place like the plague. It's owned by two of the rudest yankees ever to migrate south, the food is disgusting and the drinks are watered down. Save your time and money.
Tassy
Like everyone else, I was in a hurry and didn't read urbanspoon... walked in b/c there wasn't a wait and it was near the plaza. MISTAKE! The service was horrible. Our waitress didn't know what she was serving us, and was confused on how to split the check. I tried my first shrimp po'boy and it was bad. There was no sauce on the sandwich, and the bread was dry and cold. I did research on these things and it seemed like it was suppose to be served on French bread. This wasn't, and I felt like this was something that they defrosted and served up.
Scruffle
Rip-off. Lousy food lousy service -- $7 for kids French toast that was literally just two pieces of bread with powdered sugar. Ordered the Louisiana omelette (supposed to have shrimp and crawfish) on recommendation of server, it came stone cold. Sent it back and got a ham omelette instead of the seafood omelette I ordered. At this point I'm too hungry to send it back a second time. The bloody Mary was fantastic til I got the bill, $10 for the most expensive drink I've ever had in NOLA. Overall damage was almost $40 for small portions, awful service. Then the girl got mad when I stiffed her for a tip. I got up and handed her 13 cents. Wish I'd read the reviews on Urbanspoon first. Hands down the worst, most expensive food I've ever had in Louisiana.
Eat Well
HORRIBLE FOOD!. KEEP WALKING past this place! Please read this and believe me when I tell you that almost ANY other place in the Quarter will be better than this dump. I was there on Mardi Gras day and it wasn't busy at lunch (should have been a red flag) and I almost checked it on UrbanSpoon, but was in a rush. So, I ate there, but will never return again! I had the shrimp and oyster po' boy and seriously, I could have made a better one at home with frozen shrimp and oysters. It was terrible, hardly any seafood in it and not tasty at all. I paid $23 for a sandwich and beer that was not worth half that amount. Service was lackluster, but nowhere near as bad as the food.
Stitchinforalivin
Overpriced. Our meal was very overpriced and the quality was not up to true New Orleans standards. Had the jambalaya, rice was hard no shrimp just a few pieces of sausage. We also had shrimp bo-boys that had a decent amount of shrimp but it was loaded with more fixin's than shrimp. I would not return to this restaurant. Wish I saw the reviews before walking in.
DeAnna Verneau
Horrible in every way. Don't eat here. Bad food. Bad service. Gratuity is added in even though they should have paid US to eat there and you can't have it taken off your bill. Read the reviews before you eat here.
Timothy Hoke
Worst Customer Service. Yesterday, I sat at the bar at Corner Oyster and waited ten minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me. When she did, I requested a food menu and received a blue moon draft instead. When I corrected her she got snippy and slammed the beer in the garbage which splashed on my legs. Ten minutes later, I had someone take my order. I ordered an omelette and after thirty minutes I wondered where it was. I asked the bartender if she could check and she said it would be right out. Well, fifty-five minutes after ordering my food, still no omelette. I asked the bartender and was told my food will be out when it is ready. I told her that I know it doesn't take an hour to cook an omelette and that two tables that ordered after me was already eating. She argued with me about that and told me if I don't like it I could go elsewhere. I told her I wanted to speak to the manager and she said the manager was her husband and he won't give a damn. Im sure he doesn't know his inconsiderate wife costs his business money. So, I left and they tried to charge me foe a milk that I didn't even drink. Easily, the worst customer service I ever experienced.
Justin Huska
Treat yourself to the drink menu. I am going to go against the grain and say that I actually enjoyed my experience at this little dive. True, New Orleans is a bustling city with much to offer the culinary- savvy... but I found Corner Oyster Bar to be satisfactory enough. I was not expecting fine dining, and with those expectations, I received what I was wanting which was a large plate of deep- fried seafood.

My server was rough around the edges in all the right ways. Her crude attitude actually endeared my table to her, and she was very attentive to my party, joking about anything and everything.

I am going to go ahead and say that my favorite part of Corner Oyster's is the drink special menu. I found myself popping in several nights just to grab another Voodoo Juice or Frozen Lemonade. The staff was always friendly toward my guests and I would not hesitate to hit this bar up again when I am in the city.
Addy
Poor Service. My wife and I ate here tonight and she ordered the Louisiana pasta option, I had a fried oyster po-boy. Neither were remarkable. Service was poor, very poor. We were one of two occupied tables but the seven or eight staff were too intent on chatting amongst them selves to check on refills or how the food was. As said food was not remarkable and service very poor. 2 miller lite, 2 pink lemonade , pasta and po boy came to 42 bucks and some change. Will not go back
John Rovegno
Continually Bad. As an experienced visitor to the French Quarter I should have known better. I've learned to never eat here from previous visits but stopped in to kill some time and grab a drink while the girlfriend shopped at nearby Violet's. She loves this dress shop and it usually means an hour+ of downtime.

I ordered a simple Bombay Gin on the rocks. It came in one of those tacky clear solo cups. And it cost 7 dollars! I was not offered a menu (not that I would have accepted it) and the bartender never once came back to check on me. In fact, she spent her time eating a sandwich behind the counter...nasty.

Granted, they are probably on the busiest corner of Jackson Square and probably deal with tourist idiots all day long but everytime I've been here I've left completely disappointed (and this time slightly disgusted). It's probably my own fault I even went in.

Fortunately, the lady was very happy with her dress selections this year!

Read reviews before eating here!. Some of my friends and I decided to stop here for a bite to eat during Mardi Gras and I wish I would have seen all of these reviews before choosing to do so. Like many of the other reviews service was slow, as well as very apathetic to the complaint I had. My girlfriend ordered the jambalaya and being originally from New Orleans, I thought what seemed to be an authentic cajun restaurant would deliver well with this dish. How wrong I was! The jambalaya was more Italian inspired than anything. It was a red bed of rice that she got handed to her. Jambalaya is supposed to(and says on the menu) come with sausage chicken, etc. There were two (small) bit sized pieces of chicken included. I'm sorry but I will never recommend an $11 plate of rice to anyone.
Yolanda Salas
Yuk. Sign pulls you in for breakfast. Stay away it's expensive and they over cook scrambled eggs on the grill.
C
We ordered the 1/4 pound of shrimp. Clearly they had been frozen for a long time and were chalky and bland. We dug for better shrimp only to find all of them were in the same sorry condition. We complained to the waiter and got a shrug of shoulders. We complained to the manager at the end of the meal and were told that "working in the tourist industry he doesn't trust anyone"! AVOID AT THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS! It looks good but it isn't. Terrible food and the manager just wants your money!!!!!
Bchish2
WORST food EVER. The worst restaurant experience I have EVER had. The food was absolutely horrible. The service was just as bad. We sat there and was ignored for ten minutes before anyone even came to our table. And there was one other table there. The pizza is worse than grocery store frozen food. I would rather eat vomit than ever walk into this place again. I even said something to the manager and they just walked away.
John
Off night?. Must have been a off night reading these comments. Shrimp Creole was pretty good and spicy!
Arif Osmani
Avoid this place!!!!. Very bad experience, had dinner on a night with only 2 other customers. Ordered the catfish platter and blackened catfish. Portion was very small. We ordered cranberry soda water for the drink which was served in a kids plastic disposable cup. The drink was flat so we asked the server to change it and he said it will be the same so we got a coke instead. When we got the bill, they charged us for the flat cranberry soda water and coke. The manager refused to give us the credit which was $3.50. This is crazy, not a big deal, but the way this was handled was terrible. Couple that with the poor quality of food, this place should be avoided.
J-boy
Ate breakfast here - food was good, but the service was SLOW. Wanted to go to Cafe du Monde (nearby) but the line was too long - this was not a good alternative! Only come here if you are hungry (or desparate)!
Tricia Currie
Food was okay but a bit spicy for my taste. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Probably will try again.
Sam Is Hungry
Not impressed.. I had a Bloody Mary, Gumbo and a Shrimp Po-boy. I was not impressed with the Bloody Mary or the Po-boy. The Gumbo was actually really good. My friends had Paneed Chicken over Pasta and a Spicy Shrimp entrée. Both of those were really tasty. I just hate that my Shrimp Po-boy and drink was no good. The french fries weren't even cooked long enough. If I go back it will be for a bottled beer.
Jonathan Simm
Food was cold and service was slow. Did not charge us for most of meal. Do not go!
Ray Cannata
Tourist-oriented, standard menu. Corner of Jackson Square. This is one of those places, unique to the French Quarter in NOLA, that can only stay open because of gullible tourists. sports bar. Not much was of interest to me in the decor, menu, or presentation. Kind of bar found anywhere in America where they substitute expense and creativity with some random sports team flags and have the staff wear referee shirts. The food wasn't bad per se, I just got bored. COle slaw was diced fine. Stuffed crab was thoroughly cooked. If you are a tourist who is not familiar with jambalaya or gumbo, the genre is inherently interesting enough to make it a decent meal.
The prices: a tad high for a sports bar setting. It was the first place I have been in NOLA that will not give you tap water. Only bottled (so you pay for it). The iced tea was in small glasses. Then the gratuity is included on the bill. Some people may miss that and end up adding another 15-20% on top of the automatic tip.
Katy
They have some good eggrolls southwest style...yum

Half oyster half shrimp po'boy is delicious.
