I literally fight the urge to eat here for brunch every day. The struggle is real.
My personal favorites are the Shrimp and Grits, the Sweet Potato Bacon Benedict, and the berry pancakes (all three pictured)!
I've eaten both inside and outside of the restaurant. The music can be a bit on the louder side, but hey, c'est la vie. If it bothers you too much, you can request to sit outside and get the same level of service with a great view of Oak St.
Everything is made to order, so be prepared to wait for the food. This isn't a quick sit, eat, and go. You come here with friends and family to catch up, drink, and eat.
The Shrimp and Grits are creamy, spicy, and literally filled with so much shrimp.
The Benedict is what most surprised me. The flavors we're incredible. Sweet from the potato, savory from the bacon, a kick from the marinated tomato. A symphony.
And you literally can't go wrong with pancakes. The Chantilly cream paired with the berries is an absolute delight.
This place had one of the best breakfasts we had in our time in New Orleans. A neighborhood gem and a great find! We had their Hangover Grits and their Southern Benedict with biscuits, both incredible! Their hollandaise sauce was the best I've had in a long time. Their staff was great too and you can tell they take pride in what they do! Can't wait to go back!
Unbelievable food. Truly something everyone should taste, IT IS WORTH THE WAIT! but definitely be prepared because 1 lady is cooking for the whole restaurant. Be patient and enjoy.
Excellent brunch spot with some pretty rad live music! I'm never disappointed by the food, but be prepared to wait; they make everything fresh and it's worth it. Order a cocktail and enjoy the music and ambiance! I've eaten here several times, but I always go back to the herby and sweet strawberry basil pancakes and rich and decadent shrimp and grits. You legitimately can't go wrong either way. Honorable mention: Sweet potato Benedict. I'm not the biggest fan of sweet potatoes, so unfortunately can't give you much more than that! Enjoy a sweet time!
WORTH THE WAIT!!! We came here while visiting NOLA and the food was incredible. We had the shrimp and grits, tasted like cheesy creamy shrimp Alfredo heaven. The basil sandwich with bacon was great. Blueberry pancakes were so sweet and fluffy. 5 stars for a delicious breakfast, nice servers, and live music. Forgot to take a pic before I started eating cuz I was so excited.
Live Oak Cafe was perfect for breakfast and brunch. We came back the second day we were in the neighborhood because the food and service was just that good. We had the shrimp and grits, the very berry pancakes and the sweet potato eggs benedict. Everything was from scratch and you can tell. Definitely recommend.
This unassuming little spot has definitely earned its reputation! Good coffee, nice specials, consistent food, and fantastic local artwork with occasional live music come together for a perfect brunch experience. If you've never had them, the grits here are some of the best in the city! Check out the postcards and greeting cards from local artists too!
Amazing NOLA food and affordable. Live music is relaxing not obnoxious. Clean and unique style with clean colors. Local art displayed and for sale on the walls.
Super friendly staff! The food was delicious and fast with great prices. This cafe also gives a great cozy atmosphere. Pictured is their Huevos Rancheros.
Excellent food with local flavor and ambiance. Great Bloody Mary's, Pancakes, Waffles and all the breakfast favorites with a twist, accompanied by talantrd local musicians and a great wait staff. Definitely wprth a stop just off the beaten track on your Garden District Trolley Car Walk in the Carrollton Neighborhood.
