5 stars does not come close to how amazing Avery's restaurant is. Nothing on the menu is bad, everything is so good. My favorite dish is the Seafood gumbo, it honestly is the best gumbo I have ever had. It was voted best in New Orleans for a reason!!! They do a fabulous breakfast and brunch and OMG the honey biscuits. When my family comes in to town, Avery's is the first place they have to eat. Do yourself a favor and try Avery's, it is a hidden gem!

Came to the New Orleans for three reasons. 1: Pick up Grand Nieces to take home to their Daddy. 2: See my old work place at 4400 Dauphine Street. Sad to see the facility has not recovered since 05. 3: Eat a shrimp PoBoy as good as we remember them from 1993. I searched the reviews for several eateries and settled on Averys. It was not as good as 1993, It was a whole lot better. Taste was magnificent. Seafood gumbo was better than any I tasted during the early 90's and I had gumbo from locals and the top restaurants. The fried potato salad was a real treat. This place is true NOLA. Fast, friendly, and food to satisfy any palate. I also purchased 8 PoBoys to take home to Kissimmee , if they make the trip.

An essential New Orleans po' boy shop, that I have returned to a few times since I first went last month. I've tried the fried potato salad (!), fried shrimp, BBQ shrimp, roast beef, and oysters Rockefeller and all have been excellent. Wonderful customer service. Love this place!

Small place, if it were closer to the Quarter they would be packed.... I have never been impressed with most of the places in the quarter and this would be a breath of fresh air.
I ordered the New Orleans BBQ'ed shrimp Po-boy and the flavor was right on. It was so yummy I almost wanted to stuff a second one in my stomach. The fries were great too. This is a sandwich I will dream about.

Ever since I got arrested on Lundi Gras oh-so many years ago, I sort of dread being anywhere near the ominous courthouse at the Broad and Tulane intersection. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) it seems that I need to get over that particular bad taste in my mouth, because there are too many good tastes to be had (and man more to come) in this growing corridor. A little while back, I sucked it up and took John to lunch at Avery's on Tulane, a po-boy spot that I discovered from a visitor our fair city who regaled a tale about an incredible roast beef. I simply had to go find out for myself, after all -- what would a tourist know about roast beef po-boys? Apparently, he knew a lot...

Great Roast Beef!. The staff was super friendly, and the po-boy had a combination of flavor and shredded texture that was about as good as it gets. They will even add extra gravy, in order to serve a sandwich for those who don't like it messy. Lots of clever combinations, and friendly staff.

Red beans better than my mamma. Shockingly inventive (vegan dishes!) considering the locale. So friendly. Debris is pretty stellar too.

Best Poboys in Nola. I'm a huge poboy fan, and Avery's by far is my favorite poboy shop. The seafood is fresh, and the price are good. I recommend the oysters rockefeller poboy and the buffalo shrimp poboy.

Build Your Own Peacemaker. Mine was Roast Beef & Oyster and I can see why Avery's is tops in popularity - huge oysters and nothing wrong with a little gravy on one oyster. Great to see Avery's helping Tulane Avenue make a comeback. Note their posted hours, currently M-S lunch.

Justin and Christy are the best.. So we arrived in NOLA by train on a Monday afternoon. We had planned to visit a competitor but found it closed at 3pm. A quick check of a similar foodie website found Avery's. When we arrived, I had to run in the front door and ask for advice on parking because i didn't want to start our trip to NOLA with a visit to the impound lot. Justin met me at the counter and told me about the parking out back, directed me there and promised to meet me at the back door. Once parked he welcomed all seven of us in. Christy came to our table, and took our orders. We wanted to try everything and she made excellent suggestions. The Oysters Rockefeller were excellent and we could have made a meal of just that. Our orders included Shrimp PoBoys, Half and Half plates with Buffalo Shrimp and Oysters, and Gumbo. Every item tasted fresh, was perfectly seasoned and truly satisfied. Christy kept the perfect balance of table side chat and privacy that made us comfortable and at home but not imposed upon. The PoBoy bread was the perfect crispy and light variety. A complimentary order of Honey Biscuits left us stuffed. We enjoyed the local art on the walls and left with a souvenir painting and a complimentary three foot long loaf of the bread. Justin and Christy have managed to accomplish what few have by impressing my mother and earning her patronage on our next visit to NOLA.
Thank you guys for staying late and taking care of my family.

We came into NO from Memphis late afternoon. We wanted good poboys at reasonable prices. The owners were fabulous & could not have been more gracious. They had us try the oysters Rockefeller dip & fried potato salad balls... Yummmm!! The Seafood Gumbo was increadibly rick & hearty!! You can't go wrong w Avery's! We will definitely dine w them again when visiting "The Crescent City"

Quite impressed. Came in at kind of a slow time, around 2:45, right as they were beginning to close. Ordered a small buffalo shrimp with blue cheese to go. I was really impressed with the sandwich. Was obviously on Leidenheimer bread, as it should be. The shrimp were very well cooked. Some po-boy shops put in too many shrimp, some put in too few. This was just right. If I had one quibble about the sandwich, it would be that I was expecting the buffalo shrimp to be a little saucier and spicier. It was a really, really good sandwich though.

The surroundings are Spartan, but it fits in with the character of the neighborhood. I would definitely recommend Avery's.

Do yourself a favor and get the red beans the side is $4 or dinner sized with sausage for 10.75. I literally dream of their food. The oyster po'boys are something to write home about and the staff is the kindest by far. Don't hesitate visit.
