The Chelsea is a casual to formal restaurant. During our visit; The cheese burger we rated at a three star. The hamburger salad is okay and we rated it a 3 star and the daily soup I tasted. Parking can be extremely difficult during peek hours and festivals downtown. There is an elevator for the upstairs dining area. Wheel chair accessibility appear to be tricky in the downstairs dining area. There is a nice street view from the upstairs dining area. This restaurant facility is located inside an old historical building with a clean appearance and or modern environment. The staff is extremely friendly and the atmosphere was the highlight for our visit.
I was lucky to find this restaurant in the quaint little town of New Bern.
They were packed. However, after a few minutes, I found a spot at the bar. The steak and shrimp looked amazing and I was ready for a great dinner.
I was not disappointed. My steak was cooked perfectly, and the goat cheese added a creamy, unique flavor profile.
Everything about this dish was spot on, and the customers were friendly and happy. This will be a restaurant I visit again.
Great food, wonderful service and the atmosphere in this historical building was incredible. We sat upstairs next to a window that overlooked the street below. They have a couple of gluten free options. These are not indicated on their menu, you must alert your service to your dietary restrictions, in which they were very accommodating. Our ribeyes were a large portion and cooked so perfectly that we didn't feel we need a knife. We would drive back any chance we get just to eat at this restaurant!
Dinner was amazing. We ate at the bar and the ladies behind the bar were very busy but they were on top of everything. Great experience would go back the menu is fantastic it was hard to decide what to eat.
The Chelsea is a must when in New Bern, North Carolina! We always eat here. Southern food elevated is the description in general; but anything you order is beyond yummy. We have ordered many of their dishes and each is a wonder!
We had cocktails and they both were refreshing with a good pour. Always a good start! I had a Tequila, Cucumber, Jalapeño drink that was sassy, my husband had a Vodka Martini with a twist.
You must forget all other starters and have their Fried Green Tomatoes; served with fresh Mozzarella, and a pear/pesto drizzle… my mouth is watering with their memory!
My husband had the Grouper, I had the Vegetable Risotto. Both had us yummin’ it up for a while.
Staff were very friendly, prompt and competent. Our waitress was spot on. It was another stellar experience at New Bern’s The Chelsea.
Had no issues walking in for dinner seating on a Tuesday night in May. Thoroughly enjoyed the southern burger and hubby loved the voodoo steak and shrimp. Service was great.
This is a restaurant located in downtown New Bern. We were here for a party and our table was upstairs. They have a very nice view from the upstairs tables. There weren't a lot of people sitting at the tables upstairs with us which was very nice since we had a large party. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The food all came out at the same time and was pretty good. I would go back to try more of their dishes if I'm in the area again. They also serve alcoholic beverages.
What a spectacular meal on our weekend trip to New Bern, NC! We had the Cedar Smoked Salmon and the Woodsman Ribeye specials. The ribeye was so tender and full of flavor. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the garlic Parmesan risotto was creamy and perfect. We even were able to make substitutions on the specials by getting sweet potato fries instead of the risotto on one order and double broccoli instead potatoes with the steak. The meal started with attentive waitstaff and warm bread. Truly one of the best meals I’ve had. 3 of us ate for just under $100 before tax and tip, and it was well worth it.
Everyone in our group raved about their food. We sat upstairs and it was nice. My burger and sweet potato fries were delicious. The fried green tomatoes were so good! The shrimp and grits that a couple people got looked amazing - that's next time! Highly recommend!
Worth the wait! Walked in on a Friday night. Told there was a 45 minute wait.. so they took our names and said they would call us when the table was ready so we went and walked around downtown. It was a lovely evening. We came back and had dinner. Our waitress was super friendly, prompt and attentive. The dinner specials were unique. We went with the highly recommended shrimp and grits. Best we ever had! I ordered chicken bruschetta it was also super delicious the chicken was tender and everything was served hot and promptly! It was our first time but we will definitely return.
