Review San Antonio Taco Co - Nashville

Tanya Grace
As a Vandy student, having a mom and pop spot where we can go and just chill… this is that place. I am big on taco Tuesday, but we came back the next day also. It’s just great comfort food. We ordered hard tacos and buffalo wings (half wet and dry rub). When we returned the next day, we added another order of wings but preferred the dry rub exclusively. Come ready to write down your order on the order forms. ✍️ Great place to chat and chew and the service is very fast and efficient. I also really appreciate the bussers who come around and collect the food trays or empty plates. Again this type of attentiveness makes this place feel like home and excellent for gathering together as a community. Thank you to all the diligent hard working hands behind the scenes as well! This is a must lace to visit whenever I am in Nash!

You can’t visit Nashville without hitting this gem. It is the best Tex mex on the earth! Been a part of Vanderbilt culture since the early 80s and is still going strong! Great party vibe or just hang out before or after tailgating the Vandy football or baseball game. The deck is incredible and the way you fill out your order, pay, and pickup is as efficient as it gets. I can’t visit Nashville without coming here and meeting my Nashville friends for life. You won’t be disappointed. A bucket of cold beers, chips, cheese—doesn’t get better than that!!!

SAT has always been convenient when I'm at the Vandy clinic, and the food never disappoints. Easy ordering using provided pencils and paper - get as much or as little as you want! Super speedy. Friendly, laid back dining inside or out. If you've never been here, make it happen!

So good. So so so good. I got the taco salad and a beef taco. It’s got to be the best Tex mex I’ve ever had. Something about how they flavor the meat? They also have a mini salsa bar and you can take it come in little cups. The staff is so nice as well. The lady who made my meal called me “baby” :). Love it. Also, free drink refills.

I'm torn with this place because the food is good, but it was hit or miss for some. The tacos are similar to taco Bell sized soft tacos and the crunchy tacos were full, but it says they recommend two toppings, but yet charge for all toppings. And I get it's only .25 a topping (sour cream is .40), but you should have two complimentary toppings like lettuce, tomato, or cheese and then charge for the onions, peppers, etc. Otherwise, it's just an expensive taco. The enchilada plate was very cheesy and saucy. Don't get me wrong, that is not a bad thing. But, it was a bit sloppy albeit tasty. I wouldn't get it again though. The beans were tasty though. Bean and cheese taco did it for me. Very tasty! The queso was good and you have a salsa bar with pico and salsa. The staff were friendly as all get out though. Very welcoming and friendly all around. From bringing us salsa to our table, cleaning up trays, taking our orders, holding the door. They have excellent customer service.

Beef and chicken tacos are nothing to write home about, but what sells this restaurant are the people and price. The staff was very friendly, kindly explaining how to order, joking with us, and even giving us chips and queso for free just so we could “try it”. At $10 for 3 tacos (with multiple toppings) this place is pretty affordable by downtown Nashville standards. Nice atmosphere and cute outside seating.

Overall thought: Go here! You won't regret it. I recently dined at this restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. The food was absolutely delicious (the pork taco was the best), and I couldn't get enough of it. Writing down orders helped with the party of 5 I had. The staff was straight forward, fast, and accommodating, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The only downside was the parking situation. The lot adjacent to Panera isn't theirs, so you might need to look elsewhere. Fortunately, I found street parking for $5, which covered me for 3 hours. Don't let the parking deter you, though – the great AFFORDABLE food and service are well worth it!

Definitely a fast paced casual atmosphere. Fill out an order on the sheets when you walk in, select your extras and a drink, and submit at the register. They'll call your name super quick. I got chicken soft tacos with a bunch of extras which were good and packed with goodies. Decent beer selection by the bottle. Friendly guy in the dining area gets you set up with a table and promptly cleans up your trays when finished eating. Some San Antonio decor around the place inside, plus there is outside seating. The place is an experience for sure.

I liked the salsa bar but the tacos were lacking much flavor. I paid extra for tomatoes on my taco and I should’ve just got it from the taco bar. I tried the chicken enchilada that barely had any chicken in it, and it’s like it was melted into my plate. It’s closed on Sunday, which is strange.

Pretty cool atmosphere. The waiter Mikey was very nice and attentive. The plate portions are pretty decent as well as filling and they have pancake and bacon flights 🙂
Perry Keenan
Really good food but the street tacos are small - as street tacos should be. So make sure you plan ahead. If you normally eat 4 tacos, you may want to order an extra just in case. And the best part is the salsa bar!

Good & Filling Food. Great service. We particularly enjoyed the vibe on the outdoor Deck, where there was some shade even on a hot day. No surprise that it is popular with Vanderbilt students because it is an easy walk for them from their housing & dorms, and it doesn't cost an arm & a leg to get a good meal.

The atmosphere was great, the patio was super nice to sit on. Our food came super quick and all the employees were very kind and made you feel at home. All in all great experience.
Felicia Murrell
If you’re a Vandy alum, this place is pure nostalgia. The chips and a bucket of beer will send you back down memory lane.
Zack Bennett
Don't let the name fool you... This is a Nashville original and a staple for Vandy students for decades. The food is fantastic and is ready almost immediately after you order. Don't miss the queso! No parking here. You'll need to park on a nearby street, and be aware that parking is no longer free. You'll need to scan a QR code and pay with your phone or risk a $70 parking violation ticket
Dustin Johnson
Cool spot worth hitting if you’re in the area. Sauces are fresh but not super flavorful. Beans, meat, cheese are all appropriate and classic Tex Mex. Tortillas and the vibe are what make this place better than most local options.

The best place ever.........Best quesos best chicken fajita best bean and cheese taco with a side of sour cream

After being away from Nashville for 29years, only place I wanted to eat! It didnt disappoint. My family loved it. Guacamole still the best ever!!!I don't think they even raised the prices. Will be back in 2 years.yummo

Today was my first day to ever eat here. It was SO good and you get a lot of food for a decent price! I thought I would have to stand in line for a while but the two girls at the register were so good they had the line moving fast! Every employee was very nice and welcoming. My cashiers name was mesha and she was VERY nice and helpful and had a smile on her face the whole time. Great place and perfect customer service!!!!!

We were just driving by and saw this place and decided to stop by randomly and it was well worth it. Good food, good prices and good atmosphere !

Born and raised in Texas. Been eating here for 23 years! Fresh! Everything is fresh! The guys behind the counter make it over the top though. Anything you need they get it done! Best patio for a beautiful day!
Michael Price
This place is great! It was recommended to us while we were in Nashville for CMA Fest. The patio is nice, the hard and soft tacos are good, but the fish tacos are BEST! My only complaint is the beef in the beef fajita soft tacos are very salty. . .good, but salty. The chips and queso are good as well. We were just in town yesterday for the 4th of July firework show and made sure to grab dinner here. Last 5 days we've stayed in Nashville, we've eaten there 4 times. This is a MUST try, and you will love it! I already want to go back.

Always fun place to eat, the staff are amazing, and it's good food
Jerry Black
Great place to eat and enjoy family! Friendly staff and great clean place to eat!!
Carol Porter McMillan
True Mexican.....the chips and cheese are to die for....best Taco (had the hard shell).....
Constance Britton-Walker
Good food. Nice place to hang with friends.
Lisa Mills Nelson
We love this place and have to visit every time we’re in Nashville!
Steven Giles
It was good, not over the top, but good for quick lunch.

Always enjoy going back in history to when my son introduced me to your Tex-Mex style of food presentation. A very enjoyable experience since 1988! Five stars!!
Louise Kirkman
Mecca! I dream about SATCO and my Vandy memories there. Now I live out of town. Such a treat to visit!
Beth Seitz
Oh yesssss!!! A great taco is like a tiny slice of heaven. Super happy we stumbled across this place

Love SATCo, try to go anytime I have an appointment at Vanderbilt. One of the gentlemen working during my last visit was amazing, I am a recent amputee and using a cane to walk, this gentleman helped me get my drinks (had my 2 young nephews with me), helped us get napkins, salsa, helped carry our food to the table and helped clearing the table after we were finished.. we will be back again soon!!!
Matthew D Childers
Very decent food overshadowed by an exuberant and entertaining staff.
Stephen Love-Wade
How can you really go wrong? I work late night in the Vanderbilt area so this a no brainer for a decent quick meal. Fresh chicken tacos at midnight, how can I say no?
Bobby Fricks
In love with this place. It's outstanding. The food is fresh. The tortillas cannot be beat. And they are very efficient. In a dozen or so visits, I've only had one mishap. Always a good place to eat.
WSB
It's probably a much better in-person experience. Having sampled their fare several times with staff by delivery ordering-in, I've been less impressed with the food than previously imagined. Quality is fair, and IMO, the price is high for the quality, and serving sizes. Promoting themselves as Tex-Mex, they cater almost exclusively to the university crowd. If you want quick/fast, fill-your-gut, you'll be pleased.
Scott Hughes
Cheap with lots of options. If you get your meal to go they are very generous with the chips! If need something quick and inexpensive this a great place.
FoodMan
Foodman is dropping off the kiddies and stopping by a Nashville Fav. Write in menus to design your own taco, chalupas, and fajitas. Smoked pulled pork is terrific. Cold beer & outside deck to eat and congregate. Try it.

Wished we had this race restaurant in Lansing, Michigan!!. This taco restaurant was great! We ate outside and it was cozy. I liked the fish taco the best! Chips and cheese awesome! Staff very nice too! Wished we had this restaurant in Lansing, Michigan!!! This is a five star taco place!!
Rick_Montgomery
Awesome wings... I have to disagree with Beth who said the wings were awful. I get them almost every time I eat there. They are awesome. Everyone I take there from out of town says they might be the Best wings they have ever had. No two people have the same likes/dislikes with food, but people I am with seem to love the wings here. The tacos are good with the home made tortillas, and the cheese dip is something I also have to have every trip there. Great outdoor seating, if you like that kind of thing, and a very casual vibe. Typically, there are a couple of guys there to help pull tables together and grab salsa, etc... Good job SATCO.
SA Local
Not bad for Tex Mex outside of Texas. I am from San Antonio so it was a novelty. Decent
Big Eater
SATCO is a great place to hang out on a cool day, down some beers, people watch and get some good tacos. For me, this place is more about sitting and having a good time than it is about the food. The food is good and simple, don't get me wrong, but that is not why I go there. The large deck, the people and the place is just good.
Anne Zadick
The best place for fun and friends!! Yummy cheese dip and a bucket if beer and a sunny afternoon is all u need!!
Beth
Not impressed.. I visited San Antonio Taco Company at a different location a few years ago and I thought it was decent. Visited this location last night and was pretty disappointed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, which was the only redeeming quality of my experience.

Ordered two cheese enchiladas - received chicken. Ordered buffalo wings - pretty much the most terrible buffalo wings I've ever had. Wal-Mart offers better chicken wings, honestly. Sauce tasted 'off' and basically lackluster in flavor, no spice. The breading was extremely soggy and rubbery.

Being Hispanic and having lived in San Antonio my whole life, I know what great Tex-mex tastes like. This place in no way resembles tex-mex. It is bland, tasteless, and downright disgusting. I find it hard to believe that anything on the menu is fresh or even "home-made". The tortillas taste like uncooked egg roll wrappers and the beans must be from a can. If you like this place, that's fine, but please don't think this is what the food in San Antonio tastes like. That would be an insult.
Kati Turner
Cheap. Tasty. Fun. Arguably a bad health decision.
Noah
Overrated. Only thing that seemed scratch made were the chips. Under seasoned meats and fish tacos seemed like fish sticks. Cheese dip is pretty good, but I've had much better tacos from pretty much anywhere else. Patio seating is nice, could see it being a fun drinking hang out with the music. Just don't expect to be blown away by amazing tacos.

Freaking delicious. Awesome food, great restaurant concept, laid back atmosphere. i love the patio area. the food was so delicious and fully customized to your taste with the order form you fill out and turn in while ordering. we had a great and fun experience here- i will be back for sure.
Clint
Yumm!. San Antonio Taco Company, GET IN MY BELLY!
Michelle Lawson
Hyped up. The food is OKAY - not special in any way. I really don't understand why everyone thinks this place is such a staple restaurant in Nashville.

The chips are pretty decent but I would rather eat a chain like Chipotle or Moes than this.. yikes.
Phil Schroeder
Overhyped. We stopped here while in Nashville due to all the word of mouth and raving about this place. But I found the place underwhelming. I like the idea of how you place your order and stuff. But both of the salsas were unimpressive. My favorite dish was my taco honestly. The food wasn't bad really. It just wasn't what I had built up in my head. My wife compared it Taco Bell which I feel is rather harsh. So I guess have your expectations tapered. The tacos were great but outside of that I wasn't really impressed by anything.

AMAZING!!!. Best Mexican resterant in Tennessee!! You enjoy a amzingly delious meal while watching a football game. Servers are sooo sweet!!! Kidfriendly!!!

Authentic & Awesome!. I had never been and purchased a $10 gift certificate from Sharing Spree (awesome deals) for $5. I did not know what to expect but the food was fabulous. Fresh, Crisp, Authentic, Great Service. Loved IT and can't wait to go back!
Jerry L.
Great outdoor dining. Food was pretty good. Having a beer on the patio was bliss!

This place is TERRIBLE. I get stuck coming here from time to time with friends and have tried a number of things on the menu, searching for one redeeming dish. I've got nothin. Even the chips are greasy and taste like chemicals. Everything here gives the overwhelming impression it fell off the back of a sysco truck...2 weeks ago. I actually created an urbanspoon account for the sole purpose of rating this place. Save your money and go to Taco Bell instead.
Stephanie
Cheap Tex Mex. The food is edible but the prices are great. Beer is CHEAP. Come for the drinks eat to sober up
Sallyest
Good cheap eats
Greg
Perfect Spot. To sit outside, drink a beer and enjoy some good Mexican food. Will come back

The best taco place for Vandy and Belmont students...I wouldn't drive 20 miles to eat here, but if you near and craving tacos, stop by. good celebrity sighting at times if you're into that stuff
Lauren
Bland Food. The atmosphere and location are all this place has going for it. I was expecting at least some flavor and fresh food but it was bland, the produce was going bad, even the "fresh guacamole" was brown from age. The portions were tiny. For what goes into throwing a taco together the food took forever to be made and one out of the two times I was there my order was messed up.
I'll admire this place from the street from now on and not go in... it's not worth it.
Janraigravely
Wimpy Tacos and Burritos. Save yourself and Go to Chipotle..
Foodcop
Unquie & laid back. Very laid back. I like the steak or chicken fajitas
CRog
Stellar texmex in vandy territory. I love this place--you go in and fill out a form while waiting in line to get to the cashier--so you assemble what you want on your tacos as you wait. It takes a few visits to get it just right. But it's well worth the wait. I love the pico here and the salsa too. They have other items, but the tacos rule here. There's alot of Vandy and Belmont students who keep the place alive, but they know what they are doing here--great eats and not very $ either!!
Daniel
Not my Favorite. I went with some friends who said SATCO was awesome but I don't share their sentiment for it. The food was OK but it tasted like generic mex or tex/mex and the ingredients didn't seem all that fresh. I also paid about $8 for two tacos and a drink. I feel like Nashville has both chain and local restaurants that are in this price range and offer better food.
Alex Max
A GHOST. SATCO downtown is a ghost of the original on on 21st avenue across from Vanderbilt. Its more of an older white collar scene. Original location is more relaxed with a shorts & tee crowd. Both spots serve the longtime texmex style of hispanic eating that has made SATCO locally famous, but somehow orginal SATCO with its old patio makes the texmex tastier.
Julia Cammack
SATCO is a Nashville landmark and a staple of any Vandy student's diet. The "fajitas" (tacos) are reliable and cheap. I always get chicken with cheese, peppers and onions, lettuce and tomato. The cheese dip is the real star here... Many people get chips and queso as their meal. And of course nothing beats a bucket of beer (just about any brand you can imagine) on the porch on a nice day.
Kmays
Mediocre food but great hang-out place. No one really comes here for the food, do they? They come for the great patio, the cheap eats, and the buckets of beer. Tacos are pretty standard, and the salsa bar is decent. Get some queso and you're set to enjoy a lovely time on the patio.
Devin.conaway
Great Service and Good Eats. My friends and I stopped in here one night while visiting Nashville and were impressed indefinitely. We walked in and obviously appeared out of place when we didn't walk straight over to the pre-order tablets to write down our orders. One of the workers greeted us and said "this is your first time here isn't it?". He then showed us how to order, recommended his favorites, and then grabbed a tray with all the toppings from the toppings bar and placed it on our table. The cooks/cashier were also friendly. The food was cheap and good. Simple mexican foods (tacos, tortillas, chulupas) make up most of the menu as well as wing (buffalo is the only flavor, but delicious). Beer is reasonably priced and a must with this simple cuisine.
Matt Bennett
Not Too Shabby.... The price wasn't terrible, the food was good and filling, and the sweet tea was delicious. The inside atmosphere was okay, but the deck looks like a lot of fun in warmer weather. Way to go SATCO!
Annie
Good and cheap!. We used to go here after painting pottery at All Fired Up since we were in the neighborhood. This is one of my favorite sit-out-on-the-patio and chow down places. The meat used in the tacos has some of the best flavor I've ever tried...
Benjamin Schlein
As a Texas Native I can say this place is Genuine Tex-Mex.. This place not only puts Taco Bell to shame, but every other fast food Tex-Mex Restaurant I grew up with in Texas. Excellent food at amazing prices.
Scott
The patio is nice, the food is okay. I would recomend the steak and chicken tacos, but keep it simple don't get to carried away with the choices. Having lived in San Antonio and Los Angeles the food is pretty weak. Hoever the atmosphere is nice
Jessica Sweatt
Great Tex-Mex food, cold beer, awesome patio seating!
Lob1Putt
Great option if you are looking for a Tex-Mex fix

Chips & cheese. The best porch for enjoying beers, chip & cheese with friends.

SATCO SATISFIES. Satco has some amazing food. The steak is always tender and flavorful. The queso is unbeatable by anything anywhere. I like the paper/pencil ordering system especially since everything is a la carte. The downtown location is great too.
John
A Nashville Institution. A universal favorite amongst Nashville natives. SATCO has more character than the rest. Can't go wrong with the fajitas. Try the Chips and Queso. A bucket of beer compliments everything on the menu. I am a satisfied customer for 2 decades.

Loves me some SATCO. Let me just say that these guys catered my rehearsal dinner, and have catered my office Christmas party for 8 years running. Great, great place.
Stacey Greenberg
San Antonio Taco Company (SATCO) is one of my favorite places to eat.
