I purchased tenders spiced “hot rod hot.” I also ordered fried okra with Nashville hot seasoning, fries, and fried pickles. The tenders had a great, authentic Nashville hot flavor. The chicken made me slightly sweat, which is what I prefer. It would probably be hot for most, but I could go up another level or two. Overall, good chicken.
The okra was delicious, and a nice, unique touch to the menu. As a southerner, I can appreciate that! Fries were okay. Fried pickles were delicious. I just wish some Nashville hot seasoning was in the batter and sprinkled on.
Prince’s is my fav. Hattie’s is my 2nd pick. This takes 3rd place.
The food is always great really nice workers
And they will have you at the deep fried grill cheese with hot chicken on top YEEYEE
First time trying Pepperfire since they moved from their East Nashville location, their quality is even better than I remember! You have to go for the Tender Royale/ Peppercheese it’s a delicious deep fried grilled cheese! Three massive tenders flavored to your choosing. Fries were fresh and hot, seasoned to perfection. Can’t wait to come back. Staff was friendly!
I gave this place a chance after so many let downs at Hattie B’s. This is my new chicken place. Not only did the chicken breast have the right spice, it also had flavor! I really like the heat of the spark plug level. The only thing HB does have over Pepperfire is the texture of the fried chicken breast. Not sure why HB is better in that regard, but they are. However, the flavor of PF blows HB out of the water. The red potato salad was actually better than HB bc it had onions in it. So good!! Will definitely be back!
We're in town from Florida and wanted to try Nashville Hot chicken. Google reccomended this so we gave it a try. We ordered multiple different dishes.. tenders, sandwich, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, Apple jack sandwich and some sides. Everything was delivered hot and still very crispy. It was all delicious!
Pepperfire IS and ALWAYS HAS BEEN my favorite hot chicken in Nashville. That is the main point of this review. It's fantastic.
This (relatively?) new Pepperfire location is "to go" only. Which is unfortunate, compared to their previous East Nashville locations which had dine-in or at least outdoor seating. I miss that and the beer on tap they had there too.
BUT... while I'm still hoping for more new and more full service Pepperfire locations in the future...
...THIS Pepperfire is still fantastic. They have an incredibly efficient setup. Order online or call in your order and it will soon (and I do mean SOON) be ready and waiting for you to grab off if the pick-up rack when you arrive.
Or, like I did, order in person. They have a fully automated touch-screen ordering workstation on the counter waiting for unity when you walk in. It's slick. If you have any questions, someone in the kitchen will be happy to help.
I ordered a variety of items via the workstation and my entire order was ready in less than 10 minutes.
Pepperfire has 7 levels of heat/spice. From...
0. Chicken (No Heat)
6. No Refunds (All the heat we got)
I always get one heat level less than I think I want. For your own good, I recommend starting with heat level 1. Training Wheels (A little heat). I cannot even begin to imagine what #6 would be like.
Great hot chicken for great prices
Love the range in variety of spiciness from mild to xx-hot! Good prices for the amount of chicken you’re getting. Not overly breaded and has good crisp. We enjoyed the wings and tenders and definitely need to come back to try the chicken quarters. I also enjoyed the deep fried grilled cheese sandwich. Extra good
New location, but the still the great chicken you remember. I was concerned when the East Nashville location was closed for a minute during covid but glad to see they are back. The chicken is still my favorite mix of spice flavor and heat. The sides like the green chili mac and cheese, potato salad are still as good as I remembered.
I'd heard about this place for years and years. As a Nashville Native, I'll take a mild, maybe medium, order of hot chicken now and again, even though I'm not a huge fan of spice. It's either voted upon amongst friends, or I crave it every blue moon. I usually frequent the originator, Prince’s Hot Chicken, but I'm not able to as often because of their newer location in Antioch. It's the one people go to who love or want to try breasts, specifically. Wait, a little too in-depth; back to Pepperfire. I gave a spot on Charlotte a second try after years of denouncing them. Still, I was not impressed. On Saturday, I decided just to try Pepperfire, hoping it wasn't too spicy for me. ALL I CAN SAY IS WOWWWWW. AS SOON as I finished my three-piece Training Wheel seasoned render, I immediately ordered another plate. I'll just keep it real Nashville for ya, fye! 🔥 I was ready for another plate the next day, Sunday. They’re closed on Sunday & Monday, FYI. I just enjoyed for my lunch break again this Tuesday & I only hate I waited so long to give them a try. Very unique, flavorful, and delicious seasoning. I’m so pleased with my experience. No lengthy wait, very friendly staff. They’re doing their own thing in there.
Chicken was good, seasoning was great. They brought the heat, I got the second heat level from the bottom. Only complaint is I prefer dark meat not a breast fan. Sides was okay
