J Korean Restaurant

The service and food was amazing. We traveled from out of state to get our fix for Korean food. It doesn't look that great from outside with the strip mall almost completely empty nor did the inside impress me with their mix of decor. The server and host was great. Especially the older gentleman with the long hair in a ponytail. He had so much humor- it made us feel comfortable. We prayed for our meal and he came by to say "I'm not the one cooking your food so don't worry- you dont have to pray." He refilled out water and hot tea promptly even though he didnt have to. Our food portions were HUGE. The quality and quantity of the food justifies the price. Everything was delicious and we did not walk out with our mouths feeling dry from MSG. Get ready for a banchan explosion because they bring out a lot of banchan! It was great. The closest we've had that reminded us of CA Korean food. Thanks Illinois! Thank you JKorean!

We visit H-Mart every couple of months when we're in the area, so decided to try J Korean after reading favorable reviews. The woman who waited on us was very helpful and friendly. She suggested the pan fried pot stickers saying "I guarantee you'll love them". She was right, they were outstanding, with a delicious dipping sauce. We shared a pork bulgogi as an entree, and it was outstanding. Very tasty with spectacular umami and served with a larger than usual selection of Banchan (the complimentary sides, largely of fermented and pickled items). The type of meal where you become very disappointed as you're finishing the last bits, realizing the end is near. We'll definitely be back.
