Biscuitville

These restaurants are mainly located in NC, but there are a few elsewhere, and so I took an opportunity to dine there during a recent trip and detoured over to Mt. Airy, NC. Upon entering the business I was immediately reminded of a similar style of restaurant, Tudors Biscuit World that are mainly found in WV, the main difference is that Biscuitville doesn't serve lunch/dinner items, only breakfast. When you walk in you are able to see the staff making fresh biscuits up at the main counter. Speaking of staff, we were greeted immediately after waking in by the friendliest ladies that gave you a similar feeling as if you'd just walked into your mother's, or grandmother's, kitchen. Our orders were prepared fresh and in a timely manner. I ordered the Biscuit & Sausage Gravy, Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit, and Bacon Egg & Cheese Biscuit. All were tasty and combined made a filling lunch. The main reason that my rating is only four (4) stars is simply the size of the biscuits vs price. For a business to call itself Biscuitville, I'd expect it to serve biscuits that stood out amongst the competition, not blend in with them.

Cheese Grits were undercooked and barely had any cheese. If they made them with American instead of Cheddar, they would be better. And needed S&P. Pioneer Biscuits have more flavor than Biscuitville. Sorry. We are from Texas and LOVE homemade biscuits and make several "flavors" ourselves. I'm sorry, but these were lacking flavor. Texture was good.

Update: It's just too slow with the line going out to the road. Location can't handle the drive thru traffic. I tried to pull in, but the driveway was dangerously blocked with cars, so I ate somewhere else. It's been like this the last three times I tried to eat there. Really disappointing, because Biscuitville has always been a favorite place to eat. But I won't be back until they move to a location that can better handle their traffic. Drive through is a lot slower than the Biscuitville in WS, but the food is still reliably good.
